Went to Pasadena and Atlanta. Spoiler alert….we lost. But it was a great experience both times regardless. I have to say that I much preferred the atmosphere of being outside in the sun of Pasadena over being inside the dark dome in Atlanta. Seeing all the planes, helicopters, and blimps circling over the Rose Bowl as we drove to the game gave you the feeling that you were truly at the center of the universe for that moment in history.

I’ve always wondered if the problem is evaluation BEFORE they’re selected or training/coaching AFTER they’re on the team. I believe it’s as much or more of the latter, than the former.

All true but it’s not as if the Bills simply took a pass each round. The real problem is who they drafted instead of a WR. So fast forward to 2024 and our Defensive roster (where we chose to spend our draft picks) is STILL in worse shape than the offensive side. That’s the real problem.

It’s really pretty simple. Just consider the Von contract as a gamble that didn’t pay off. They swing for the fences hoping to grab a Super Bowl and it just didn’t work, regardless of the injury. So fast forward to 2024 and they’d still have an aging, overpaid pass rusher just with a trophy to show for it. The current cap challenge would still be here. Accept it and get younger.

I’m no cap expert to be sure but if what I’m reading here is true about Von then I’d cut him loose. He contributed literally nothing this past season. While it hurts to pay a guy not to play for you (I absolutely love how Brad Pitt tells an aging David Justice that in the movie Money Ball) , the ‘savings’ sound like they can be well used to buy way more than he’s going to contribute.

The illness isn’t the one year contracts; that’s the symptom. The root cause is swinging and missing at Epenesa and Rousseau. If those two guys were performing at anywhere their top draft potential we’d have a solid three stalwarts when coupled with Oliver, not the rotational grab bag we see now.

It was just another year to me. It’s funny how things have gone for Bills fans over the many years. In the Super Bowl era we couldn’t match up with the NFC East. In the Brady era we couldn’t get out of our Division because of NE’s absolute dominance. And now, we can’t get out of the AFC because of the same with the Chiefs. But….I’ll take the winning over the soul wrenching boredom of 7-9 any day of the week. Go Bills
