Are McD and Frazier still running the defense? If so…save yourself the headache.

It used to be said that Shula could simply switch sidelines and beat you with your own players. I’m beginning to think the same, but opposite, of McD. If you swapped the Chiefs and Bengals staff with ours, they’d beat their own teams with OUR roster. That should tell you everything you need to know. -
5 years and one glaring weakness remains the same…..

The purpose of the offense is to score points. They did that. The purpose of the defense is to stop the opponents from scoring points. They did that too! The Bills finished with close to the best record and close to the best point differential. Done, and done! They lost on Sunday because the coaching staff didn’t properly prepare their players to play a football game…period! -

This is McDs first real test as a Head Coach. If he doesn’t show Frazier the door, then he too needs to go. -

You beat me to this topic. When the dust settles and you look back at the season you realize that the Bills went absolutely NOWHERE this year. Their strengths remained exactly the same, as did their weaknesses. While other teams retooled and reworked themselves (KC receivers and Bengals OL), the Bills thought they could stand pat and everything would simply work out in the end. The result was that everything remained almost exactly the same, including the earlier than desired playoff exit. -
The offense was far from doomed. It performed very well throughout the year and would’ve been even better had Josh just stopped turning the ball over deep in the red zone (not intended as Josh bashing). But…we ALL knew that it would live or die in improvement at the offensive line; especially in the running game. That clearly didn’t happen. Not sure what the new OL Coach was doing all season long, but whatever it was, it was an utter disaster.

I was wrong about home field advantage…
SoCal Deek replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall
Home field isn’t going to make up for a team that clearly didn’t care anymore. -
I still want to know how Redtail is feeling. He/she said they canceled last week’s ski vacation because of Covid. What were the symptoms? How are they feeling now? What, if any, medications did they take?

Bills will not make it to the playoffs in 2023?

Wild card, one and done. -

I’d add a slight different take. This defense is based on analytics. The theory is that the other team’s QB is going to screw up before they can get it in the end zone. It works during the regular season when the level of QB play is very hit and miss, but it’s not going to work against top tier playoff teams. -
Saffold said guys were "exhausted" this week and "out of gas"
SoCal Deek replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Very well said. I’m guessing Coach McD is okay with the latter take away. -

Ugh! If you read my comment, I’m specifically referring to a style of LEADERSHIP. It’s called an analogy. -

I didn’t say they were. I said their leadership let them take their eye off the goal, and we all saw the results. It is what it is. -

This is going to sound really harsh but you do the same thing on a battlefield. You tell the remaining soldiers to keep moving, and do NOT look back at your fallen comrades. You move on together and take the next hill. Way, way, way too much wallowing went on…if you want to win a Super Bowl. They made their choice. -

I couldn’t agree more and it’s on the head coach to get everyone through it. At that, he failed miserably. He alone chose where this team’s focus would be, and it definitely wasn’t on football. The result was so obvious yesterday. -
Unfortunately you’re correct.

Bills players were done with this year
SoCal Deek replied to Billzgobowlin's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’ll say it again. From the very start, the Bills players and coaches all looked exhausted yesterday. And while the game was still well within reach deep into the second half, nobody thought there was a chance of a comeback. -
2023 Offseason Primer: State of the Franchise

Excellent write up. Unfortunately I cannot see McD changing anything of real consequence. My experience is that most adults simply don’t, no matter what the circumstances tell or show them. In short….we are now, stuck. -

So you’re saying I should look for you in London next October? I’ll be there! I’m going to keep doing what I’ve been doing for sixty plus years, but with an ever decreasing set of expectations. (I absolutely saw that coming yesterday.) -
I think you’re misreading the point of this thread. Read my post above. There was something clearly odd about how the Bills played on that turf yesterday.
