Backup QB is an unused luxury... until it isn't.
Without Nick Foles, the Eagles don't win the Super Bowl - and are instead complaining how an injury to Carson Wentz destroyed their season.
There are MANY instances where a good backup can win 1-2 games during an untimely injury, keeping a team in a playoff race.
How many times did Frank Reich come through for us during the Super Bowl years?
enough to get us to the superbowl. great point! houston game...pitt game...i'm sure there's at least another.

That's a big no for me. As a matter of fact if I were beans, Barkley would be signed long term and I'd make him the highest paid back up.
-
trading any of the wrs (of the top 6)...and that includes duke, is pretty unlikely. zay was a 2nd rd. pick who i believe holds the college career record and is going into his 3rd yr.
whatever happened to the old saying that "it generally takes 3 yrs. for a wr to blossom". i expect him to be better this year.
i'm hoping they line brown and foster on the outsides together...a lot.
anyways, there's gonna be 1000 guys floating around to shop from saturday. i think any trade will happen in october.

It’s okay for the Colts fans to want season ticket refunds. For starters, they are total asshats for booing Luck.
all i can say is if this were our situation, my guts would have fell through my a$$. i can see it from both sides, but when your so stoked on the upcoming year and this happens, it's like a kick in the nads, so i can understand some drunk fans initial reaction. i'm disabled and live with brutal pain everyday, but i can't tap out, so maybe my opinion is jaded.
i think he should have stuck it out. he could have taken the first few weeks off and then decided, "i don't need the money"......i respect the premise of his decision, i don't respect the timing....and he should absolutely give the money back to the team.

i'll take it a step further.... I've been saying to anyone or anything around me that will listen that the pats aren't winning the division and it will either be the bills or the jets to do it. I think the pats still win 10 and get a wildcard as the 2nd team out of the east but I really truly believe either us or the jets rise up and have a big year..... which team I dunno. but bills or jets win the division.
have to remember the pats looked mortal last year in the regular season with 11 wins. they've lost gronk and both his replacements are out to start the year. they've lost a starting safety and a very good center.
well the jets have been the ones to upset ne and gase seems to be able to do it....

If Oliver is as advertised in terms of getting pressure up the middle, I don't know whether or not Darnold is effective throwing on the run. I don't think he'll be taking many 7 step drops, but if he does, that could be a favorable outcome in the Bills favor either by our D line or our Safeties. I'm trusting our LBs to shut down the short stuff, Bell might get his bell rung by Edmonds a few times on some screens
if oliver can get pressure up the middle, hopefully trent will give the piledriver when darnold rolls to the right.....or tombstone..

I think the bills have a nice year but if i'm being perfectly honestly I expect a close loss week 1..... which will suck because it will be my first day down in Jamaica for my anniversary vacation.... a win would really set the week off right.
ummm ...will suck a lot more for those who are not in jamaica....have a safe trip.

Why does our defense have to pitch a shutout?
i think it's gonna be tough sledding if all we do is try to force the run on early downs. if they constantly get us in 3rd and longs , there will be a lot of 3 and outs and it's about time that's a thing of the past. we'll see

I think it is going to be a real tough opener. I don't see either team winning by more than 3 or 4 points. Two pretty evenly matched teams. I give the Bills a coaching advantage but the Jets have home field advantage.
i think we need to air it out with some hurry up and put some points on the board early, then pound it after. hopefully we can catch them unprepared for that. bellichek is a genius in that he game plans for each opponent and we haven't had an oc close to that since ted.

I think they lose the opener, beat the Giants and Bengals, then ofc lose to the Pats.
well if they lose game one....and don't beat the bengals.....noooooo....it will be hard to make that up.

No anxiety at all.
I live among Jet fans. They overhype their team every season. This year’s Jets are overhyped, like usual. Their offensive line is nothing special. They’ve got two starting linebackers out. Their secondary is questionable, at best. If our “new” offensive line hold up against their front, then we’ve got no problems. I’ve got no worries about our defense. None.
Get off off the ledge, bro. We got this first one.
they got a very stout front and greg will send guys. i was hoping our line would have been established by now. i actually don't feel bad about feliciano at center so long as ford and nseke are the right side. i don't know why teller hasn't been getting some heavy lg practice. i'm not sold on spain at all.

You should be worried. Just think about how your life will change if the Bills lose week 1.
You can kiss life as you know it goodbye if the Bills fail on the field.
this is why i average starting one thread a year.....guess i'll never learn

The Jets are going to be weak at LB and secondary. I expect some max protection schemes to give Allen a clean pocket and the receivers will have a good day. In addition, that scheme has been weak against the run in the past.
One question for you - how has Williams done his last few teams? Exactly.
that's what i'm hanging my hat on. hoping dabes has some bellichek up his sleeve.

I wouldn’t stress about it. Cuts aren’t coming up until after game 4, so let’s just hope you make the team first. Just keep studying your playbook and hope that you don’t get that knock on the door. I hope this helped. God bless!
i'm just gonna continue to go out and make plays, make the most of my opportunities and let the chips fall where they may. at the end of the day this is a business and i can only control what i can control......did i get it right?

Projecting the Bills’ 53-man roster heading into the final preseason game
Wide Receiver (7)
John Brown, Cole Beasley, Zay Jones, Andre Roberts, Robert Foster, Isaiah McKenzie, Duke Williams
Through three preseason games, Duke Williams has done enough to make the initial Bills roster. It all began for him right near the end of training camp at St. John Fisher College, where it seemed like something clicked for the receiver. Williams brought in a contested catch in the end zone during practice, and from that point forward, he’s been on a steady incline. He provides something that no other receiver on the roster does with his size, and now he’s starting to figure out how to win on his routes. His effectiveness as a run blocker is a significant factor in the decision, as well. Williams should hang on through the initial 53-man roster, but if the team makes a waiver claim over the weekend, he could end up on the shortlist to be released.
i'm praying they do this. if only 6, i would rather it be between roberts and isaiah.

It will now come to between McKenzie and Foster. Williams has earned a roster spot.
we'd be fools not to keep foster across from brown. that would negate either one and make the whole speed on the outside a waste.....imo

I'm all nervous and jerky with a high level of anxiety. Facing Greggo and having to have our defense pitch a shutout? I can't think of a worse game to lose this year then game one.
Someone please tell me my fear is wrong. It kinda sucks too that all the "beat reporters" are talking up Darnold. We need Oliver to take him out on the first series and beat Carp lips to the punch.
Talk me off the ledge!.....probably stepping into one there.

I think there is pretty decent Clowney is a Bill by the end of the day. They are one of two teams mentioned and Clowney rumored to not want to go to Miami. He controls the situation, remember, because he can’t be traded until he signs his franchise tender.
it's a pass for me. i don't think he'll ever perform at the level of pay he's gonna get. i think murphy is gonna get double d sacks and what would you do with him and shaq after getting clowney?

Yes he could have taken QB snap week 1, have a mysterious injury like Planters Fakeitis and be out for season collecting a large check.I have a lot of respect for him resigning before season not mid game week 1.
Certainly possible. Reich is one of the best in QB room and maybe Chad will be taken under Frank's wing helping keeping him out of trouble.
well i believe he will start the season as the no.2 and if they get off to say a 2-5 start....

Jacoby Brisette sucks and we are all about to see it.
Had Kelly will be QBing that team by week 6.
i agree. jacoby at best imo is 7-9 and that's being generous. enter jim kelly....er...chad. wouldn't that be a hoot if 3 yrs. from now colts fans are saying...man , if luck hadn't retired, we would have never known what we had in kelly. i believe it's possible, especially with frank running things.
-
yep, it'll be nate leading da raidas against chad kelly's colts in the playoffs. place your wagers!

Yes, but there will always be valid criticisms of the Allen pick unless he makes it impossible to question the selection. Not saying it is fair, but that's where it stands. There's tons of people who take the stance Schopp takes, and there is only one way they will ever shut up.
wow, that's the way i think the man would put it. good job, great avatar.
i'm sorry to say that i could care less than nothing about hockey. i hope the sabres do well because it's the pegulas but other than that, when these bozos are talking sabres when we are about to kick off nfl, makes me notice even more the autistic spit flying bologna after 3:00. i'm sorry if i get canned for that comment, but sal should have that time block with whoever he picks and i'm out.
