  1. Are the A’s building an opera house? Who knew? 🤷🏼‍♂️
  2. It’s not true that anyone can do it. It takes a unique skill set of someone who’s reasonably skilled with people, and extremely skilled with money and budgeting.
  3. The job itself isn’t all that difficult. The challenge is that your performance will be judged based on a bunch of variables that really aren’t under your direct control.
  4. That's an interesting comment. For over a decade people would critique the Patriots strategy of moving down and stockpiling picks. They had their Franchise QB in place. But I have to admit that I never followed it close enough to know if Billy B stuck with those picks on Draft Day, or used them as trade bait to move up. Does anyone know?
  5. These are the folks who would scream if the trade was reversed and we gave up a 5th round pick for somebody else’s backup center. 😂
  6. Correct….and….Liking what you do also involves liking where you choose to do it.
  7. And you would make what move instead? There’s a great thread that shows the overall roster laid out with the players all listed in groups (starters, reserves, under contract, etc). Go take a look at that one. As both you and I have said, Beane has tied his own hands. There will be two overarching themes to Off Season 2024: (1) a lot of turnover of non-starters and (2) some creative wizardry of contract negotiations with the starters that remain.
  8. That’s true but he doesn’t count against the Cap. So far I see very little drama or controversy here. It’s inevitable!
  9. Sounds to me like many of you need to find a new line of work. 😉 As I always say: “find something you like to do and you’ll never work a day in your life”.
  10. If I understand our Cap position he really has no choice. He pretty much has to unload any and all redundancy (depth) that he’s got. And if he can get a draft pick in return, then that’s better than just releasing guys for nothing.
  11. So looking at your updated list, what’s the next move? Seems like Beane is in the trimming the roster redundancy mode. But if I’m reading everyone’s posts on the Cap correctly there’s got to be more serious cuts than Hines and Bates.
  12. Okay? In over three decades as a business owner I never once told an employee that they couldn’t use a single day of accrued vacation, sick, or emergency time. Not once.
  13. Thanks Gunner So based on your reshuffling and so much other chatter, are the Bills taking a WR in the 1st? Seems like you believe that the value is suspect, and the smarter move is to take a DL and then slide back up in the 2nd for a WR.
  14. I’m visual learner as well. I can’t see the point in the countless round and round without a contextual list to base the discussion around. I’m guessing that Beane is more in our camp. He can’t possibly be making these decisions on a case by case basis.
  15. I asked this in the Hines thread but I like the organization of your list way better. Do you believe we’re going to see the rest of Group 4 join Hines fate later this week? Hamlin, White, Neal, Gilliam, and Harty? For example, I read that Hamlin is already at close to league minimum.
  16. You guys spend way more time on this cap stuff than I do so I’m interested in what anyone guesses the next two or three moves will be. Put another way, if Mc Govern and Hines were the lowest hanging fruit; whose on the next branch up? Who else gets whacked (not just restructured)?
  17. As other have hinted at there’s simply no way we can afford BOTH Zach Ertz and Mike Evans. So what’s the point?
  18. And don’t forget he still has to complete the Zach Ertz deal. There’s only so much time in the day!
  19. Thanks for putting this together. I know it gets really hard to put players into hard and fast groups but I think the duo of Morse/Bates should be listed in Group 1. One or the other, or both, will be on the roster.
  20. Every time I hear of a high ceiling low floor DE with little experience from Penn State it gives me Aaron Maybin flashbacks. And that ain’t a good thing. 😉
  21. People can criticize Beane but at least there’s some logic to do what he did. After making it to the AFC Championship game the organization thought they were on the fast track to the Super Bowl. So with a young, franchise QB, he went “all in” and thus somewhat gambled away a few future years. So far, it’s been a gamble that he lost.
  22. I’m assuming this poll isn’t saying that losing the Super Bowl would mark the best the Bills would ever do under McD so I voted that ‘yes’ as it would at least show he’d finally gotten them out of playoff neutral gear. Make it to the Super Bowl and then keep progressing from there.
