Agreed, but now Schneider calls Beane and says “hey, is that 2nd on the table?” And Beane responds with “For a guy we have to extend at 30M and says he doesn’t want to play long term for…?” And repeat for any cold weather contender and teams with assets/cap like NE. Kinda kills his negotiating power…

Sounds more like a “let’s see what our DE room looks like this Summer and if you haven’t found a home yet and are willing to come back on a low base/incentives contract, we can work something out”. I have no idea what Von’s market would be. He'd likely only play for a contender or maybe a team like Denver. Not sure any of those teams have interest at him on a 1 year / 10M type deal that we see aging pass rushers get after FA and the draft are all sorted out.

From other reporters on X, it sounds like the more realistic trade Seattle has to consider is a mix of assets that equal a 2nd. Doesnt sound like they’re even getting a 2nd Round pick offer. DK wanting 30M kills their leverage and if the warm weather thing is an actual deal breaker and he’s serious about playing for a contender, that removes Buffalo, Kansas City, Baltimore, Green Bay etc..

Greg Rousseau Extended (4 years / 80M / 54M Guaranteed)

I don’t get why so many people think Rousseau’s extension closes the door on signing/trading for another big EDGE piece.. As pointed out above, Crosby, who everyone would’ve loved to trade for, is at around 35M per year. If the Bills sign Sweat to 20-25M, that’s 40-45M per for two players. If they trade for Hendrickson, that’s gets pricey, but the beauty of Rousseau’s contract/age, is that the big money likely hits in the next 3,4,5 years, and I guarantee you at 24 years old / 29 when his deal is up, the Bills hope is to restructure and extend Rousseau again. Which means they could take on a bigger EDGE cap hit these next 3-4 years before they are ever paying heavy for two EDGE players. -
Unfortunately, the same reason I don’t think we should pay him, is also the same reason im not sure we’d get a pick back that makes sense to move him for. (Unless he’s committed to holding out and being a distraction) This draft class is LOADED at running back. Are teams going to be willing to send us a Day 2 pick for a guy they know wants 15M per year or just draft a guy? Cook is good enough that I think teams could be interested in trading for the sure thing, but this draft class probably lowers our negotiation ability if we are open to trading him.

Remember flying out to LA and seeing him dominate opening night. 70% of the stadium were Bills fans and we were all convinced we were winning it all with him. Then he got hurt and could never get back to form. Sad it played out this way, and it seemed like a restructured deal was going to be worked out, but at the end of the day… this is probably for the best.

I don’t love it, but as a RB, I get it. That said, he’s also not Saquon getting tagged. Hes a 2 down RB until he learns how to pass pro, that has a year left on his deal. Where I just want him off the team for a draft pick is the not one, not two, but three or four comments/emojis he made in reference to the Saquon contract. My man.. you are not Saquon, and you’ve made your point very known even prior to that.

Hollywood Brown back to KC , didn’t take long

Kinda glad he’s not an option for us. Samuel looked good when healthy, but until he proves he has any health longevity, I view him as a .5 receiver on this roster. -

I think the gamble Beane might also be making is that if we hand out a big contract or two this offseason, while outside void years, there may not be much flex… in these extensions, the hope is likely that once the big money hits for Rousseau and Shakir (maybe Bernard) that it’s time for another extension. Especially Rousseau given how young he is.. he’ll be in his prime when his deal comes up. -
Best VP we’ve ever had and it’s not close.

Beane giving everyone 4 year deals this year?

I’m increasingly thinking Garrett is a pipe dream the way Cleveland is handling this. I think Hendrickson is a very distinct possibility and I’m starting to be more open to simply signing Josh Sweat if a trade isn’t going to be possible. -
Another one - Trey Hendrickson asks for a trade from Cincy

Fair points. If the plan is to address the DL through the Draft by signing a mercenary EDGE and drafting a DT early, I can see that being underwhelming. If the idea is pay Rousseau and then make a big trade or sign Sweat AND use an early pick on the DL… I see the vision. I think Beane realizes that a talented, big/physical 1T needs to be next to Ed Oliver. And I think Beane realizes a legitimate 10+ sack guy needs to be opposite Rousseau. That can be accomplished via trade, signing a guy like Sweat and through the Draft, but we very clearly still need 2-3 new pieces on the DL. -

I think moves like this make it very clear they are looking to drastically improve this year. Rousseau at up to 20M per year, along with the cap savings, along with the structures of Shakir (and likely Bernard’s) contract, make it pretty clear they are locking up young players at team friendly contract structures, with the hope further extensions are warranted when the big money hits. This, in turn, provides cap clarity and opens up cap for more established players they may want to pay immediately in FA or via trade. Will certainly be interesting to see if they’re comfortable with extending Bernard and/or have any common ground to be found with Cook. -

20M per year for Rousseau is on the low end of what many thought he’d get. He's not a Batman, but he and Oliver could be two big time Robin’s on an improved DL.- 534 replies

People might take you seriously that you’re actually concerned about measles outbreaks if you didn’t then default lib and deflect when people point out the very real issue of unvaccinated, and many times unhealthy, illegal migrants flooding the border for the past 4 years.

Doesn’t really matter what they look like Week 1. They lead the league in arrests by an absurd margin and go to the Super Bowl every year. Come Playoffs, both Rice and Worthy will be out there. I get people using this as ammo supporting why we didn’t pick him, but he’ll be out there when it matters.. just like Chiefs players always are.
