    Took them long enough.

I don't know what they thought was gonna happen to make it playable in LA, just due to air quality and leaving aside that the high winds make it unpredictable how and where fires will spread

    Stay safe!

We experience wild fires every year in Southern California. What’s unusual about this event is the location and number. Our fires are typically in less populated areas of the mountains that rim the entirety of the LA metro area.

  2. One of the biggest problems with the Rams game is that many of the players and staff live in the area impacted by the fire. As do I. We haven’t had power for two days and it’s sounding very much like we won’t until sometime on Saturday.

Miraculously as we head out there to see my 90 year old Dad my cousins house is still standing... but they cant get near it right now.

What part of SoCal is your Dad at?

Nope. But my wife has been in tears watching the news and the suffering of so many people. I’m sure the LA officials have more to deal with than worrying about whether a game gets played there.

With all due respect, it’s a tough situation for sure. Again, I personally LOST MY HOUSE!!!  But the current fire is nowhere near SoFi Stadium

I've lived in LA 66 years and I've never seen sustained winds 60-80 mph like this for 2 days. I'm evacuated and hoping the Eaton fire calms down.  Going to be a rough night.

Lived at the foot of the Cajon Pass for decades…..tell me about it. Winds are brutal. Be safe!

Yes, and that can all change in the blink of an eye, as I’m sure you have experienced. I’m surprised you are so dismissive of the situation relative to the game considering your experience.

Dismissive? No….i live here. Do you?

    Sorry to hear that.

I imagine the availability of emergency response crews also plays into the decision whether to move the game. Watching the news feed of the fires and devastation is heartbreaking.

Thanks….you learn you can get through just about anything.

As far as the current fire goes you’d be surprised how you can be just a few miles from the fire and have almost no idea that anything is happening at all. It’s perfectly calm and sunny at my house this afternoon. If I look out just the right window I can see the smoke plume over the hillside.

I guess the real question should be, would a bunch of heavy game day traffic create problems for crews trying to deal with that nightmare?

Absolutely not. The freeways were all open this morning for the regular commute. Neither fire is near a major freeway

I’m sure the NFL and local authorities will take your input into consideration.

They should. I lost a house to a wildfire some years ago.

Is the stadium downwind or are they clean there?

The stadium is more or less crosswind from the smoke plume, which blowing out towards the ocean. These events are much more localized than a hurricane or blizzard.

The dome vs open air debate is irrelevant at this point, I’ve just been waiting for a rendering or press release about the stadium that will impress me. It has yet to happen. The recent concourse renderings look nice new and shiny, but nothing looks particularly modern, or on par with other new stadiums. It might impress me in person, we’ll have to see.

I have to agree. The entire facility will be a huge upgrade over Rich Stadium but it’s no palace. (Although I don’t think it’s intended to be)

That analogy doesn't work because Evans was drafted before the Bills’ original pick. The whole premise of this thread is based on an incorrect memory of the original draft order.

So you’re saying it was the nazis who attacked Pearl Harbor? 😉
