  1. News cycles in this country aren’t even 24 hours anymore. And people generally have the attention span of a five year old.
  2. Its isolated to that in the legal sense. In the public sense, Bills have a radio station full of justice warriors, a Twitter army banging down their door and reporters who -thus far- have/can only present one side of the story. Its not remotely the same thing, but I doubt the Bills want to join ranks with the Browns on this. Even if they have proof through their investigations that he’s innocent of the gang rape aspect, they don’t exactly have the luxury of time on their side. Then there’s the whole, “She was 17, but…” aspect, that I highly doubt anyone with their mind made up wants to hear.
  3. I was all in on keeping Hodgins.. but I may have started coming back to reality that we keep 6 and WR6 should be a top notch ST’s guy in Kumerow. Hopefully Hodgins makes it to the PS, but this staff clearly knows how to scout mid-late round WR’s and DB’s. I’m confident they’ll find another WR in the draft next year to replace Crowder in the WR room.
  4. Excuse me, but allegedly beating your gf and tweeting a racism are about 6 or 7 “current things” ago. Please keep up. We’re onto sexual assault allegations as the unforgivable sin now.
  5. That’s where I’m at. If you pressed me to make a guess based on what we know.. Something awful happened to her. Araiza had consensual sex with her. She was underage but Araiza had a plausible reason to believe she was of age. I have no idea if he was involved in any aspect of the alleged rape. Regarding the team.. I think he’ll be cut because they may feel he eroded their trust by omitting or misleading them on ancillary details around the allegation and public pressure, not because they believe he did it or not.
  6. You do realize statutory rape is a thing, yes? We can’t talk about the validity of that allegation because it may come across as harming her side? If she said she goes to Grossmont (both sides seem to agree she said that) and it’s both a high school and college, and she’s at a college party, what do you believe that implies? It doesn’t mean she’s lying about the assault allegation. It doesn’t mean she’s a slut. What it does mean is that Araiza likely shouldn’t be found guilty of statutory rape, and maybe people should stop lumping that in with the other allegation because they made their mind up that he’s guilty and it’s more dirt on the grave.
  7. Yea… independent of the major allegation, if that’s the story from both sides on the age issue, I’m saying Araiza’s side is correct. If you go to a college party, and tell people you go to a school that is both a high school and college without clarifying which … you know what you’re doing by saying that.
  8. I think she allegedly led people to believe she was in college. As a former college student, I definitely did not ID check other college students that I had sex with.
  9. I shared a story earlier in the thread where a girl in my high school had sex with a group of guys at a party. The next day, when it made its rounds around school, she made allegations that they raped her. It went nowhere because her friends at the party immediately told the police that she was lying and it was consensual. ——— I feel for women who come forward. I know most don’t and it’s because people, historically, would drag them. That’s awful. I also know guys who have had the word thrown around at them after a one night stand to one person was thought to be a potential relationship to the other. Nothing police involved, but it’s still not a word to throw around casually.
  10. Ive seen nobody call her a slut or imply she’s such.. until you brought it up with your caps lock venting. I have seen people say the other side of the story, which is allegedly backed up, is that she told or led others to believe that she was 18. Seems context, legally, is very important there.
  11. I doubt any of that occurred, but I do think there’s two explanations for McDermott seeming visibly shaken: 1). He now believes Araiza may have done this. Based on either new info about the alleged rape or new info on the outskirts of the claim that was hidden or led to believe differently that now erodes their trust in Araiza. 2). He believes Araiza and feels for how this is affecting some members of the community, while knowing he may have to look a man in the eye that he thinks is innocent and destroy his dream. The entire ordeal is awful, but in terms of not being able to sleep and looking visibly upset .. that’s what I’m thinking is going on in his head.
  12. If you had sex with someone, you were in position to be accused of sexual assault. Gang rape.. sure, we can agree that is a bit of an outlier.
  13. Araiza needs a smoking gun. Text exchange leaked and/or people at the party to go public and defend him. Anything short of that, and he’s gone and the Bills still deal with the short term stigma in the media and long term loss of a punter you invested draft capital into. I doubt anyone could withstand a sexual assault allegation in the league right now, but definitely not when there’s gruesome pictures being circulated and salacious details such as her being 17 and him saying to get tested .. which equates to Twitter posts of “rape of a minor and he intentionally gave her chlamydia.” of course lacking any context.
  14. McDermott is a great human being and is also the face of the team that can plausibly not know some of the answers he needs to be “not knowing the answers to” right now. Beane will surely speak, at least, after they make a roster decision on Araiza. Not sure why he needs to be out there right now. They released a statement. (Wasn’t the greatest). McD went out there and showed that they care about how this looks to some of the fanbase. And honestly, maybe he’s better at showing empathy. Beane is good dude, but he’s also way more free wheeling and joking in his vibe than McDermott.
  15. I don’t know that it would be, tbh. Arazia just happens to be the first guy after Watson’s ordeal to get hit with a sexual assault related accusation. Seeing how media has covered the story, and how the Twitter crowd has reacted.. essentially demanding he be sacrificed to the bowels of hell.. I honestly don’t know if ANYONE in the league stands a chance if they get hit with a sexual assault allegation right now.
  16. Oh, I am… I’m just assuming that they would at least know the age of the woman at the time this is alleged to have occurred. I’m also assuming the investigation corroborated Araiza’s side of the story. Maybe I’m wrong and the Bills thought they could sneak a rapist onto the team right after Deshaun Watson’s offseason…. But I have to imagine those two findings (that he was believable and she was underage but there is context) were provided to the team during the investigation. but yes… definitely assumptions on my part.
  17. The third party PI should’ve been able to at least find out some semblance of the story, but also that she was 17, no? Im not advocating destroying a 21 year old for having sex with a 17 year old that allegedly was portraying herself as 18. Anyone who is, I’m sorry… but I hope your child never goes to parties in college if you’re expecting ID checks before sex. However, if the Bills knew that the story of gang rape accusations were out there… and maybe they truly believe, or believed at the time, based on their findings that he’s innocent. How did they think they could withstand the public onslaught from media and Twitter of both “rape” and “sex w a minor”. They could both be true or the rape could be false and he was misled on age … but how on earth could the Bills have believed they could navigate both of those allegations? America in 2022… where the accused not only needs to be innocent, but able to prove that innocence within 24-48 hours. If he did it, then **** him and cut him yesterday with no looking back. If he didn’t.. well, we may never know.
  18. He said what PR people surely advised him to say. Ill read into his visible look and demeanor. Not reading anything into the answers. Social Media is so toxic that he quite literally cannot say anything other than what he said.
  19. Speaking strictly about the player personnel angle.. If I’m McDermott and I found out new info that alludes to Araiza not being truthful with the team, I think that would makes things easier for him.. at least you have a basis to release him. It’s the limbo of not knowing what’s true and what’s not that would way heavy on the normal, non-social media, human being. Firing someone who you believe is being truthful because the mob demands it would gut anyone with integrity. My guess, Araiza’s people may have misled or omitted some details independent of the main allegation. Enough to damage their trust in him, and he’ll be gone tomorrow.
  20. He really can’t say that. Regardless of what he believes, saying “No, Never” would have put a bounty on his head from the Twitter crowd.
  21. Pretty sure Steve Bannon’s lawyer would be an improvement over these two.
  22. Nah.. just Bills podcasters and big name fan accounts gathering Twitter clout by the barrel.
  23. Very likely he found out about it after. If this is even about him. Chlamydia is wildly common and is treated immediately by the attending physician when you test positive or have been exposed. It’s not something people are generally knowing they have until told they were exposed or w symptoms.
  24. Followed up with the laziest strawman of the day.
