They aren’t dug in because he’s a punter. They are dug in because, as of now, they believe him and he’s part of the team. They backed up Shady. They backed up Dodson. They are loyal to their players and have their backs. I respect tf out of that, especially given modern day society. If they lose trust in Araiza and things change, I’m sure they will reverse course, but I highly doubt they will buckle to public pressure if they believe the facts are on their side. And players see that too… like it or not, it’s part of the process/culture.

Mina Kimes is already going after them about whether they knew about her being 17. On its own, that’s an issue that would fade away, provided she was telling people she was 18 or Araiza couldn’t have known. Even if he’s innocent of rape.. As fallout from an explosive allegation, not sure how the Bills handle that one.

Honestly, with todays media, anything less than cutting Araiza will not satiate the mob. That being said, given the Bills statement and how this lawyer is acting, I’d be willing to believe he will be vindicated.. until I saw what Araiza’s lawyer said about a cash grab, which is an insane thing to say out the gate even if you believe it. What I worry about for the Bills is that they do believe, and maybe have reason to, that Araiza is innocent of the gang rape accusation. However, they will get slaughtered by the media for the fallout which includes the “sex with a minor” allegation. On its own, Bills/Araiza could probably get by if she was lying about being 18… But if he isn’t cut for alleged rape, they will make sure he’s cut for “statutory”. Not sure I see an ending here where we don’t cut him.

Yea.. a lot of this is probably experience driven. Women who have been assaulted empathize with any allegations, justifiably. Men who have been falsely accused or witnessed it, otherwise. This happened in my high school. After likely realizing how she’d be viewed, she told police four guys at a party raped her. Her friends that went with her to the party all told authorities she was lying and it was consensual.

In a vacuum, no. Beane/FO cannot make their decisions based off Twitter. That doesn’t mean go Browns and stick by him if there are dozens of accusers and mountains of evidence, but they have to think about the team. Unless Araiza is a complete tool, I’m 99% sure most of the team has his back right now and would feel the organization is sus if they release him within 24 hours of this going viral nationally.

Also, you take one antibiotic pill or are given an antibiotic shot at the clinic if you have, or are suspected of having, chlamydia. Its not something people just go around knowingly transmitting.. You act like this has been in the public discourse for months, with dozens of accusers and we gave him an unprecedented contract. I have zero patience for people who want to immediately say bUt WhAt AbOuT ThE bRoWnS … two entirely different situations…. and who knows, you may get your wish and some of us will come around to demanding he’s cut based off what more comes out. But more needs to come out, because if I’m a Bills player and I see my teammate cut because of the mob, I’m finding a new team when my contract is up.

Yup.. There’s a lot of Bills fans on Twitter that I would never want in my corner at any point in life. Podcasters desperately trying to get Twitter clout and fans who want him locked up over an accusation. If Araiza did what he’s accused, then he deserves every bit of this, and the Bills deserve the heat for - so far - sticking by him. If not, or if it’s murky and he’s just a dumb college kid who was in the wrong place at the wrong time… this is a Black Mirror style example of modernity in the court of public opinion.

Not sure about you, but I know people who have been in he-said/she-said one time sexual situations. I don’t know anyone who’s been a serial masseuse sexual harasser.

Tomorrow will be quite interesting. Im sure the Bills knew that this would drop, and when it did, it would be rough .. but if they thought this could be a drawn out messy legal battle and/or Araiza did some awful stuff, I can’t imagine they would’ve kept him. You deal with that initial dumpster fire if you know the facts are on your side and you can take control of the narrative. Or maybe we’re just way off on how buttoned up the FO is… hopefully that’s not the case.

Ngl, if McDermott believes in Araiza.. believes he’s innocent here, I could see him going to war for him. He’s not the “he’s a punter, just cut him and move on” type. Inevitably Beane may have to make the call for him, but McDermott is 100% about integrity … and like it or not, but cutting a guy simply because he’s a distraction flies counter to that.
