Ravens Defense if we see them in the Divisonal. Josh Allen will, once again, be asked to outduel another elite QB, but in reality be going up against a much better Defense than the one backing him up.
-
No, not this year, but in years past Mahomes has been the steady QB whereas Allen has had some bad games. That Ravens/Texans stretch this year is the only reason Josh isn’t the runaway MVP. I think JA is the best QB in the NFL. I think Mahomes has leveled off but has the best Defense/Coaching/FO of any elite QB and Allen/Lamar/Burrow have continued to ascend. And Allen is the most clutch and most physically gifted of those three. But we haven’t gotten the one seed yet.. and some of that is on him. And the reason Lamar has a chance to MV3 is due to a brutal two game stretch early in the season.
-
Love that we have to prepare ourselves for the possibility of Lamar MV3 after a game where his Defense held a playoff team to zero offensive points. ….. ZERO Im not saying Lamar doesn’t deserve to be in the debate, because if we’re being honest… Allen’s biggest issue is that he just has more bad/meh games in the regular season than Lamar and Pat do. Take away one of the Houston, Baltimore, New England games and Josh is the runaway MVP still. But every year, he has 3-4 of these games. Lamar and Pat don’t have but 1 or 2. Its part of why we haven’t gotten a 1 seed and its part of why Lamar keeps winning regular season awards. JA is the MVP. And I’d still be grossed out if he lost it, but I know this… he better have a game on Sunday…

Priority Free Agents for Buffalo? Early Draft talk..
SCBills replied to Victory Formation's topic in The Stadium Wall
As of right now, I’d keep the Offense in tact and offer Cooper a two year, but more team friendly deal. If he wants more, so be it, but it would be good to have him as a bridge while Keon and another young WR develop (see below) Id use one of the three Top 64 picks on a WR since Samuel is probably stuck on this team next year but is made of glass and Shakir is more of a want extension than a need for me. He showed his limitations down the field against the Pats, but is still a very good short/intermediate slot receiver. As long as his contract demands aren’t excessive, I would extend him, but you never know what his side thinks. Cook is a play out the contract a walk player for me, but I’ll admit he’s making that difficult. Rest of the draft & FA goes to the Defense. Id extend Rousseau but not really that interested in paying big money to Bernard or Benford. What would Brett Veach do? Well, he’s probably going to let Bolton walk and he’s already let go of good young corners. If Myles Garrett becomes available… tear everything up and figure out a way to get him on this team. -
Ravens lose to Browns and Steelers beat Bengals, and they flip. Dont really see a world that this happens unless the Broncos eliminate the Bengals this week and the Browns go back to Jameis who can either throw 5 picks or 5 TD’s.

Undersized linebacker playing behind undersized DT’s who have been playing at a disappointing level for much of the season. It’s why Bernard hasn’t looked as good as last year & It’s why he’s been banged up for much of the year. Bernard is a good player, but not elite. Hes typical of this defense (and really most of team outside Allen). It’s why the motto “Do your 1/11” is honestly a lynch pin for this team. There isn’t a game wrecker or game changer on this Defense, but if Ed Oliver, DaQuan Jones and the DT/DL rotation start playing at a consistently good level (don’t need to be elite), all of a sudden splash play Bernard shows up and Taron Johnson looks like an All Pro again… etc etc.

Ravens likely facing the Chargers or Steelers gives me some hope they can get knocked off if we get “Playoff Lamar” and he throws a pick or two and some errant passes. We can’t take the Broncos or Colts for granted, especially with the way our Defense has been playing lately, but if we lose to one of them.. it’s catastrophic, whereas there’s absolutely a world where the Chargers go into Baltimore and win that game. Herbert lately is looking like a guy who can change the narrative on that team. And while the Steelers are in a nosedive, they always give the Ravens issues. Then, if we do see the Ravens in the Divisional, I do think home field and the fact McDermott and Babich have seen them earlier in the season are two positives for us.

Broncos, Ravens, Chiefs - Can the Bills run through this gauntlet.
SCBills replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
Oh, I will… yes, in hurricane force winds our defense finally had a great defensive performance when it mattered. Yup.. and the Bengals won that game because of Lou Anarumo. -

We had prime Poyer and Hyde for a bit and still had letdown playoff performances from this Defense. Josh Allen had to go off to save us from a Wild Card loss to 80 year old Phillip Rivers. 13 seconds the following year. -

Youre just stating opinions as fact and nobody views Kyle Hamilton in the same way they do Myles Garrett, Chris Jones, Nick Bosa, TJ Watt etc.. Weve been let down by our defense over and over again because our DL gets WORKED when it matters and our back seven plays off far too much. You could give us Kyle Hamilton.. it wouldn’t change much for this Defense and their historical (and now recent) issues. -

Nobody views any of those players as “game wreckers” in the sense of anyone using that term. They're big time players, but if someone wants to play that game they’ll point Taron Johnson, Christian Benford, Terrell Bernard, Ed Oliver and Greg Rousseau for us… which we know hasn’t been good enough when it’s mattered. -

Its scheme and coaching. Baltimore’s Defense doesn’t have a game wrecker. But they’ve been elite since middle of the season. -
KC about to have a path that rivals two years ago when they got: BYE Jags Beat up Bengals

Chiefs won a playoff game without Mahomes for much of the game. Ravens treaded water, made the playoffs and were a fluke 99 yard return for a TD away from winning a playoff game with Snoop Huntley. Hurts off the Eagles?… Elite OL, Saquan, Brown, Smith and Goedert. That Eagles? Most us aren’t arguing Josh doesn’t have help.. He has an elite OL, 3 good RB’s, 2 good TE’s and a solid group of WR’s. It’s a Championship level Offense with Josh that can absolutely steamroll people if they’re on. It’s not what the Eagles have though. Most unbiased people would take what the Ravens have in Henry, Andrews, Likely and the highest separation rate in league for WR’s. Issue is, nevermind our Defense letting us down every year… this year, KC has a top tier defense and Baltimore’s defense has been elite since Week 8. Meanwhile our Defense is regressing to its playoff selves. Like it does… year after year. It’s exhausting and it’s a fair criticism on what Josh has to deal with. -
Definitely willing to let it play out as I think Keon has WR1 upside, but I’d be lying if I didn’t admit I’ve started getting a bit frustrated seeing how well he’s doing on KC.

Allen, Brady and the Offense absolutely can. It is as it’s always been… can McDermott, his DC and the Defense hold up their end of the bargain.- 325 replies

It is funny that in a game where his Defense literally held the opponent to ZERO POINTS late into the game so far, we have to get inundated with Lamar “MVP Moment” takes.

Ravens/Texans, Christmas Day Game 2 (no Bills talk please)
SCBills replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
It’s honestly comical how wide open Lamar’s receiving targets are game in / game out. Some of it is due to buying time, but a lot of it is drop back, intermediate throw … wide open. -
Watching the Chiefs dominate on Defense all year. Watching the Ravens bludgeon teams with Henry and also have an elite Defense after a rocky start. And here we are, with a Defensive Head Coach, and a team reliant on Josh Allen going nuclear to be where we are and will be needing him to be to go into battle against Lamar and hopefully Pat, with a worse Defense. Hes so obviously the MVP. And he’s going to need to be that plus some moving forward if we have any ideas of getting to the Super Bowl.

Pretty sure the Ravens Defense has been an elite Defense since week 8… think I saw that this past week. Both the Chiefs and Ravens looking like they’re rounding into very well balanced squads heading into the postseason. -

With the way this game is going, it’s looking like the Chiefs get a bye and then either a Chargers team that can’t beat them or one of two frauds who have completely fallen off down the stretch. Also miss facing the Bills and Ravens, only will see one of them, at home. Perhaps the biggest 1 seed advantage in recent memory. -

Chiefs likely have a cakewalk to the AFC CG if Baltimore wins this game. Its ok to want an easier path. -

He’s not the MVP .. and it’s honestly annoying to me that some want to pretend he is. But for those that want an MVP debate, Lamar is giving them ammo today. -

Texans doing their best to give Lamar a late season MVP surge -
Didn’t realize Houston was only a game back of Baltimore. Couldn’t they conceivably get the 3 if they win today and Steelers lose next week / Baltimore wins next week? With CIN playing PIT, not unlikely the way PIT is fading.
