  1. I think ESPN's (and to be honest a lot of sports media's) demise has more to do with conflating sports/politics than a decrease in interest in professional sports. That said, I 100% agree on the financial risks associated with borrowing from future earnings. It would be a foolish decision which could literally put the entire league at risk. At the end of the day, the only people who will have to get used to the new financial situation will be the players. Salaries will have to go down and I'm sure this will lead to a lot of unhappy superstars.
  2. Then with all your important players immunized to Covid, they can do a deep run in the playoffs without having to worry about losing players. genius!
  3. Yeah, but how many of them did AL think was actually 1st and 10? We may never know...
  4. I'm not a conspiracy guy but I've noticed that across the league this year. I forgot which game it was, but in a series of 3 plays, the refs completely changed the momentum of the game and brought it back into "competitive range". Something like, instead of going up by 3 scores, a sequence of penalties takes away the points, ends the drive, and with a ghost call, provides the other team with fantastic field position. And it hasn't just been once or twice. I've found myself thinking that a number of times this year already.
  5. They have PTSD from last year. Give them time...
  6. Yeah it looked like the lip sync went out early so they were stuck doing cheerleader shots (always nice) and aerials of the stadium. To be honest, I was surprised they had a special one. Sort of forgot...
  7. I don't know either. He's an explosive athlete who clearly loves the game. The dude is all smiles. Then I see the Tebow references and disparaging his Mormon religion and I think I can figure out the reason. Just watch the game and be entertained!
  8. Maybe now is the right time for the whole team to have a Covid party, get it knocked out during the bye and crush it the rest of the season!
  9. Maybe but he’s no Merton Hanks...nothing like his touchdown dance lol Not sure it can be done without literal whiplash edit: yup should’ve read the thread first lol
  10. I honestly think of the Oline as a single unit/position and the 2nd most important “position” on the field. EVERYTHING goes through the line. RBs look better, QBs have more time meaning WRs have longer to get open. They all are on a sort of shot clock that the OLINE provides. More time equals more success across the board. So IMO, I’d rather overpay for PROVEN Oline talent vs. just about any position other than QB.
  11. Ok I agree with this. In the long run, this set up has the potential to be fantastic. I guess my mind was on the massive Offensive production Fitzy was generating and comparing it to what Tua has generated. I don't think either of those games would've even been close if Fitz was in. That's why I was surprised to hear them say it that way.
  12. I actually heard this morning while discussing the Bills, something to the effect of "They did beat Miami but that was pre-Tua" I don't know but I think a Fitz lead Miami is a better team RIGHT NOW than a Tua led one. It just struck me as really odd sounding...
  13. They are completely separate career fields with completely different talent pools. Coaches get to pull from the full population as there are a huge variety of skills/talents that can make a great coach. NFL athletes are literally the tiniest fraction of the tiniest fraction of the population due to the physical requirements for the position. NFL athletes are probably the best athletes this world has known to this point. Put another way, how many successful coaches have gone on to be successful NFL players? Just because the player pool has a huge racial imbalance, it doesn’t mean that everything associated with it also has to show that imbalance.
  14. But is the good ol boys club racist? That is the question. It’s not about it being difficult to break into. This rule implies that the club is full of racists that must be prodded into not being as racist. I don’t believe these owners are overtly racist like this. I’d also take a look at the racial breakdown of the country. 13% of the country is black 13% of 32 is approx 4 There are 3 (PLEASE correct me if I’m wrong) current black head coaches in the NFL. It is a little off but not as critical a deficit that would require this strong a program IMO. If the club is restrictive do something to promote new blood. Don’t call it something else and let the club stay as closed as ever as “efforts” continue to fail.
  15. I’m sure the powers that be will find just enough votes in the recycle bin to put Mahomes up top
  16. Nobody puts Brownie in the corner! I've had...the time of my liiiiiife!!
  17. Pretty sure Rush Limbaugh did that with Donovan McNab. Fired on the spot. Here's me holding my breath....
  18. I have to agree that the constant politics in your face is a huge turnoff. I guess they just can't help themselves. SJWs are this generation's Bible Thumper. And just as much fun to talk to...and have mixed in with your sports. I miss the Boomer/NFL Countdown days. I would look forward to that show all day! If they got back to their roots, I would probably come back. While all the different league specific channels (NFL Network, MLB Network, etc) are good, ESPN was really the only place you can go to get a little something from everywhere. I would actually get a little interested in other sports from their highlights, something that wouldn't have happened without Sportscenter. And I think there is still a market for something like that. They just need to get away from the "stars", return to growing non-athlete reporting talent, stop producing shows like they're tabloids and get rid of the non-sports talk. Is that asking too much??
  19. I guess what I'm saying is that JA DOES take advantage of poor weather. Just because someone else can ALSO do it, doesn't mean the advantage isn't real IMO.
  20. Finally a Vote that doesn't make me feel gross... GO BILLS!!!!
  21. I think he was just sleeping off his morning "hair of the dog". The shakes look really bad on TV lol
  22. I can see why we’d want a dome. With JA slinging the rock like he is, we want to provide him with a perfect environment to really maximize his capabilities. It makes sense, but only if we look exclusively on the “O” side of the ball. While JA MAY complete a lower % of passes in an open stadium, I think his Comp % will be higher than the opposing QB in the same environment due to his physical capabilities. So, IMO having an open stadium is a net benefit to the Bills if you take all three phases of the game into account.
  23. It wasn’t until I saw the victory formation. What a fun game to watch!
