  1. wouldn't be surprised if it happened. maybe that's why they haven't named a starter yet....for game one. hoping teller puts vladdy on the bench...
  2. it will be a red flag for me for sure if he names a.j. or josh the starter. what's he gonna do?...stand in a team meeting or with the player's counsel and say... "hey guys, i know that nate has moved this offense no matter who he's played with....and he 's had a stellar camp and preseason, but i really want to play josh because of where we drafted him....or " we are going to go with a.j. even though he hasn't been up to par, he has experience." " i'm the coach and it's my decision and it's my plan and process, so deal with it. we may lose a bunch of games but it's all about the future." ummm yeah...i can't see it happening.
  3. right and as long as we can steal a few early on, we won't be able to be counted out til the end. we could easily go on a 6-2/7-1 run after ne and the bye.
  4. agree 100% it's commonsense. nate gives you the best chance NOW.... and we need those 1st 2 games! if things go south, we have a.j. or the rookie. actually i thought a.j. would edge nate out, but if they choose him now, it's simply familiarity when it comes to the ravens. either way, i feel nate can CONSISTENTLY move the chains and put points on the board. with a decent defense maybe we can steal a couple sneakily. if allen starts and gets dragged around with his pants down, what makes anyone think that by the 2nd half (of the year) we'll get on a roll. nobody thinks about him appearing in major venues with home crowds and getting a beating. he needs to be on the sidelines watching how things unfold for a bit. i for one do not think that is in any way necessary. i don't know what's in the mind of mcd...that's worthy of it's own thread.
  5. not only that , allen himself said that the game speed was more than he had seen so far and it was difficult for him to read the defense pre snap. for those watching the game,(and it's been mentioned on air), that breaking the huddle with 10 or less seconds left, gave him almost no time for pre snap reads and adjustments at the line. this game is too fast for him right now. the line shuffling sucked for sure, but it was his mental game that was not up to the task.
  6. i hear ya......i'm not too worried about star dialing it up, but if trent doesn't show up, i will be pissed. hopefully he's the secret weapon because someone nasty opposite hughes would be huge,
  7. ....which is one of the things that stands out...to me at least is that he elevates the play of those around him.
  8. gotta give it to ya, you're consistent. you've been bashing nate for months...he won't ever play in the nfl again....he won't make the team.....he'll never start another game.... welp, here he is...and most likely gonna see time starting...and possibly winning. you can't deny the need we have for a qb who can get the ball out in under 2 seconds...or complete 6 or 7 straight passes on scoring drives. i don't know how you can carry such a grudge against a guy who has proven you (consistently) wrong at every turn so far. even tranny has backed off a bit. now i'm gonna wish i hadn't responded to your post because i know what's coming.
  9. sorry, thought you meant baltimore. i hope they have made the week one starter decision already. i think they have and if not, that means they can't properly game plan. i have no idea why they would wait til after this last game to decide. what could they possibly learn playing guys that are gonna be cut by chicago? if this truly was a competition, nate has won the job hands down and no one can out perform in one game what he's done in 3. as far as thursday goes, (again i hope they name nate the starter prior to thurs.), i would start allen and finish with a.j. fwiw i wasn't trying to throw any snark when i quoted you before.
  10. assuming you mean against the ravens....well he's the guy who gets the ball out in 2 seconds or less, so hopefully we have a shot. even if he gets k.o.'d, we would have to throw a.j. in. i do not want to see allen taking a beating. on the flipside...what if he gets a w in balt. and then puts on a clinic at home and beats LA? that would be frigging awesome....
  11. if you can find a fan hating on allen please post it cause i'm not seeing any hate. he's the future and no one wants to see him ruined. if there's hate for anyone on this board, it's the other guy....who has, beyond the shadow of a doubt, won the right to start week one.
  12. good points cf and i shouldn't say this, but as i was watching the first half, this line of thought came into my mind. i couldn't help but think...how could they possibly be playing this bad(all the way around)? are they sending a signal as to who they want to start the regular season? i hope that doesn't turn your thread into a crap storm, but it almost seemed like they were trying to be bad. i know it sounds ridiculous. maybe it was the beer....idk
  13. i wouldn't shoot miller's way just yet. the penalties sucked for sure, but i don't think it's a good idea to switch out both guards at the same time. ducasse is the thorn in my backside. i hope they spend the next 2 weeks with teller at that spot.
  14. props to you my man. ....although i'm willing to bet you're the only one with the stones to fan up and admit it. i stand corrected.
  15. i hope you realize reddog is bringing your side down.....he will diss anyone not named tyrd....tierod...toorod , tuhrod whatever it is.......everybody play da foo....
  16. if i may..genius football guru, what makes you think that balt. won't stack the box to stop the run?....then bring the heat on josh and make THE ROOKIE beat them with his arm...and try to get some ducks thrown? you really are ahead of the curve. as soon as they see josh, oh they will back off and play 2 deep and hope to press man at the line. they will/better play it safe....ok. hopefully the chargers take a page out of that book.? i figured i better edit this and give the credit to steve tasker for making this point on one bills live....but what does he know right? him and that gigundus helmet ....lol?
  17. or nate and josh....? either way...the first 2 games are the most important of the season. theses games will be the deciding factor as to the post season. they gotta get it right....and they can always change from nate to josh. if the rookie gets thrashed and especially in front of the home crowd and throws picks against the bolts, it could cause a lot of damage. tbd will have to make a support section for all the ....well....ya'll know who you are.
  18. on no. 3 i agree...even though he had probably half the attempts of the top 15 qbs. as far as no.1 see also saints game...for example. i probably should have used the word consistently....
  19. i'm not worried about it at all. i know he is the future and i'm also fine with starting nate. even if josh looks ok, there's still the chance (and likelihood) that nate will post better no.s. against cincy. allen will have to be very convincing tomorrow. we can always switch from nate to josh. we cannot turn back once allen starts. we will be fine.
  20. no i'm not joking. two games in...nate is at 85% at 17/20. he most definitely is capable of consistently putting together 7/10 or 8/10 drives. he did it against the saints 7/10 td did it against the colts 7/10 td he's done it twice so far and once with the 3's for the win. he's constantly put strings of 6-8 straight completions together throughout tc. i can't think of one qb who has been on this roster in more years that i can remember, that has been this accurate.....and gets the ball out in under 2 seconds. please don't waste your time with the soft defenses or it's preseason. i believe he's the kind of guy who can go over 70% 24/32 over the course of a game is 75% i believe he can consistently post those no.s. keep in mind this is only my opinion based on what i see.
  21. did we actually have receivers playing that day?
  22. in my 45th year as a fan of this team and the nfl, there are only 3 qb stats that matter to me and they all, imo, certainly correlate with wins....call me capt. obvious if you will. 1. comp. % you ain't winning jack hanging around 50% 2. ypg...see above. ie. a 15/30 game with 200 yds or less won't take you far either. 3. td/int. ratio....for obvious reasons if your qb can't be efficient in any one of these 3 things, wins ain't happening and every qb we've had since drew bledsack has been poor in at least 2 of the categories. oh and i get a laugh at the new pronunciation of tyrod....tuhrod lol. i think a good compromise would be dropping the o ....tyrd?
  23. the bottom line is..the show ain't over until mcfat lady sings. i am in the not start allen week 1 camp, because i believe...and i think i can speak for players and staff, that winning games is more important than anything. josh allen is going to have to close the gap on comp. percentage sunday. he will have to be pretty impressive in that category for me to want to throw him in week one. he needs to show that he can complete well north of 60%. imo, anything under 70% is not going to win regular season games. also keep in mind that nate will be playing sunday as well and if he goes 8/10 or better again (showing a consistent pattern of being able to move the offense,) i believe the decision will still be undecided. many here think that just because allen is getting the starts with the ones on sunday that it's automatic. i don't think it is in the coaches mind.
