I'm all in on WR in round 1, but I'll NEVER be against investing in the O-line. It's not as exciting, but a better O-line lifts the entire offensive unit. As long as we're not continuing to ignore the offense, I'll be fine.

Yeah, probably a bad idea since you're already not as talented & are trying to catch up. I don't care if we only lost by 3 points, they now have 3 x Super Bowls & 4 appearances while we've had Josh starting for 6 seasons. Obviously trying to emulate them all these years has not yielded their results. We need to leapfrog them, not keep pace right beneath them.

People saying they hate change or it's lame need to remember that kickoffs essentially became dead plays last year. Nearly every kickoff resulted in a touchback, especially with the new fair catch rule. 2010 - 416 touchbacks 2023 - 1,970 touchbacks The Bills only had 349 return yards last year... so 20 yards a game. Paired with the change to touchbacks starting at the 25 yard line, it's been more pointless than ever to return kicks. This change will allow returners more opportunities while still limiting the potential for major injuries. I'm all for it.

So surprise onside kicks are out?

What happens if you buy the PSL but don't buy season tickets? I never understood why you need to pay for the right to pay for something else. It's the dumbest scam in the sports world, and it's shame that so many fans proved to owners this works. Hopefully it fails miserably in Buffalo, and PSL prices will be significantly reduced. But if that happens, all the people who paid the $15k - $50k for their PSLs will be losing out huge in their investment. Wish the state money used to fund the stadium came with the stipulation that ownership could not charge for PSLs, otherwise they would have to reimburse the taxpayer funding.

If that's illegal now, how are people supposed to wrap them up tackle them when running from behind? I'm trying to envision chasing a guy and grabbing him, but not being able to drop to the ground to stop them. Do you just lunge at their feet & trip them? Grab them by the jersey & hope to swing them down while running? Launch yourself like a missile & hope you knock them forward? This rule is DEFINITELY going to screw us (and many other teams) over in many games this season.

McDermott is feeling the pressure
BigDingus replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
He's right though, it is hard. And plenty of other talented teams are thinking the same thing - we should be able to win a Super Bowl! Don't you think the Bengals front office is thinking "we're THIS close, just need a bit more to get over the hump!" Same with the Ravens, 49ers, Lions, Eagles, Cowboys, etc. Meanwhile, only 1 out of 32 teams win each year, and the Chiefs keep being that 1 team. The odds are against you every season. A LOT has to go right. The fact that Mahomes & Co. have won 3 x SBs already, and have finished in the AFCCG at worst, shows they're a step ahead of everyone else. Sometimes we act like we're the only team that can't get over the Chiefs hump, and that if we could, we'd win a Super Bowl. And because we've gotten so close, it's truly within reach! But look at the other guys: Chiefs beat the Bengals by 3 points in the AFCCG in 2022 Then they beat the Eagles by 3 points in the Super Bowl. They beat the 49ers 2 x in the Super Bowl. They beat us 2 x in the divisional round, both by 1 score. They beat the Ravens by a TD in the AFCCG. Only Brady & the Pats in Mahomes' first season starting, and the Bengals in OT back in 2021 managed to punch through that wall. All these teams thought they were so close, but it's not that simple. So I understand that the odds are stacked against us, and that it's not as simple as drafting some good players or signing some good FA's. Every team gets to draft new players & sign FA's. We need to draft smarter, be more strategic with team building, get lucky with health, coach smarter and have our players not sh*t the bed in the playoffs (like the 2023 divisional round game, Josh included). That's a lot of things we need to fall into place. -
Bills Titans 1999 playoff game on air today 1230
BigDingus replied to davefan66's topic in The Stadium Wall
The first & only football game I've ever cried over... I grew up Catholic & was doing community service for my Confirmation. I was painting the house of this impoverished family, and they put the game on for me to watch while I painted. I went into it expecting us to lose... What team starts their backup QB for a playoff game when their starter is still healthy?! But as the game went on, I slowly started to hope. After Christie kicked that FG to put us ahead with seconds left, I was jumping around their kitchen & high-fiving the dad from that family. Then the stupidity that followed silenced the house. I walked away trying to hide my sadness, but just started crying. 12 year old me was devastated... I can only imagine how older Bills fans felt. -
Speed isn't everything, but don't undersell it either. We've seen how WRs with that kind of speed can make their own separation, and Tyreek has made a career off of it. Not saying he's like that, but I no longer shrug off those guys like I did when people hyped up Marquise Goodwin's potential & 4.27 40 time. Worthy's 4.21 combine 40 time is elite speed, paired with production, so I'd be happy.

Anyone else feeling pretty good with the Bills?
BigDingus replied to SoonerBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
"Pretty good?" - Sure. Confident in our Super Bowl chances? - Not really. As the saying goes, "If you're not improving, you're falling behind," and I'm not sure we've actually improved in any way on the field... YET. We managed to squeeze our way back under the cap, didn't bottom out with all the guys that left/were cut, and signed the usual players that all teams fill their depth chart with each off-season. I think Curtis Samuel will be good, so I'm excited about that, but also not convinced he'll be any "better" for us than Hollywood Brown will be for the Chiefs (who they signed for even less money). Chiefs aside, you have the Texans wanting to load up to build off last year (and Stroud improving in year 2), Burrow returning from injury, the Ravens adding Derrick Henry, and even the Steelers likely to be more competent with either Wilson or Fields at QB instead of Pickett. I'd say we're still better off than the Dolphins & Jets, despite the latter trying to go all-in with Rodgers, so that's nice. Ultimately, the draft is where it's at. If we can nail that WR pick & maybe luck out into some hidden, elite talent, we'll have a real shot. Otherwise, the only real difference is health & loss of some locker room leaders. -
Marvin Harrison Jr wants to be a Bill
BigDingus replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
DO IT! Trade Josh Allen if you have to, MHJ will be our savior! Or he'd murder us for trading Allen... -
I understand the reasoning, but it has that same stench of NBA superstars skipping out on the dunk contest, trying to protect their image. Or for a more apples to apples comparison, players sitting out their bowl game to protect draft stock. It won't hurt him at all, it just looks weak to nonathletic, amateur, know-nothing dorks sitting at home & judging from the sideline like myself....

Bills have private workout scheduled with WR Troy Franklin
BigDingus replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
That definitely adds to it. But those early season highlights really stood out, as it looked like he was wearing this oversized helmet vs those super skinny legs. Also looks like he gained weight over the season. Maybe it's in my head, but by the end of the video he looked like he filled out quite a bit. -

His legs look like tooth picks! Route running looks good though. -
I will never be against improving the OL! Even if I'd like them to be looking for a young WR1 to eventually take over for Diggs, protecting Josh is just as important. The Chiefs spent quite a few picks on linemen & now have a solid core of guys. I'd be thrilled for us to do the same.

Looks like the Houston Texans’ new uniforms have leaked
BigDingus replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
Thought the colors were the Bears unis at first... Then again, my vision is getting worse, so this could be on me. -
Maybe some of the posters on this board will realize cryptic tweets or yelling on the sidelines 2 years ago isn't much in the grand scheme of things.
-
My first thoughts were "wow, only a 6th?!" but I really don't think Fields is very good... I still think Russ will get the starting job in Pittsburgh, so this is just an insurance policy. He's interesting for the running element to his game, but otherwise he puts up Tyrod passing numbers.
-
You're the one who posted the first image, completely disregarding everything I said. Oh no, Diggs got mad on the sidelines 2 years ago! How terrible of him! Point is, competitive players get mad on the sidelines. Big deal. The fact you thought that was relevant at all to what I said is bizarre. We were talking about "cryptic tweets," hence the title of the thread. I literally said "with the league's storied history of diva WRs, this barely registers" and you responded with an image of him yelling on the sidelines. The fact YOU think that's "equivalent" is what's funny.

We are set at WR. Maybe we’ll grab one in Round 6.
BigDingus replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall
I will neither "face it" or "deal with it." This is like people saying the 2017 Bills were set because they had Kelvin Benjamin, Brandon Tate, Zay Jones and Deonte Thompson... but this time we have 31 year old Stefon Diggs, too! But we have Dalton Kincaid! Oh yeah? Well they had Logan Thomas who put up 72 receptions, 670 yards & 6 TDs his first year with Washington! 😉 We NEED more young, ELITE talent. The draft is where we have to look. -
When will the schedule be available for next season?
BigDingus replied to oldmanfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm just happy we get to play the 49ers & Chiefs at home. Also, can we please whoop Jacksonville's a$$ this year? It's been embarrassing the past couple of seasons, need to put a stop to this shame! -
He's not out there in the media, constantly in front of the cameras yapping on about the QB, teammates or the organization, yet people act like he's sooooooo much drama. Just accept he likes the social media attention. He's probably chilling with friends saying, "Watch, all I gotta do is post 2 or 3 random words & suddenly thousands of people start freaking out." Is that immature or annoying? Some people will definitely think so. But with the league's storied history of diva WRs, this barely registers.
-
So the Bills basically have all slot receivers... even Kincaid was drafted saying he'd run in the slot. And at this point in his career, even Diggs might be better off in the slot 😅
