Who is the healthy scratch for Sunday?
Locomark replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am 100% on dressing McKenzie. Jet sweep package is important in calming the heavy pass pressure and pursuit the Browns have. Doubt Sweeney dresses again this year without injury. -
Great players ?? We have good players. Other than Tre we don’t have anyone on this team that is “great.” Brown is good. Hughes used to be good. Milano is good. Morse is very good. Hyde is very good. Teams around the league aren’t calling out our greatness in talent!! We just had so little talent in the past that now that we have good competent players we think they are great. We have a roster of depth of good talent. Greatness wins championships. Look at the core of the 90s teams. 6-7 great players at the core all going to pro bowls. We don’t have that yet. Maybe next year we will be closer.

Star’s whipping boy problem has to do with his paycheck. Space eaters still need to make the occasional splash play in the backfield, push the pile back, get the ugly turnover. Think old players of Adams or Washington eating space BUT making plays too. That is what we want for a highly compensated guy. Otherwise let’s just get some sumo guy if the expectation is to hold 2 guys up and never make any plays.

Amazing how the National Press Ignores the Bills

This one is easy. Beat the Boys in Dallas and / or Lamar here and walla....we get attention!!!! -
Daboll is an excellent play caller
Locomark replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is a combo of play calling and talent but let’s be perfectly clear that he has some flawed designs. When he calls plays with one read and then the 2nd read is to throw it into the ground, that’s a bad play design. When you call QB draws into the teeth of LBs with a kid that doesn’t slide, that’s a bad play design. This guy is too cute. Play calling is an art form. Not very play works, but every play needs enough variability so it can work if different defenses present themselves. Josh is a smart kid so I don’t think it his lack of audibles. It the design on some of the calls that is flawed or that Daboll hasn’t provided an out in the form of an audible. For a positive instance, the jet sweep package looks great. It plays into our strengths of pulling lineman, misdirection, and a super quick McKenzie. Now the next wrinkle should be throwing out of it. -
We passed on Gordon. How 'bout Dez?
Locomark replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He only played against their coverages and Gilmore and those safeties every day. The guy would be valuable as a FA to help solve Belicheat. Duke Williams has 2 catches for 29 yards after that Nashville game. Why is anyone talking like he is our future? Foster had 500 yards last year and can’t sniff a catch this year so Duke is worth a bag of Tim Horton’s. -
This game plan won’t work against team with an offensive pulse. You can’t run the ball constantly against passing teams like KC, Pats, or Baltimore and expect to stay in the games. Our defense is good but usually won’t hold those teams under 20-24. The reason the run worked was because of Singletary and McKenzie being in the lineup a lot. Gore doesn’t produce any outside run or cut back fear so teams just stay on their gaps and let him get his 3-4 yard gains. Gore had at least half a dozen runs this year for 15 yards that Singletary would have broken for at least 30 and probably would have scored on a few. Those chunk plays change the game. With Gore they don’t exist. I like Frank but he isn’t even converting goal line and short yardage which I figured would be his specialty. He is part of the problem with the run game.

Then we were stupid since he knows the entire New England Playbook. -

Locomark replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We didn’t pass on Gordon, the waivers were by standings and Seattle grabbed him before we could have picked him up. We will find out next year when he becomes a FA if we want him then. Dez would already be playing if he had anything left. -
Simple poll. Is Josh Allen improving as a passer?
Locomark replied to Ramza86's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes he is improving and yes he should continue to improve. His Wyoming background may mean it may be year 4 before we see his full potential, which I think is a top 10 QB. -
Pay Dirt - This week's fan column in Buff News
Locomark replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Singletary making himself small by running sideways to get that extra yard is what 34 used to do a lot on short yardage. He could learn from the Thurm. -
I Think Milano is the Problem with our Run D
Locomark replied to JoshAllenHasBigHands's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
First one looked squarely to be Milano and 2nd one looked like 98 taking a very hard angle to the other side of the line leaving a giant gap. The other thing is McD plays some cover 4. Cover 4 is know for being good against the pass and against outside runs but requires good gap integrity or you get burned between the tackles. Teams are just attacking his scheme the way they are taught to attack it. I expect to see more Shaq, because he isn't a speed rusher anyway, and less wide base DEs so teams don't have such giant lanes going forward. We aren't getting the outside edge rush anyway so why take such wide stances? -
Bills Record under McD when opponent scores 20 points
Locomark replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This type of stat is junky for many reasons. Last year we knowingly started the worst OL in the history of our franchise. Half of McD's tenure as coach has been started by guys not even starting in this league anymore, Those QBs weren't his choice. I am not defending his conservative strategy, but simply lumping the last 3 years together as a trend of his doing is just not logical. At the end of next year we should be asking what output the offense has had since Allen has been QB under McD. That would be meaningful and should be progressing based on talent and experience of Allen. -
The London Chargers? In the AFC East? It could happen
Locomark replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Doesn't everybody realize this is the NFL's annual rumor to keep the London interest ? The last few years it was the Jags owner wanting to move them there. This is all about throwing them an annual bone to keep the interest up. In a few years we will be the rumor because we don't yet have a stadium deal! -

You lost me at legalize ranch... What is the Seahawks home record??? -
This is a tailor made game for the Bills philosophy. The Browns beat themselves. Play mistake free. Let them commit the turnovers, penalties, and bad coaching moves. I just hope we don’t do dumb coaching things ourselves let always run on third and 2, run one wide receiver patterns so Josh has to eat it, pass up on field goals, etc.
-
I am not a Josh apologizer by any stretch but that deep “miss” last week was because Foster stopped running for some odd reason. If that was John Brown or even McKenzie that was 7 points. The issue is Brown gets too much attention because Duke, Foster, Beas don’t demand any downfield fear. Time to get Andre and McKenzie into those deep patterns.
-
She has recommended Brown a bunch of weeks so that’s not a jinx. The guy had been pretty consistent unlike the rest of our O.

My ratings were based on draft position and where they look compared to that position after 8 games. I truly wasn’t projecting their full career out! The rating system is arbitrary, just like a scout’s would be. I am siding with you on that though. Pessimistic but hoping it’s too early to tell. Great point that great players usually show it as rookies. That seems to ring true when you look around the league. WR may seem to be the only positional exceptional where it’s often year 2 or 3.
-
The Browns crappy OLine is what makes them less solid. They have splashy skill guys and some good defensive rush players but their OLine is just bad. Time to exploit Baker’s turnovers.

McKenzie needs to be active at least this year
Locomark replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
McK ‘s absence in the Philly game was noticeable. He adds a fun dimension to our offense and needs to dress for every game. Foster has been crappy this year. That bomb in the skins game was a TD that he stopped running toward the ball on. I don’t know if that kid just lost his confidence but he looks very out of sync this year. -

It would fun to go to London every other year for a roadie though.
