Field Logo & End Zone Change for Tomorrow?
SoCal Deek replied to Warriorspikes51's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yep….they typically roll up the turf, and lay new turf down, but they can also use paint. It’s not uncommon to see the shadow of the old logo showing through. -
The NEW Bills Stadium and the NEW Las Vegas

Keep in mind that back when the Bills began, the players bagged groceries in the offseason. I highly doubt that you’ll see either Josh or his starlet wife working the produce section at Wegmans this spring. -
Field Logo & End Zone Change for Tomorrow?

It’s isn’t difficult to change the artificial field graphics. They literally do it once a week at Met Life and So Fi stadiums where two teams share the field. -
The NEW Bills Stadium and the NEW Las Vegas
SoCal Deek replied to DeepPass's topic in The Stadium Wall
There’s nothing to see here. It’s the natural evolution of things. Sure, Major League sports have become more expensive as they’ve become more and more popular. This has been happening slowly over many decades. But “corporations”? I think not. It’s nothing more than a business model. Some car manufacturers target higher end customers. So do some restaurants, and clothing stores. But….there are plenty of options to attend entertainment events (sports, theater, etc) that are not super expensive. For example, I regularly attend college games of almost every sport that are actually FREE. It’s competitive and a ton of fun. -
Stadium Construction Discussion (No PSL/Seat selection posts)
SoCal Deek replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes, it’s all laid out originally by the architects and then detailed in the shop drawings created by the seating contractor. While the design is random, the installers are following a seat by seat ‘map’. Believe it or not, in the old days, prior to CAD we would have had a spotter with binoculars on the other side of the stadium bowl signally to the installers which color they want where. Crazy, right? -

Shadows will of course vary depending on the time of the day and month of the year, but they’ll definitely cover some of the field at times. Not as much in September as they will in late December when the sun is lower in the sky. -

Renderings? The video fly overs show the real thing. The roof is done. -

It varies. It’s more to do with how far out in advance they started. I always say to the Owner and Contractor “the one date I cannot change is today”….there’s always a finite number of days until Opening Day. -

Thanks for sharing. A few things to note: 1. You can see how fast the seats go in. Just a month ago they hadn’t even started installing them. 2. The progress on the exterior metal paneling is a concern. It’s a long way from done, and Winter is coming. On a related note there, you can see the top curved piece of the paneling is solid (not perforated). It closes the gap between the last row and the roof. That solid piece keeps the wind out of the interior. 3. I’ll be curious to see if the grass goes down this month. On my tour, the Contractor said they were targeting October. -
2025 Trade Ideas Prior to the Deadline
SoCal Deek replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall
To get us back on track, the Bills are about to get THREE defensive players in their starting rotational roster. These are guys who aren’t playing at all right now. Which means we therefore have THREE defensive players who are currently playing major snaps for one of only two undefeated teams in the entire league. There aren’t any other teams that need a defensive starter? Seems to me that’s the place to look for Trade Deadline moves. -

That’s somewhat correct. Substantial Completion is defined as the point where the Owner “can occupy the project for its intended use”. Punch List pick up is a bit later down the road. For Substantial Completion there may be items that have yet to be installed. For work to be defined as a Punch List item it’s supposed to have been installed but needs to replaced, refinished, or repaired. I hope that helps. -

It’s not at all uncommon for Trade Subcontractors to hold this opinion around this time in a project partly because there are more Subs on site now than ever before. With ‘finish’ work starting on the interior spaces there’s work going on seemingly everywhere around the site. Add to that the push to get certain critical tasks completed prior to winter and I’m sure it can seem overwhelming to the Trades….but I’m also sure the General Contractor has a plan and a schedule they’re working with. -

So we’re going to deplete the offensive side of the roster by three positions? Sounds like a plan McD can get behind. 😉 -

Whether they’re starters or rotational pieces, the League isn’t going to allow us to expand our roster up to 56. -
2025 Trade Ideas Prior to the Deadline

Without making a single move the Bills are slated to get two defensive starters at or around the Trade Deadline (maybe three if you count Mad Max). So we need to trade a running back for a late round pick? -
Not sure if you can still get a copy of that Big Red book, but I’m betting you’d cherish it. It’s the most detailed history of the Bills that I’ve ever seen. I wish they’d publish a new edition that picks up where the first one left off.
-
Hey Shaw…congrats on the book! I’m curious if you have the big red hard cover book that covered the first 35 years (I think) of Bills history? It included a statistical game by game summary of every game in Bills history up to that time. Your story reminded me that for Christmas one year I gave my dad that book, and inside it, I pinned personal notes and stories/memories of each of the important games we attended together since I was a little kid. My Dad is now 92 and having suffered a significant stroke this year is unfortunately a mental shell of the man he once was. But….he still has that big red book of memories on the shelf in his room. Go Bills!

Nah…the Illini didn’t play a game two weeks ago. 🙄

THE ROCKPILE REVIEW – At the One-Quarter Mark
SoCal Deek replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall
Your post got me to thinking because I know exactly how you feel…..so I looked it up. The Bills have played 16 quarters of football this season. They’ve scored points in 15 of the 16. (The lone exception was the second quarter on Sunday.) I’d say 15 of 16 is pretty darn amazing. -
Cornell has ‘huge football fans’? Who knew? 😉
-
If he doesn’t know we’re playing the Patriots at HOME this Sunday, how much stock can I put in his weekly picks? 😳
-
All of that may be true, but it doesn’t stop me from getting an ulcer watching them….BY DESIGN! 😉
