Josh Allen gets record contract extension $330 million
SCBills replied to The 9 Isles's topic in The Stadium Wall
Dallas fans are apoplectic that Dak is making more than him on his new contract. -
DK Metcalf traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers
SCBills replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agreed. That doesn’t mean trading for DK was the move, but game changing moves (at least public ones) are all but gone. Kansas City hit on Rice and probably hit on Worthy. We’ll see how Rice comes back from injury and how Worthy is in year two but they’ve had prime Kelce for a long time up until recently… and recently their offense has been bad (except against us in the postseason) They also have their Chris Jones. Allen has had Diggs, who was a shell of himself last year here and never came up clutch in the playoffs. We know we need elite level dudes outside JA and maybe our O-Tackles, every year, yet it never happens. Not via FA, trade or the Draft. Let’s see what happens tomorrow and moving forward, but I’m thinking it’s more of the same… just with more money to spend than we’re used to. -
It’s because he’s a RB, who struggles in pass pro. Meaning we need to also pay for a reliable 3rd down back. If we don’t pay Cook, we can pay extra somewhere like corner… Chavarius Ward or safety.. Jevon Holland. To me, that makes way more sense than paying Cook. And heaven forbid we finally get JA top half of the league WR room.

Another one - Trey Hendrickson asks for a trade from Cincy
SCBills replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
You want to give 30 year old Hendrickson, 27 year old Crosby money? Im struggling with this one… Almost rather overpay for Sweat if we can get him for 25M per and no draft compensation. -
DK Metcalf traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers

It’s pretty hilarious how every time a massive deal like this occurs… the player, the team trading the player, the team trading for/paying the player and the Cincinnati Bengals all start trending. -

5 years / 150M is too much tbh… DK is a monster and is in his prime, but I have serious concerns on how a physical specimen reliant WR ages once that deal gets into years 4 and 5. Unless this is a fake six year deal like Vons was. -
Yup.. everyone wants to pretend he’s some locker room cancer, yet his teammates and a ton of guys around the league always have his back.

This is viewing the south as “Florida” And with Florida, anyone given equal financials and living in Hoboken or Buffalo vs Miami or Tampa is choosing the latter unless we have a contender… something NE, and the NY teams currently do not.
-
Tyreek Hill picked Miami over New York, in part, due to taxes. Northern teams are simply fighting upstream with certain players when even NYC & Boston area teams have to overpay based of stuff out of their control.

Another one - Trey Hendrickson asks for a trade from Cincy
SCBills replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bengals people believe their FO has basically told Hendrickson to find a trade that blows them away or else he’s playing for Cinci next year. If I’m the Bills, I tell his agent that we will make an offer to tempt them but only if he’s willing to sign long term on a team friendly contract. His other option is playing in Cinci and then becoming a FA another year older. Similar to DK, I don’t know how many teams are willing to give away a premium asset(s) and extend at 30M+ per year. As pointed out above.. Commanders make sense. And if they’re involved, we’re not getting Hendrickson. -
Browns ink Myles Garrett to an Extension
SCBills replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall
Cowboys and Bengals most affected. Parsons is going to want more than 40M per year and the Bengals already stated that Ja’Marr Chase will be the highest paid non-QB when they get the deal done. -
Fwiw.. shouldn’t this give pause to a team like LAC or HOU in trading for him? If his asthma is truly affecting him like that, can’t hate on the man for it.. but those teams will likely have to play in KC, BUF, BAL etc when it matters..

The dead cap we took on last year from Diggs and the dead cap we’re taking on this year from Von is brutal. Both correct decisions to move on from, but this further highlights why this offseason has to be a hit for Beane.

Thats why for me, its dependent on price… If he replaces Von, ok cool. If he’s being paid to start opposite Rousseau… you’d think we’d have learned a lesson with Von post-injury and signing a guy like Samuel that - shocker - can’t stay healthy. -

Probably the highest ceiling player available if he doesn’t become the Defense’s version of Curtis Samuel. Wouldn’t hate it depending on the cost. -

At least we didn’t have a prominent player telling everyone in media that will listen that we’re a Myles Garrett away from winning a Super Bowl. That would be awkward. -

Bigger worry for us should be DK doesn’t want to play in the cold because of his asthma and Hendrickson now costs 30M per year, at minimum, on extension with Garrett and Crosby’s deals. He won’t get paid like them, but like Saquon’s deal and Cook, they will be referenced. -

“I want to win” code switches real quick when a team pays you 35-40M per year as a pass rusher.- 216 replies

Thats definitely changing, but unless Beane wants to go full Howie Roseman and treat void years like lines of coke, I just don’t see how it makes sense to have a 75M+ backfield when you have an Allen, Burrow, Mahomes etc.. The Ravens aren’t even paying that for Henry, nevermind the fact they signed him for a 2-3 year window last year. I don’t blame Cook for going on the offensive in wanting to get paid given the Bills having never handed out a contract like that to a RB under Beane, but it didn’t need to be so constantly public, and at a certain point… maybe we just do right by him and trade him somewhere that will? I hear the “run him into the ground and let him walk” sentiment, but I also don’t want Cook playing all year on pins and needles worried one wrong move and his future earnings disappear. While I’m not a huge fan of all this.. I also believe he’s good enough to not have to worry about that. Someone will pay him what he wants right now.. As long as we’re not getting completely clowned on the trade I’d do it A) because it makes sense for us and B) because it’s the right thing to do for him
