The one federal prosecutor that I heard interviewed said that they already looked at the issue and that while questionable on face value, the payment is NOT in violation of what the statute is written to prevent. I’m going to trust that he knows the federal statute better than you or I do.

We’ll disagree there. I’m not as sold on the current roster and am really not sold on the longer term future. It’s a new era in Buffalo with a franchise QB to maintain. We’re going to see a lot of roster turnover in the years to come as players come in and out for a season or two…much like the Patriots had in the Brady years, and as we’re currently seeing with the Chiefs. With all that said, I’m praying for a very productive draft. The team’s going to need at least three, maybe four, solid picks to stabilize the free agency turnstile for awhile.

For everyone’s information there are fewer and fewer actual books in the typical school library these days. They are very expensive to purchase, store and maintain. The key skill of a school librarian is actually in teaching students how to navigate through the limitless sources found on the internet….not how to use the Dewey Decimal System.

I’m guessing it’ll be from teams behind us who have an extra pick to burn but with the Bills having so many roster spots in need of improvement I’m dying to see who this hypothetical trade partner selects. And praying we don’t regret it!

I had to look it up but with Singletary now gone it turns out CJ Spiller ended up one spot higher than Devin in all time Bills rushing yards. They sit at #9 and 10. Their stats were very close. I wouldn’t have guessed that to be the case.

I see this opinion posted all the time…and it makes sense for the Bills, but if there isn’t a fit for Buffalo at 27 why do people think there’s a fit for another hypothetical team. Who’ll be there that some other team needs so desperately to cause them to trade with us?

I’m nowhere near as sure. It’s possible that Beane is looking at the long term plan now, and realizes he’s got way too many 2023 holes to fill with way too little cash to fill them with. I guess we’re gonna find out.

I apologize for the late response but I guess you missed my sarcastic point. I’m hoping the real Bills show up to play in every game next year (which was definitely not the case in the playoffs against Cincinnati), including those games played after dark. 😉

I’m certainly no expert on campaign funding laws but I’ve seen being said there are more than a few ‘problems’ with the currently contemplated charges, including the statute of limitations, the standing of local Justice office in a federal election case, the reliance on a convicted liar as the witness, and the elevation of this ‘crime’ from a misdemeanor to a felony. But you’re correct if the DA believes a crime was committed the DA can certainly bring charges.

It is not whether the payment is legal. It’s about whether it’s been recorded legally per the business code. It’s similar to whether you’re allowed to write something off on your taxes.

Wrong. That is not the basis of the indictment. The case is essentially about bookkeeping. The issue is whether it’s illegal to use campaign funds for this sort of payment. It is NOT illegal for two people to willingly enter into a contract exchanging money for a ‘gag order’. (you gotta love the use of gag order 😉)

The goal is not to play rookies. The goal is to win football games. This statistical chart while interesting really is nothing more than a bunch of statistics.

It’s definitely complicated, because unlike in other sports, in football the various positions are completely different. There are both offense and defense, etc. So my point was if you desperately want/need a new starting MLB, not taking him at 27 because you think he slots closer to 39 is a bit silly. (My two cents.)

The reason you see teams move up a dozen picks is NOT because they think a player is super good. It’s because they believe that a team before them is going to select him. I have no problem with that…although I’m not always convinced that they actually know what other team is taking who.

I’ve never understood trying to slot a guy into exactly his draft value. We all just saw a thread showing how much if crap shoot these picks really are. Does this mean you take a fourth round guy in the first…no. But taking a guy a dozen or so players early doesn’t seem like much of a gamble or waste to me. You only get one pick every 32 players.
