  1. Long before the Raiders moved to Vegas I had hoped the NFL would’ve had every team play a game there once a year. The entire thing would be one big party and an annual must-attend road trip for fans. The Super Bowl could’ve been played there every four or five years as well since it’d be a truly neutral site for everyone. Now with a seventeen game schedule it would’ve been even more ideal. Nobody would lose a home game. Unfortunately they went the route of having a team of their own.
  2. One of the advantages of being in a leadership position in a business like professional football is that it works to a REALLY strict annual calendar. So while during your first year I’m guessing everything is coming at you pretty fast, by the time you get a few seasons under your belt you get very accustomed to the rhythm of it all. (Not all that different from being a rookie QB where the game slows down.) So I’m pretty sure McD is now more than ready to take on the added responsibilities of DC. He probably couldn’t have done it a few years ago. My management journey was exactly the same even though my annual calendar wasn’t quite as stable.
  3. I’m always amazed when I travel on the weekend during football season. When/if you do you’ll see hundreds of people in airports all over the country wearing NFL gear. They’re all traveling to a road game somewhere. It’s really pretty cool!
  4. Very well said. It’s exactly how I ran my business. But…there are others whose core competency is actually ‘management’ and not ‘doing’ the actual work as I did, and you apparently still do. It was my philosophy that I could sit in my office contributing nothing more than oversight all day, or I could do that AND pull on the proverbial wagon. Many in management think the promotion is a ‘get out of work for free’ card. I never chose that path. I never felt that I was too expensive to actually help get things done. I had many business partners who sadly never learned that lesson.
  5. What a mess! The Rams are excruciating to watch. How many guys are on defense for the Bengals… TWENTY?
  6. “Furious” or curious? You never know with spell check on this board. When you’re winning 37-3 I’d recommend you go with the latter. You’ll live longer. 😂
  7. I use the Time and Date website to get a two week forecast. Right now it’s showing 71 and cloudy for the game….but remember it’s London so it changes pretty regularly.
  8. Well there ya go. Good thing we’re arriving on Thursday morning then! Fingers crossed.
  9. I do not believe the Express is part of The Tube system at all. They have their own ticketing and marketing system. It’s essentially a privately run train line….I think.
  10. We always take the HE to St Pancras because it’s then close to our hotel at Hyde Park. You can check online to see if they also have one that goes to Paddington but even if they don’t, just get on The Tube from St Pancras and head to your hotel. Not sure where you’re staying. I take it back. I just looked it up. Paddington is actually closer to our hotel than St Pancras but even at that it’s just a couple of quick Tube stops to get to Hyde Park area. Getting around in London is super easy!
  11. Depending on where you’re headed in London I highly recommend booking a ticket on the Express. It’s cheap and you can do it online. You can even book it with a round trip for your return heading out. It’ll get you into Central London in a matter of minutes with no stops direct from the airport. From St Pancrass Station you can then get just about anywhere on the Tube. Way, way faster and cheaper than every other alternative, and you hop on the train immediately inside Heathrow. Piece of cake!
  12. Funny, but I don’t recall Tyrod being on any Subway commercials back in his playoff days. 😳
  13. Not a bad gig really! Does he get to keep the uniform? (Does he get a uniform?)
  14. The next day I was at a little hole in the wall ticket office buying seats for the Super Bowl. I had to drive to an office in Anaheim somewhere to get my seats. This was before ticket websites, etc. I honestly don’t recall how I even found those folks but the tickets were legit and even though we got our butts kicked at the Rose Bowl it’s still up there as lifelong memory. I treated my Dad who had paid for season tickets for us growing up all those years in WNY.
  15. Good thing I got my Heathrow Express tickets from the airport into the City on Thursday the 4th.
  16. Bank of America now has what they call a ‘travel credit card’ just for this purpose. No annual fee but for some reason they encourage it over your normal VISA card. None of this stuff makes much sense but what the heck.
  17. Kind of blew up your other thread. Oh well…..this stuff happens to the best of armchair general managers.
  18. His “harvis” is on fire? That’s gonna leave a mark! 😉
  19. I’ve seen way worse hits than that and I don’t believe there was any intent to injure Adams. It’s hard for me to believe he’d comment on it at all. He’s played a lot of football. Things happen out there.
  20. So is this in lieu of the Regent Street closing they did last time?
  21. Hard for me to imagine a more high maintenance girlfriend. Travis, I’d turn back if I were you!
  22. It’s only Week Two but in a year where everyone is talking about the AFC’s quarterback riches what really stands out is the NFC has the top two, three of the top four, and six of the top ten.
