I’m not saying they aren’t considering it. The point is that if you don’t build that load into the original calculations, you can pretty much kiss it goodbye down the road. Buildings aren’t typically designed with that much extra structure in them.

As usual, the discussion has gone off the rails. The real point is NOT whether the virus was created in a lab in order to intentionally start a worldwide pandemic. The question is why was the establishment so quick to shut down anyone who thought it came from the lab at all….intentionally or not? This entire pandemic response will go down as the worst public health disaster/perpetration in history. That is of course if we learn nothing from this entire farce!

Is it too much to ask for us to switch to a defense that actually hits people and tackles? I think not.

Morning Everyone…it’s still early out here on the west coast so forgive me if I’m just catching up. The answer to the question is that it will be virtually impossible to extend the roof if it wasn’t first built into the calculations at the time of the initial construction. The cantilever forces transferred down into the foundations would be massive, especially with WNY snow loads.

I’m confident that he also gave his personal stamp of approval to the design of the local library, post office, elementary school, community center, sewer line, and road repaving project…after all…democracy…or something like that. Einstein, please know that I’m just having fun here. 😉

So someone mentioned this earlier…what do you believe the ‘majority would’ve wanted’? And…Did that manifest itself in the results of the survey the Bills took? I remember many wanting an open air venue. Please know that I don’t have a dog in this fight, but it seems to me that some on here are personally disappointed because what they ‘wanted’ isn’t happening. Unfortunately that’s going to happen with these sorts of projects. You can’t please everyone. I just wish people would let it play itself out. The architectural firm is very talented. Let them do their jobs.

So here’s the thing. I’ve designed literally hundreds of publicly funded projects and not once did we ask every single person if they liked how it looked. Now, you’re more than welcome to express your opinion…seriously. But neither the Bills, nor the State/County are under any obligation to seek your approval on the aesthetics of the project. Sorry.

Please give me the extensive list of publicly funded projects you’ve designed.

What you’re seeing is the underside of the actual roof structure: painted steel beams and metal roof deck. It costs a lot of money to install a ceiling under that structure, but I tend to agree with your initial assessment. I actually thought they’d go with a translucent material as you see in the inner ring of the Tottenham roof….but oh well.

You know it’s funny; it’s all of the many heartbreaking losses that have ultimately cemented me as a Bills fan. Whenever I’m watching ANY sporting event my wife will ask me “Who are you rooting for?”. My response is always the same: “The underdog, of course!” GO BILLS

You’ve got to be kidding….right? Who do you think pays for the movie theater? Santa Claus? Here’s a hint…you do! It’s built into the price of your ticket. The same is true of that power tool you bought at Home Depot. Not sure why you think the Bills need to please your specific needs. They conducted a community survey a couple of years ago to get GENERAL input. You’re not ordering a pizza here. But, with all of that said, if you prefer to sit under a cover, the new stadium will give you literally thousands of seats to choose from. How many seats are you planning on sitting in?

Say what??? When you go to a movie or a restaurant did you have much say in what the building looked like? And yet, as a customer you pay the ENTIRE cost of the film or dinner.

No argument from me there. In general, European (especially in England) soccer stadiums ALWAYS cover ALL of the seats. I'm not sure if they ever considered that as a goal in Orchard Park.

Don't be so quick to jump on that bandwagon. Tottenham opened an entire year late. They had a fire alarm problem that caused the Tottenham Hotspurs to remain at across-town Wembley Stadium for an entire season longer than they had planned! In a word.....YIKES!

People seem quick to compare the new stadium to Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Indianapolis, and Dallas but you have to remember other recent stadiums like Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Meadowlands, New England and Cincinnati. All of those on the latter list are rather simple outdoor venues. The Bills never said they were trying to outpace all the other franchises. This seems to me like a happy medium between the showpiece stadiums we all know, and the more pedestrian, yet modern, stadiums that I listed above.

I’m guessing that our players simply can’t see the big yellow line. 😂

No worries. I take no offense, nor offer my opinion to boast. I’m just hoping to break through the internet chatter.

I recently retired as Managing Partner of one of the firms listed on the Top 100 design firms in the nation.

Not to get too technical, but yes, just about EVERYTHING you see in these renderings are what the actual stadium will look like. In the architectural profession we no longer do drawings. We build a a three dimensional model of the entire facility, right down to the nuts and bolts. Then we simply import that model into rendering software and spits out these images.

Let me try this again for those who haven't been paying attention. The 'renderings' we're seeing are not created by a dude with a paint brush! They are computer generated from the 3D Model of the actual stadium design. The only thing that's inserted with a bit of artist's license is the team on the field, the people in the stands, and the images on the scoreboard. The surrounding neighborhood is also not painted on. With today's technology, we can actually insert the architectural model directly into Google Earth and place the project in its actual context. In short...if they are indeed going to break ground in just a few weeks....THIS IS THE ACTUAL STADIUM DESIGN. Got it?
