Punting is correct there but they have to get a stop. -

The Broncos also didn't have a QB last week. Jefferson and Lamb have been the best 2 rookies but looking for immediate rookie impact at WR is usually a fools errand. -

Jeudy is the leading receiver there along with Noah Fant. He's been the 4th best receiver in the class, but Denver is bad and doesn't really pass. -

I Look at the Patriots the same way I look at the 49ers. Heck of a coaching job, don't have the firepower at QB to make it in. The Numbers are way better defensively. The way you play these 2 teams is the same: no turnovers and make them drive the long way on offense. The Patriots are 0-5 when their opponent scores 21, which is below-average out put this year. Their defense is kind of average at 12th and they don't have a passing game. I think they're going to be done in 3 weeks after they lose to LA and Buffalo. They probably need too much help. I think 9-7 isn't getting an AFC team in this year. -

The train I've been riding all year is that watching the league will make you feel better about how good our squad is. There's a lot of mediocre teams. A lot of teams are missing pieces, and week to week some teams play well and some teams come out flat or have clunkers. To win a blowout, a large element is catching a team either fresh out of the race like the Chargers today. As the season has gone on, we've seen Buffalo be able to win by passing, or by running, or on defense. We've seen them play their best against Seattle, a little flatter in the second Jet game, play KC competitively and one clunker against Tenn with 7 days off. The game tomorrow is largely the type of game where Buffalo has taken care of it's business. They're 4-0 against teams under .500 (which says a lot about the SOS this season) and are playing the strongest schedule in the league so far. The national media hasn't watched the Bills since KC and Tenn which is why they haven't seen the improvement in defense or health of the secondary, Buffalo is getting healthier and SF is still without Kittle and Jimmy G. -

The Patriots just don't use any long developing pass plays like the Bills do. -

The raiders got the ball on their own 39, picked up 10 then basically got the other 50 on one play. -

Week 13: Bills at 49ers on MNF (in Arizona)

The shift in the betting line is largely based on narrative. San Francisco is playing for their season tomorrow and Buffalo will get their best shot, but Im not sure people understand what that looks like given Mullens playing. They went to the Super Bowl last year, but this isn't that team. This game largely comes down to Buffalo getting back to taking care of the ball. It's largely a false narrative that Buffalo fails to score without Brown. Outside of the 3-week stretch of KC/tenn/Jets, Buffalo has gotten to the mid-high 20's and up pretty consistently. They've also turned it over a little more than average now with 5 in the last 2 games. San Francisco is 2-5 in games where their defense forces 0-1 turnovers. Their offense on the year hasn't been able to match output with other teams because they can't pass effeciently. -
Black Monday is coming (UPDATE: is here!).....
y2zipper replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd say the coaching is good considering the defense and the fact that Nagy won a division title before people figured out Trubisky can't play and they got to 5-1 this season. I also think QB misses are a little more forgivable because nobody has a clue who's gonna be good. Picking up Foles is just an indicator they're trying to jump off Trubisky. -

In a typical year you usually see about six of these. As it stands we've got three of them out with marrone and gase likely to be the next two... I think that the sixth one is going to be Arians because he doesn't fit with Tom Brady and that team needs to win now. Frankly I think that's correct because Arians really hasn't done a good job this year and there isn't really time. In my personal opinion, I am out on Mike McCarthy and I think Dallas should let him go but I'm not sure that they will. Jerry Jones hires coaches like McCarthy because he's never going to bring in a strong leader that supercedes his credit for building the organization. he also isn't going to admit that the higher is a mistake. I would give Lynn another year. I think the Spanos family will also. That's not a team that's going to run out coaches quickly because they don't like to pay extra contracts but I would need to see Lynn fail again given how poorly some of the luck factors have gone. I think Philadelphia and Chicago have GM problems more than they have Coach problems. Philadelphia is going through a Chan gailey buddy Nix era Bill's level of poor drafting and are trying to blame their quarterback. And yeah, Wentz is having a down year in his fourth year, but he's been excellent the previous three and they gave him big money for a reason. Players have down years and progression is not always 100% linear. for the most part Philly needs to make a change in the person who's drafting for them. In Chicago, the issue there is largely that they whiffed on trubisky and they need to jump off the train. I think Nagy could win games there if they got another bite at the quarterback Apple and chose somebody who was good. If chicago doesn't trust Pace to do that, I can see a housecleaning. -
The fact that they're front office identified Le'Veon Bell is somebody they thought would make an impact is part of the issue also. Pittsburgh really didn't want to offer him any type of long-term deal because he was an immature player while he was there and their organizational stability made him look good. The Jets did try to inject some young talent and revamp their offensive line in the off-season, but putting a team together with four new starting offensive linemen given that there isn't any preseason or training camp means that things didn't come together for them. It's largely the same thing we side of the Buffalo defense the first 6 weeks when a lot of guys got injured. I think trading out of the slot and acquiring a ton of capital is an interesting proposition for the Jets, but that organization has to make a decision on how they feel about Darnold. He's still young and he's still a good prospect even though it hasn't worked out, but sticking to him means that when you hire the new coach you would have to hire somebody who also likes him, but it's tempting if you can load up on picks to help him.

NFL Power Rankings Week 13
y2zipper replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In between the two games you mentioned, Pittsburgh beat Cincinnati by 16 in Jacksonville by 24, then had their schedule thrown off by covid. The picture of what Pittsburgh is is the fact that they've won 11 in a row and how hard that actually is to do. Where Buffalo catches a break is being the team that plays them the third and they are three games in 11-day stretch here. what makes Pittsburgh very good and what makes them a team that shouldn't be ranked below too with Drew Brees out is the fact that they have won 11 in a row. In the 16 game season ERA, only 10 teams have started 11 and 0. Seven of them went to the Super Bowl. -

I don't know exactly how far back but I have heard it called that the QB backed out once or twice. Also: Seattle's defenders don't get COVID when they don't make contact with anyone. -

Carroll can't win whether he runs or passes on 4th lol. For that just take the 3 even though I like going for it there because the other team is on the 1 even if I don't get it. -
Romo as full time Brady apologist...
y2zipper replied to Jamie Mueller's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
On the aggregate, Tampa is kind of where we thought they'd be. It's a 9 and 7 or 10 and 6 team because the schedule breaks easy at the end. But I said this when Brady went there: with Arians as the coach it isn't the right choice. Brady is very buttoned up, very efficient and very rigid, and you can see that in Tampa when they actually use things that he knows how to do or when he connects with gronkowski. Playing for belichick is hard and lots of guys like to leave there, but you don't get the same winning when you play for a coach like ariens. Ultimately I think Arians is going to end up out after this year. -
Denver forced to play with no QB
y2zipper replied to PirateHookerMD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Also keep in mind that the Ravens that ended up on the covid reserve list won't be playing tomorrow, so it's not a huge competitive advantage for the Ravens. The league has also been consistently fining teams that violate the protocols. -
I only asked because the Chargers run defense is better than it's pass defense. Against Seattle's bad pass defense they didn't even try to run. I'm not faulting it because it eventually worked outside of some bad execution on the fumbles.
-
I wonder what they saw on film that made them go to the run-oriented plan today. I wouldn't say they came out flat as much I'd say it took the gameplan that they stuck with a little while to get rolling. The misdirection they rolled with in the first half didn't work sometimes, and that looks ugly when it doesn't work like on the QB sweep. It paid off in the 2nd half and looks way better if the team doesn't lose 2 fumbles.
