  1. No they can rule quarterbacks in the grass in the pocket. Buffalo is better off keeping the time out in their pocket on that one anyway.
  2. Garrett looks 10x better than McCarthy at this point, but the weakness in Dallas is that Jones wants the credit so bad that he won't hire a stronger coach. Dak stabilizes all the inconsistencies there, but people won't see that until he's out of there. It's either natural this year for teams to relax when they get ahead or it's too easy for offenses. Either way, there's so many one-score games I don't know what it means for who anybody is.
  3. One thing in particular that I like about the front office is that they understand how rare it is to find offensive lineman who are capable of starting games. In the last 3 years we've seen them bring in feliciano, Spain and Williams and all three of those are situations where they saw a guy who had starting duty and now for whatever reason was on the outside looking in with their teams and they were able to bring those guys in and have been rewarded with good offensive line play the past couple years for it. It also helps with depth because the offensive lineman can have long careers, the position is so physical that at some point one of them is going to go down and then they can shuffle it..
  4. One of those ghosts got a sack
  5. Yeah, the defense wasn't good today. But Offense being ahead of defense is the trend across the league so I don't know if it's an indicator. McVay is also one of the best in the league. However, I'll happily trade some concern with the defense for the scoring output we are getting and for efficient Josh Allen.
  6. I guess my hot takes are that offense is ahead of defense across the league and that I don't see many great teams out there. Other things: Houston is probably better than their record. Tough draw getting Baltimore, KC and at Pitt. McCarthy coaching Dallas looks as underwhelming as ever, but their offensive line is in trouble and the name is bigger than the game for Elliott.
  7. At least we're not the Falcons...
  8. Kroft has the ball and he's down by contact when his back his the turf. Expect a reversal.
  9. The Rams will be traveling. They aren't allowed to stay on the east coast because of COVID rules.
  10. I agree here. Lots of ball control from the Pats but they don't have the firepower to finish drives.
  11. I don't understand all the off coverage by seattle here. They should be pressing the receivers and making Newton throw with precision.
  12. I can't be that mad at Lynn for punting there. Herbert looks like the more impressive of the rookie QBs to me in a short sample size, but his game needs some refinement.
  13. I generally like that call but in this game I wouldn't go for that.
  14. Aaron Rodgers has one super bowl because that's the going rate for a decade of great QB at unless your name is Brady. Green Bay vastly improved their coaching, defense and running game for the end of Rodgers career and for the transition to Love that will happen sooner rather than later. Green Bay isn't a rookie or one player away from winning a Super Bowl, especially at their draft position and in the COVID offseason, so I can see the value proposition of Love there if they see him as the next guy to start for them and don't want to trade out for an impact player.
  15. I think there's proof positive for some preseason based on this week, especially considering that the NFL season is so short that if it takes 3 or 4 games to build chemistry, you can lose a year. Teams that made major changes we're adversely affected, especially teams that drafted young QBs. The preseason isn't for fans, though, so just don't watch if you don't want to. It really shouldn't matter unless you're a season ticket holder who has to pay for those.
  16. That 3rd down play call and 4th down decision don't make sense.
  17. I think we saw pocket awareness, quick decision-making and touch from Allen that we haven't seen in his first 2 years. Allen wasn't forcing the pass game, threw away once or twice, and his only misses were to receivers that were very wide open because most QB's can't roll to the opposite side then throw across their body. Nobody was covering Brown there because it's so uncommon to see a throw even go that way. As a passer, Allen was outstanding in a way we haven't seen before. He does, however, need to show higher IQ as a runner. Secure the ball and go down, especially after he has the first down. On the first fumble, the ball got punched out, but Josh has to secure it instead of fighting for extra there. I do definitely agree that Diggs' impact by sliding everybody else down a slide in his ability to make tested catches were on full display. I especially like Buffalo going to the rhythm passing game at the beginning of the game. What I also take away is that Buffalo is going to try and make its living on offense by attacking defensive weaknesses. Days like this against good interior run defenses are going to mean the screen and option based attack we saw today, and it's going to ruffle the feathers of people who don't like the approach of Allen running. I think it's refreshing for Buffalo to move away from things that aren't working. They weren't a particularly good power running team last year, but it was refreshing to see it not forced down our throats when it doesn't work a la Gore last year.
  18. Allen still needs to show a higher IQ on the running plays. They're building the right offense for Allen and he looks really good as a passer, but it seems like that's coming at the expense at success from the RB position. There's a lot of shotgun and it's more spread-out, there aren't a lot of standard under center sets, so Buffalo is trying to use deception, option plays, and screens as the short game. Hopefully they've got stuff for the RBs in the second half, but they need to keep.being aggressive.
  19. I'll share mine here. 12 team PPR and I picked tenth. QB: Brady RB: Eckler RB: Jones WR: Theilen WR: Robinson II TE: Engram Flex: Hilton K: Fairbairn D/ST: Denver Bench RBs Singletary Henderson Jr Coleman Pollard Robinson Bench WR Lamb M. Williams (LAC)
  20. Late in the first in 12 teams is definitely a RB/RB oriented draft this year at your draft position. At 10 this year I got Eckler in the first and Jones in the second in PPR. Jacobs was gone before I picked. At 11 you should aim to get a 1b and a 2a that JKT listed.
  21. Since passing efficiency is the #1 stat that correlates with winning in the regular season, Coaching records and situations should be judged based on QB play for context. For context, McDermott hasn't had better than the 20th most efficient passing offense (2017) and they've ranked 32nd and 26th in Allen's 2 years here. At that level of quarterbacking, Buffalo is 25-23 with 2 playoff appearances. I don't expect the team to compete for super bowls unless the QB play gets better and in a hurry, but the extension is well warranted because McDermott is punching above the QB weight class. More simply put, he gets the most out of the tram, they play hard and have a great defense. This isn't difficult. I've always compared the performance to pre-Wilson Seattle, though McDermott's performance is actually a little better than that.
  22. It's hard to pass judgement on players that opt out because high-risk people have a different set of math, but Sanders is right in that if you're an NFL player that shows your team they don't need you, you could end up out of a job.
  23. Something that I really like about what Buffalo does is that they constantly look for offensive linemen who have starting experience at the end of free agency. It's how they got feliciano edits how they got Spain and they did another signing earlier this year and now Winters. It is so hard to keep five offensive lineman that can play at a starting level healthy, if this philosophy makes sense and pays dividends.
  24. I'm not as pessimistic on MLB and I think ultimately baseball will make it, but I don't think every team will play exactly 60 games. The league manages postponements and cancellations of games due to weather a lot. Postponing a team because of positive tests and shuffling games around is going to happen but I think MLB makes it through the regular year and that teams will take it more seriously now that there's been an outbreak. NBA is in a bubble right now and showing that model to work. It'll be more interesting to see how NBA handles next year with more teams coming in given that this season is going to finish into next season. The NFL has the luxury of going "Next Man Up" provided that a bunch of starting quarterbacks don't test positive. The harder adjust for the NFL is what happens if they have to cancel or postpone a game because of an outbreak with games only played once per week.
