Easy to say after the fact, but that felt like a go for it moment. -

Howard and Armstead both playing with injuries that can get worse. Tua back out after getting a concussion. Quite the look from them trying to win this game. -

Really frustrating that Tua has so much more time than Allen out there. I know they’re blitzing, but this is rough to watch. Heat the dude up! -

They’re somehow running on us wayyy better than they’ve done first two games. -

I mean, whatever, his only hope was our DL doing anything and they’ve been dominated so far by the Miami OL. Not going to blame him for trying too hard. -

James Cook has literally been useless out there so far -

That’s because we’re rushing 4 and playing off coverage. Basically waiting for them to have a negative play, which never came on that drive. -

All their might? We got rocked that drive. Defense has to do something different other than letting Tua go 1..2.. launch every play. -

Going to need to force turnovers in this game. What we can’t do is just let Tua sit there in rhythm. -

Allen thought he had it blocked up. Knox took care of his guy. He didn’t anticipate the back side pressure because we had two guys over there who whiffed. -

Nobody is panicking. We’re just annoyed that the offense gave them a chance to create this TD because Dorsey went Daboll special with two horrible run plays. -

Two pathetic runs set that disaster up Offense stopped itself. -

Ah yes, apparently the Super Bowl Champion has to have the leagues top Offense, top Defensive Line, top 5 LB tandem, All-Pro Safety, top tier slot Corner, All-Pro outside Corner AND Micah Hyde. Definitely a House of Cards out there dependent upon one player. -
“harder than most” is what he said… which makes no sense for a team as loaded as we are, with his backup being a guy who (according to everyone in the building) has been ready to start for over a year. Hyde is a big loss, but most teams don’t have a fourth year in the same system Jaquan Johnson behind their starting safety.

Tim Settle is the big question mark for me. Daquan Jones is a stud, but more of a space occupier. Bryant is solid, but also more in the mold of a big body space eater. Without Phillips and Oliver, we’re more relying on a DE kicking inside to provide pass rush up the middle. If Settle can go, that gives us at least one DT with strong pass rush ability. Would love to see Edmunds & Milano used in pass rush/simulated pass rush throughout the game. -
People keep forgetting who Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer were before they started balling out in McDermott’s system. We love them as people, and they’ve been very good players.. but we didn’t sign them as premier FA’s. They became who they are here. No reason we can’t find the next iteration of them in-house, in the draft or via mid-level FA. We have a particular type of player we target for the Safety positions, but we don’t need Derwin James back there.

Von will have his running mates, Rousseau, Boogie and AJ out there hunting. He knows it’s up to them to provide cover for the secondary. I’d pay good money to hear Von’s message for the Defense today.- 321 replies

Hot take: Secondary will be fine this week vs the fish.

It was not dry in LA when the Bills were out there. I know what you’re talking about, but it was a rare weather event for that part of the country. Mid-high 90’s with humidity. I live in Atlanta, and I was sweating through a dri-fit polo like it was nothing at the tailgate. It was, quite literally, Florida weather. -
KC will destroy Buffalo in Week 6 because no Micah Hyde? You criticize those that are ho hum over his loss, meanwhile you’re all the way on tilt towards the other side of overreaction.
-
Im sure he will, but he’s got a mediocre-at-best OL with its best player gutting it out off an injury. I have yet to see a McDermott coached secondary struggle. Maybe that ends tomorrow. Or maybe the coaches and scheme are a bigger component than we realize. Hyde and Poyer weren’t “Hyde and Poyer” until they came to Buffalo.

Yes, “thanks Beane” Thank you for having two safeties you’ve developed in the system for multiple years so they can be as prepared for this moment as possible. Thank you for drafting two promising young corners to hold it down until Tre and Dane come back. Thank you for having such a legit DL rotation that we still have a ton of firepower even down Phillips and Oliver.

I don’t think anybody really lists him as an injury in that context? In reports like this, at least.

So we’re looking at a back end of Hamlin-Johnson and Elam-Benford-Johnson. Somebody lock Taron Johnson in his hotel room right now.
