  1. I’ve been to two super bowls….and live in a city that just hosted the last one. There was almost nothing going on in Los Angeles last year during the bye week. Sure, the NFL experience was happening (not even at the stadium site) but that was just advertised locally to SoCal residents. They were practically begging people to go. I cannot believe that more than a few dozen people plan on spending over a week in Phoenix. Local residents who still want to visit the NFL Experience would still be able to do so.
  2. Yes, but who’s holding the controller for the Bills?
  3. Call me crazy…but I’m rooting for the scenario that allows my Buffalo Bills to play their way into the #1 seed and an assured WNY path to the Super Bowl! After fanatically rooting for this team for SIXTY years, the last thing I want is some asterisk after their championship.
  4. Now we’re going in circles. The initial comment was whether the teams needed the week off. They do not. Now as to whether some Japanese beer distributor had planned a party two weeks before the game (which nobody will attend)…I honestly don’t care. It seems like a silly thing to prioritize right now.
  5. The week leading up to the Super Bowl isn’t a big deal for anyone other than for a few off-brand sponsors hosting a party somewhere. Very few. Do the teams need the time? No they don’t. Not so sure? Georgia and TCU are about to play for a championship this week and neither team, nor their fans, nor any sponsors, got a bye.
  6. This incident had nothing to do with the inherent violence of the sport. In the Olympics a couple of years ago Christian Erickson collapsed on the soccer field from a heart attack. He was standing all by himself. In front of an huge international television audience they administered all the same treatment on him and suspended the match. Nobody retired. Erickson is actually playing again.
  7. I’m not trying to be ‘that guy’, but what logistics? Nobody pre-plans for a playoff game. Nobody knows if they’re hosting and when, or where. The only pre-planning is for the Super Bowl, and that date/venue would not change. I cannot believe anyone gives a rats behind if the Pro Bowl nonsense is cancelled. Not even the players. Half of them opt out already…and this year it’s been reduced to a skills competition. You think the two Super Bowl teams are going to complain about getting to play in the Super Bowl..hardly? You think the other First Round teams are going to complain about getting a week of rest…hardly?
  8. First, the Chiefs are not losing to the Raiders. But even if they did, then the Bills and Bengals could still choose to forfeit Week 19. What’s the problem?
  9. Correct…which is exactly how it was for the Bills and the Giants…and nobody cared. It was one of the NFLs iconic games.
  10. Without playing the game BOTH teams are going to have to play in the wildcard round. There’s zero chance the league is gifting the Bills the #1 seed.
  11. Not sure what the problem is here. This is what actual congressional negotiations look like. Has it been so long since we’ve seen them that nobody recognizes them anymore? Just two weeks ago you’all had your hair on fire because these same people were voting in lockstep for a multi-TRILLION dollar spending bill that none of them had read. Now we’re upset because they’re taking their time on an issue that’ll set the course for a two year agenda? Come on people!
  12. Oh brother….okay “it’s my personal opinion that the game should be played”. Better?
  13. Okay…I’ll bite. Why would anyone retire (essentially quit their job) because of Hamlin? Has a Doctor said what happened to him?
  14. It’s been said in another thread: If you resume the game as a stand alone Week 19 matchup, nobody is penalized. And we all avoid sitting through the stupid Pro Bowl week.
  15. So you think the Bills would turn down the opportunity to earn a first round bye because they could be playing a team that got one? I don’t think so! And all the other teams would out number and out vote these two. I still think Week 19 makes the most sense. The game has to be played.
  16. This makes way too much sense! Nobody has made travel plans for the playoffs because you don’t know who’s hosting yet, where or when. And the Bills Bengals game would have pretty much the same importance that it did last week with both teams still vying for playoff seeds. And a bonus byproduct would be the elimination of the ridiculous Pro Bowl during the bye week.
  17. And this would eliminate the off week before the Super Bowl?
  18. Just throwing it out there but I’ve read so many say how the Bills should rest their starters next week …but what does this say about the non-starters? Are they somehow less impacted, or more apt to play with the fire everyone knows is required to truly compete in the NFL? I understand the strategic implications but it’s a tough call for everyone involved.
  19. Fair? Neither is what happened last night. The league isn’t going to just give someone a win. Not happening
  20. I’m guessing the league will treat the game as a tie. Done.
  21. Thanks. What a mess! You can imagine what the fans in those Cities are thinking.
  22. What a mess. So many teams impacted.
  23. I hadn’t thought of that. The Bills could actually forfeit both of the last two games and still have the 3 seed. I’m not saying that’s what they should do but it’s an interesting position to be in. What does that do to the Patriots? Does it give them an automatic berth?
