Nobody, STILL, can outline the end game of funding a forever war. Nevermind the future effects of forcing Russia & China to further align.

Every year is a new year. What we know is that we have the best QB in the NFL and a Top 3 OL returning. Outside of that.. We have a RB that seems to want to force our FO’s hand in terms of paying him or trading him. We have two TE’s, one who is solid and the other who the FO is calling out in an effort to get 1st RD play from him in Year 3. And at WR, we have a good slot WR and then ??? Make no mistake, outside WR was a legitimate issue last year. We masked it best we could, but teams literally played us differently due to the fact they didn’t respect our outside WR’s. It not only took away our vertical passing game based on lack of speed.. it also allowed teams to drop a Safety and clog up the area where our slot receivers and tight ends typically work.

I guess the easiest one for one, given he’ll make somewhere between 11-15M would be would you rather have James Cook or Darius Slayton and a RD3 pick. Slayton is a guy rumored to potentially be on our board as a vertical speed threat and his projected contract could be somewhat in line with what Cook is looking for based on some contract projections. A RD3 pick being a moderate estimate of what Cook would go for in a player for pick trade. For me, it’s not about Cook.. he’s very good.. it’s just about paying a non-elite RB that much money when we desperately need to add outside WR speed and multiple DL upgrades.

Ukraine is literally going into towns and rounding up fighting age men in an effort to force them to enlist and quickly be sent off to the front lines. Same with Russia. You want them to join NATO? Which will never happen. I agree that Cook is very good and, as good as our OL is, many times Cook just made things happen that were special. That said... I'd point blank trade him at this point. I say that believing we could get a 3rd round pick for him. Even if we could lock him down at, say, 11M.. I'd rather use that 11M towards an outside WR or Defensive Line.. or even a potential difference maker at another undervalued position in Safety for say.. Jevon Holland. I just think the engine of our run game is Josh Allen, our OL and Aaron Kromer. As long as we have those three things, a highly paid RB is a complete luxury... especially one who can maybe do more than we ask of him, but has primarily been a rotation back leading a group with a well defined role for a 3rd down back.. and with a rookie who, in his one game to shine, absolutely shined.

I honestly don't know.. The Draft is loaded at DT and I wouldn't hate going early & often at DT to make our interior a potential monster unit with 2 premium DT's to go along with Oliver and a hopeful jump from a healthy Carter. That said.. every year it's obvious we don't have "dudes". We have Josh Allen and a very good all around roster. Dawkins and Brown could be in that mix as well, but OL doesn't move the needle in the way we're discussing. IMO, this offseason .. Goal #1, should be seeing what it takes to get another "dude". Whether that's a pass rusher or DK Metcalf.. we need another dude so it's not just Josh Allen vs the world every postseason.

The counter to this is that he was barely used as much more than a receiving back at UGA and has been in a timeshare here. The tread on his tires is about as low as it could be for a RB entering Year 4 that is regarded as well as Cook is. That said.. if we can get a Day 2 Pick this year, I’d trade him. We need DL, WR and Secondary. Cook is a luxury that if we’re too far off on a number with, isn’t worth the hassle.
