Continuing yards after catch (YAC) mystery
billvernsays replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’ve heard this used as a valid reason before but couldn’t we use this to our advantage? Example: run a fake QB counter to the right which should pull the Spy in that direction as we set up and throw a screen to the other side? -
Continuing yards after catch (YAC) mystery

As well as screens as previously mentioned, I don’t know why we dont try to get a screen game going with Hines and Cook. It would be an added element teams would have to be concerned about. If it’s the QB spy that causes the issues in our screen game we need to doctor the play up a bit but it would lead to even greater yards. Please Dorsey add it to our game. I’d love for us to be able to get the 60-90 easy screen yards Mahomes gets every week. -
If we get Hyde for the playoffs or at least Chiefs/Bengals game I don’t care where we play those teams, we’re winning.

This is the week we bring out the new and improved screen game (wouldn’t take much)

Can this be a Josh Allen issue? Maybe he's not patient enough?

Can we figure out how to use an effective screen game? For years we haven't been able to run an effective screen while KC and Mahomes can count on 100-150 yards a week from theirs. I've heard from some folks that cover this team (cover 1) that this is due to the way defenses play us, (QB spy) on most plays which make it difficult to run a screen because the man who was responsible for Allen can read the play, quickly diagnose and blow up the screen. If that is the case couldn't we add a wrinkle such as a fake QB power to the right or left and set up the screen to the other side. If we executed this properly it would cause the spy to flow with to the side we are faking to as we run a screen to the other side (spy problem solved) . Also with Allen's incredibly strong arm, why don't we roll the pocket more and pair it with a flood concept to the side we're rolling to? I understand that doing this cuts the field down a bit but if we are dealing with a cover 2 or cover 3 zone wouldn't that in very simple terms put more guys in a specific area of the field then they have to defend while also helping out our sub par O-line? , Allen could fit the ball in those tight windows no problem as he's very comfortable and effective throwing on the run. Just my two cents

Isn't this a message board? Aren't we all fans (short for fanatics) of the Buffalo Bills ? If we can't have hot takes here where can we?

I sense sarcasm here.👆 The fact that injury concerns were the reason why he (Booth) dropped and the fact that we need the help this year allows me to be able to say accurately say this was the right call for our team.

I wanted Lloyd, D Wyatt (before I realized how freaking good our DTs were), or Booth Cheers to McBeane

That's awesome, is it on YouTube? Where did you see the breakdown?

"NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that Vikings CB Andrew Booth (knee) will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery. Booth's rookie season was one to forget, as he dealt with multiple injuries and played behind lower-drafted rookie corner Akaylab Evans. Booth had a 41.7 PFF coverage grade in 61 coverage snaps against the Bills and Cowboys. Those aren't exactly easy offenses to play against as a rookie getting a first taste of NFL action, but it wasn't an inspiring performance. He'll likely be placed on IR in the near future, and the Vikings will hope for a rebound in year two." I didn't at the time but now I see that Elam was the better pick, we have been trying to get him used to playing outside his comfort "zone" in the early part of the year and he's been getting better and better. Now in the playoffs we'll be able to be run multiple coverages with his skill set along with Tre back in the fold

I got flamed for this but I think we see it tonight. Benford and Taron are fantastic in Run support, I bet we see them outside with Bernard on the field tonight as well show how versatile our defense can be against run heavy personnel groupings. I’m probably going to be wrong but what the hell, so pumped for this game.

How confident are you going into tonight's game?

It is a bit crazy to think that we are playing the SB champs at home and we have so much hype that we are the favorites. That's got to rub the Rams the wrong way, somehow we are the hunted yet we didn't win anything yet -
I’m assuming they weren’t using a 3rd pick on a backup for Milano.
-
So if we roll 3 LBs we are taking one of our best players off the field when would don’t have to.
-
I know Taron Johnson is one of the best Nickel corners in the NFL but with the surprise of drafting Terrell Bernard in the 3rd round, is it possible that McBeane are thinking they could move Taron Johnson outside and get a 3rd LB on the field? im thinking the answer is yes and that’s why the pick they made in round 3 makes sense. If I’m right we’ll see if that was the thought process early as the 1st few games with no T White will provide much opportunity to roll out this personal grouping.

Name 2 players drafted by the Buffalo Bills in 2022

Calvin Austin. Kenneth Walker -
I’m aware. I never said he was a finished product as a rookie. My issue is the narrative that this was such a surprise. That his progress is so incredible considering how BAD he was in the 1st 2 years. They made fun of Buffalo for trading up to draft him at 7 overall, yet it was clear Josh had real talent. That’s what I’m saying. As many posters have said, because of his work ethic and determination Josh has significantly improved each part of every season but at a very steady pace that was easy to see if you actually watched the games, it didn’t come out of nowhere.
-
He’s always improving and getting better no doubt about it. I guess I simply reject the notion that he was trash at 1st and then became amazing.

The media loves talking about how much better Josh Allen is now compared to his 1st 2 years, like it came outta nowhere and in my opinion that’s simply lazy on their part. I went back and read the message board archives during Allens rookie season (I have too much time on my hands) and the sense most of us had was after Josh sat out a bit with his injury the game started to slow down for him and he was consistently showing us that he had the “it” factor to be what he’s become. His O-Line was terrible and his WRs helped him even less yet he was still out there running for 18 yards on a 3rd and 16. Or firing a ball on 3rd and 22 past the sticks hitting Kelvin Benjamin or Zay Jones in the hands who would constantly let him down. The point I’m trying to make is that is was clear to us that he was special early on regardless of the completion % because when you watched the games you knew he was giving you everything he’s got, every play. These NFL analysts should step their game up.

Do we now become a “goto” destination for free agents.
