And as I said, the Owner can either be quick or slow to pay each month. And the Owner can either meddle in the day to day construction activity or they can leave the Builder alone. It’s no different from having your kitchen remodeled. The Owner’s participation is critical to keeping things on schedule.

As I explained in an earlier response, most public works construction projects have what’s called a ‘liquidated damages’ clause meaning that the contractors pay a stipulated financial penalty for every day the project goes beyond the contract term. That penalty, along with prompt monthly payments from the Owner, and limited Owner directed changes, are what drive the construction team to stay on schedule.

I trust you know this is all in good fun. In life you have to pick things to get upset about. The Bills playing a game overseas twice a decade is way, way, way down on my list. And I’ll easily trade it for adding back that fourth preseason game we suffered through every year.

We may be of the same era. I was there when MNF first came to town for the Bills vs KC. It was a rainy pregame, but all of WNY felt they had finally made the big time! (BTW....we all wore our rain gear, sat outside, and nobody complained. It was a glorious night!)

The Bills wandered in the NFL desert for almost twenty years. Oh how the faithful have forgotten. Nobody cared and nobody around the country wanted to watch them…except maybe for a good chuckle. Thanks. You’re correct. Notice that I didn’t say it was a ‘rivalry’. My point was that those were the games you really wanted to see, even if you knew we were big underdogs. I can’t recall an era where anyone felt that way about the Jets. Unfortunately the Rodgers era is going to be short lived.

My wife was dragging that day, but when we turned the corner and I showed her the Eiffel Tower I thought she was going to cry.

Gregg…I’ve been a watching the Bills since just after their inception. The certainly have had must-see opponents throughout the decades. The Dolphins in the 70’s and the Pats in their heyday. The last time anyone could say that about the Jets might have been when Namath was there….but even that was pretty short lived.

Can you try and stick somewhat close to responding to my post? Even just somewhat would be appreciated.

I actually like it. For decades now the Jets have been our most boring opponent. I literally never circle those two games on my must-watch calendar. So as the Opener, and on Monday Night, against Rodgers….why not?

A well reasoned breakdown for sure but I don’t believe it’s going to reach the ‘critical mass’ you suggest. Those in power and their lapdogs in the media simply won’t allow it. As I’ve mentioned, if you’ve never been to Europe, I highly recommend just hopping on the train and go to Paris for a couple of days. You definitely won’t regret it. Then take the Eurostar back to London and leave back out of Heathrow. The round trip air fair is easier.

So I guess Edmunds was more important than I thought. Go figure!

I think some fans think these players are old. They’re mostly young kids in their early twenties. Believe me, these guys are excited about getting to go somewhere that most have never been. We did all kinds of crazy stuff at that age. For most of these guys it’s like a field trip at school and they get to bring their families, breaking up the day to day routine of a LONG season. And London isn’t some third world hell hole. It’s a super fun place to visit.

Just adjust minimum wage each year with standard inflation…basically 3%. Problem solved!
