Why exactly are we favored by 3.5 in Baltimore?
SCBills replied to Adamb412's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’ll take a shot at who plays: Allen Dawkins-Saffold-Morse-??-Brown Singletary-Moss-Cook Gilliam Knox-Morris Diggs-Davis-McKenzie-Crowder-Shakir Von-Rousseau-AJ-Boogie-Shaq Jones-Oliver-Settle-Bryant Edmunds-Milano Johnson Elam-Ingram Johnson-Poyer That means we have a noticeable downgrade likely at CB and RG, assuming Jackson and Bates can’t go. Who’s roster would you take on Sunday? Both Offenses are ultra-dependent on the QB and don’t have much of a traditional running game. Both have some legit weapons in the passing game. Would you rather have Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson? Would you rather have that Bills Defense or the Ravens Defense? I think most would choose Josh Allen and the Bills Defense. That’s why they’re favored. -
Elam will be starting next to Tre White when he comes back. Elam and Morris lost in the shuffle as guys who have really impressed early season.

Can’t even keep track anymore. Had no idea he was even hurt. Getting to the point where Bills PR is just going to start releasing injury reports on Key & Peele names.

Gotta steal that random dude Denver hired for Hackett. -
So many injuries that Tommy Doyle slides in with a torn ACL and half of us don’t even blink.

Time for Beane to "break glass in case of emergency"?
SCBills replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall
OL rarely becomes available. Probably not going to have a chance to address that in season. Also, we’re currently fine there (imo). Wish they run blocked better, but they’re a solid offensive line with decent vet depth. DT & CB are short term injuries. Knock on wood, we get to a point after the bye where our 4 man DT rotation finally sees the field together and Tre White / Kaiir Elam are backed up by Dane Jackson & a healed up Christian Benford. Safety & WR is where I’d be looking. If it’s me, and we can make one move, I’m going full court press on Odell Beckham. He should be affordable under the cap we have left and we don’t need to trade away picks for him. Love the potential of Gabe Davis… don’t trust him as WR2 for a full season right now. We’ve played three games so far. He’s missed one, played hobbled in another and was healthy for exactly one game.. the opener. -
Think we need to see who’s playing. Buffalo without Morse, Bates, Brown, Davis, Oliver, Jackson & Poyer is a very different team than that in which those guys are healthy. I’d predict Benford, Phillips and Kumerow are inactive. I mean Diggs and Knox were basically unplayable midway through the 3rd and we were missing our entire right side of the line. You may be overreacting a bit… If we find out many of those guys are out against Baltimore, ok sure… Do your thing.

Oliver. Would he super cool if the two breakout candidates of 2022 (Davis/Oliver) could get healthy.

Was Jaquan Johnson really that bad in his first career start?
SCBills replied to Wayne Arnold's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not sure how to quantify what we saw in such a weird game where the Miami O was rarely on the field. What I do think, is that talent is talent.. and talent in this system shines through. For all the talk of Elam/Benford, and Benford is good.. Elam is that guy. -

SCBills replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ultra-aggressive response when I’m saying “don’t break glass” and wait out the injuries. Look at our schedule. This is the toughest part of it. It’s cake, relatively speaking, after the bye week/Green Bay. No sense in making a panic move for short term injuries (Hyde aside) They could absolutely use another outside WR though.. as long as that’s a cheap/non-trade addition in Odell. Can’t just hope Davis stays healthy all year when he hasn’t shown he can. -
Poor coaching by McDermott is becoming a theme

McDermott is getting roasted in the media today. He needs a bounce back win Sunday in a big way. Not for his job security this year, but these voices will become LOUD if this team is sitting there at .500 -
Time for Beane to "break glass in case of emergency"?
SCBills replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall
It can be. We’re 0-3 on the road. 3-0 at home. Bills need to be locked in on getting the one seed. This disastrous injury situation occurring in a four game stretch of Miami, Baltimore, KC before the bye is not ideal… and quite literally the worst time to happen with Tre still out as well. We really just need to get people back. The only FA acquisition I have my eyes on is Beckham. Davis is really good. He’s also played 1 health game out of 3 in his first year as WR2. Bills could clearly use another legit outside WR. -
Yes. To get in FG range, we had time for one middle of the field pass and then had to work the sidelines. To get a TD, we had to go a similar distance, but had time for one middle of the field pass (get to around the 30) and then we can work sideline or take end zone shots. With the OL issues we were having, Allen didn’t have time to sit back and let quick sideline routes develop with the blitzes.. it was that bad given exhaustion and injuries. If they want to blitz and let Allen break contain with the ability to throw to any part of the end zone, I’d take my chances there.

Poyer should be back, although I'm preparing myself for another "looks good to go, whoops inactive" given how this season has been going. Benford can play through a broken hand. Corners do it all the time. We'll see what Dane Jackson can do in practice this week. Kaiir Elam was a stud out there on Sunday.

Is the Bills approach to injuries too conservative?
SCBills replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Dolphins are trying to change the culture and make the Playoffs. Bills are a Super Bowl contender with the Super Bowl as the only goal. I have zero issues with our injury approach, and yes.. to answer.. we are very conservative with injuries. Armstead, Howard and post- concussion Tua would not have played yesterday if they were Bills. -
DO NOT RUSH TRE BACK I know the temptation is there, and it sucks so much that this injury plague is occurring during the toughest part of our schedule, but rushing Tre back when we’ve already lost Hyde for the year would be unforgivable.
-
McDermott had this team READY yesterday. We went into the game depleted on defense due to injury, and you would not have known it one bit. Credit to McD and the staff for that. Now, in-game… 3 Things: 1). 3rd and long, in deep shot territory, against a deep shot team. Rushing 3 was unforgivable there. Especially with two young Safeties. 2). 4th and 4 and we kick a FG. I don’t believe in football karma, but that felt like a go for it moment. Up 3, in a game that we were searching for that final TD, and we kick. Bass misses the chip shot. 3). We knew the weather forecast. We know we’re a passing team. Why do we only have 5 WR’s active, with one being a banged up Davis? I don’t know what Shakir is, but I know we desperately needed fresh legs out there.

Comical at this point. Maybe Dane Jackson is back this week?
-
Agreed. Offenses are very ideologically similar. If we can get Poyer and Oliver back though... our defense clears theirs by a mile. They don't have a Von Miller, and Rousseau >>> Oweh.

AFC Chiefs are definitely a step below what they were last year. They, like the Bills, lost a fluky game to a team they are better than, but that Offense is not the explosive Chiefs Offense of years past. Chargers can't be taken seriously for the time being. So much talent, yet they keep losing big games and randomly have games like this one against the Jags. Jags/T-Law may be a Playoff team in the AFC South. No idea what Miami is. They are 3-0, and clearly a good team, but also kind of feel like a house of cards. 2-0 in games they were dominated in... AFCW was hilariously overrated. Raiders are a joke, Chargers are still the Chargers and the Broncos are the worst 2-1 team I've ever seen. Still the Chiefs division. AFCN looks like the Ravens Division unless Cinci figures out how to protect Burrow. Browns could be dangerous if they stay afloat until Watson comes back. BILLS Way too many injuries. It's not sustainable and there really isn't a solution. Happens during the toughest part of our schedule and they've got to find a way to gut through it. Allen dependence is absurd. Coaches rely way too much on him in tough games. No running game, yet again. Speaking of running game.. More James Cook. I don't care if he's skinny and can't block... Singletary missed a block that led to a turnover anyway. Nine catches for Singletary who did the least with them. Give those to Cook. Enough with Moss... Singletary lead back, rotate in Cook heavier and heavier if he shows he can handle it. Coaching. The good.. McDermott had a depleted team READY. They outplayed Miami and the Defense was really good. The bad.. Lack of game feel. Rushing 3 on 3rd and long in deep shot territory was so, sooo bad. Kicking a FG up 3 on 4th and 4 just felt off. At that point it felt like a TD ends it and a FG just keeps it the same game. Also, why - when we were aware of the heat - did we not have a WR6 active? We rolled into the game with 4.5 WR's as Davis clearly was not healthy. Kumerow goes down early. By the end of the game Allen is out there with 3 backup OL, a backup TE and WR's having to come off the field every play. Losing so many close games in a row isn't bad luck. It's a problem. And it's a very valid criticism of this team.. until it's not anymore. The Baltimore game is pretty big. We are a beat up team at 2-1, in a wildly competitive AFC and at KC still looms before the bye. We went from feeling unbeatable to dragging ourselves to the bye week. Bottom Line... we have to get healthy. No team can withstand what we're going through right now. And Allen needs help. He's the best player in the NFL, on a roster everyone agrees is the best (when healthy) in the NFL... How he continually is relied upon to be everything for us is beyond me.
-
I don't necessarily disagree. He's not used like Cam, but the usage/dependence on JA is way too much. Chiefs don't rely on Mahomes as much as we rely on Allen. I understand the circumstances, but yesterday was absurd.

Zach Moss must be another Hall of Famer practice player
SCBills replied to extrahammer's topic in The Stadium Wall
Because Singletary is a JAG and James Cook is a rookie who has to earn his playing time. Bigger issue is our run blocking and run scheme. We're a pass-centric offense, it is what it is, but the issues seem more related to the OL. -
Kudos to Defense - The Offense is What Failed
SCBills replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall
40 minutes TOP doomed the Bills. Credit to the Dolphins for relentlessly blitzing and keeping the big plays locked down. Bills had no gas when they got to the red zone on these 7-8 minute drives. 4th Quarter, half the starters were out due to their bodies giving out on them. I’ve never seen anything like that in my life.
