The point is next week those players might still be out but they can play us after making sure no one else has it.
What if nobody else tests positive tomorrow or Saturday? They could have just pulled up a couple guys off their practice squad, practiced Sunday and played the game Monday or Tuesday, and then played us as well.
It just seems like this is exactly what the expanded practice squad was for.. Now, obviously, if more cases arise and it becomes a full blown outbreak, well then they are a mess regardless.

Assuming we'll be picking pretty late in the round, and all the top tier DEs and DBs go early...
Do you go 2nd tier DE/DB, or 1st tier TE/OG?
The easy answer is: Whoever Beane feels is BPA, regardless of position.
I don't think we need a OG... Cody Ford looks like he's going to be a good one at that position, we have Spain under contract and it seems like the FO likes Feliciano and may bring him back.
I'd go BPA RT, EDGE or CB (or Kyle Pitts if he's there)

I posted this on the other titans thread but Chris spielman’s brother is the GM of the Vikes and therefore given the information on what occurred with the titans as they had just played them. Spielman said on his podcast yesterday that it’s his understanding that a PS player on the titans tested positive on Saturday before the team left for minny. The player didn’t travel. That player had been in contact with a coach, who then held a meeting with a group of players while on the road in close quarters, and didn’t wear a mask. No one is tested on Sundays (Gameday). Monday the positives came back. If true, and no reason to not believe Spielman but of course it is second hand from Rick, but it was a break in protocol.
Absolutely unacceptable, if true.. That's just so frustrating to read.
Was wondering what the difference could be between the Falcons who had one case, and isolated it with no further issues, and the Titans...

Does it really though?
The Titans coaches spent all week gaming planning and watching film for the Steelers, now they have to scrap all that an do it all over again for the Bills. Not to mention the whole team is not allowed at the facility, so they cannot even practice what the coaches implement until they are cleared to go back and that might not even be till mid-week next week. Sounds more to me like a cluster-you know what than a strategic advantage. If it's an advantage, it's minimal in my opinion.
This is also a terrible time to have a bye.. so early to begin with, and add in the fact that we had no preseason and teams (see our defense) are still trying to adjust to live action/tackling etc..

I'd have no issue with reworking Diggs contract sooner rather than later. Having Allen, Diggs, Dawkins and Tre all locked down for the long term is quite the foundation. Only thing missing is an elite DL player.

I like Knox's potential, there's a good player there, but he has to get the fundamentals right, i.e. no fumbles and drops.
Kroft, as far as I can make out, did what he was asked to do, and did it well. Knox has tried to do what he was asked to do, but hasn't done it so well. I'm sure he will get more opportunities, but for the moment, I'd be way more comfortable with the reliability that Kroft showed last Sunday.
I would also say that it wouldn't hurt Knox to sit, bearing in mind the concussion. I believe he still has a long career ahead of him.
Kroft certainly opened my eyes on Sunday. I also still love Knox's potential, but Kroft played really well... I might be inclined to give him another week to show what he can do before bringing Knox back in.

Operating out of an abundance of caution is the only way to go. They play the game and infect the other team- then we have a major season threating outbreak.
I don't disagree, but science seems to show that if you're testing negative before the game, chances are highly unlikely you can pass the virus during that time.
Hopefully this rings true as we've seen no positives on the Vikings.
I'm saying what i'm saying based off 5 positive cases as of today... of course if they keep getting positive tests tomorrow and the next day, then you have to postpone because the PS squad rules were meant to alleviate a few cases, not a full blown outbreak.
-
I don't have a huge issue with this in terms of competitive balance affecting us.. The Titans literally can't even go to their facilities right now and, even if they could, it's essentially akin to playing a team off a week prior where they had TNF.
I do think the NFL jumped the gun on not playing this game, unless they have reason to believe there will be many more cases on the Titans.. They expanded Practice Squads for this exact scenario.... five players testing positive seems like a bad precedent to set on fully postponing a game...

Interesting that one more positive player test results in this...
What's the point of the expanded PS, if 5 players testing positive leads to this?

I think I would be too but a caller brought it up on WGR and Brown didn't think it was crazy
Well Brown is also losing his mind right now... I had to turn down my volume because everyone at my office looked over wondering who keeps screaming.

Why? They get tested daily.
This is where i'm at - I trust the league protocols to keep our guys safe, but I completely understand the anger towards the Raiders...
A) Look at the Vikings, no positives, but because they played a team that has positives the day after their game, they have to shut down for a few days.
B) Integrity of the season.. Last thing the NFL needs is a Miami Marlins situation.

Health risks aside do you understand how badly this could ***** up our season if they spread to a bunch of our players?
Absolutely.. I just have faith in the NFL protocols as evidenced by the Vikings having no positive cases. (knock on wood it stays that way)
It's absolutely frustrating though, especially on the heels of the Titans issues.
-
I'm certainly frustrated with the Raiders, but Chris Brown needs to calm down... Dude is about to have a stroke over this.

If our defense can't put together a decent game against Derek Carr, Josh Jacobs and Darren Waller with no Ruggs/Edwards, then i'll officially start to worry.
This is the game that I'm looking for them to turn the corner and start getting their act together.

Given his track record, Greg Roman doesn't seem like the coach you go after if you want Trevor Lawrence...
-
Actually sounds like the news is good today...
Only one other Titans player positive and zero Vikings positives. Seems like the gameday protocols worked.
-
I see all the similar running predictions for this week as we had pre-Miami...
If Arnette is out, the Raiders will be very vulnerable through the air.
I know the numbers show they can be run on, so we shall see...
-
Doesn’t science show that as long as all the Raiders tests come back negative, at least for those playing/present... that it’s highly unlikely anyone is contagious, even if they test positive the next day?
OK, folks, not the right place to discuss covid-19 incubation period, when people start being contagious, or the sensitivity and selectivity of different tests. Somewhere Else, Not Here -mod]
As we’ve seen though, the Vikings have to disrupt their week just in case, and that’s obviously not ideal.
-
Pathetic that we can't have fans for the Chiefs, a team that's had fans in the stands since jump.

Kroft played really well... well enough to take the starting spot from Knox?... who knows, but I would like to see Kroft out there in the red zone packages.

Yes! How dare Covid allow for the Titans to get an advantage when playing the Bills. Screw Covid, the Titans must play this weekend NO MATTER WHAT!
This is a football board, not a COVID freak out board, hence the discussion on how it affects football related events.

So what's the difference, if there is any, between how the Falcons had one case (which has become a non-issue essentially) and the Titans who seem to want to be the NFL's Marlins?
Just dumb luck?
Different protocols?
-
Vikings seem to be getting the raw end of the stick here.. did nothing wrong but will basically have to be behind the 8 ball going into their next game due to another team's issues.

I was too young to really comprehend Kelly, but I’ve seen plenty of highlights of him lighting up defenses in home playoff games.
Mahomes and Rodgers play in “awful conditions” second halves of every year as well.
I’m pretty sure the Colts game is one of the only snow games I’ve seen us play in my adult life. That seems to be more of an anomaly than anything normal.
It was reportedly windy on Sunday, enough so that announcers and are pregame analysts were talking about it affecting the kicking game. Allen threw for 300+ and 4 TD’s.For the record, I’m firmly in the “build some variation of a dome” camp, but I’ve seen QBs light it up in cold, windy, snowy weather way too much to be overly worried about this with Allen.

I get that, but that doesn't really apply here. The game was going to happen Monday or Tuesday if nobody else tested positive. The incubation period still applies when guys tested positive yesterday.
I agree they'd have to postpone if more tested positive after today... i'm simply saying I would've waited to see if that happened.
