Man that would be horrible... It'd be next to impossible to trade up if that's the case.

Out of pure hope, I voted Tyrod Taylor. However, it's very likely Kyle Williams will retire, along with Cordy Glenn being traded. I know some people LOVE Glenn, but he's the highest paid player on this team and is often injured, as well as not being a top-tier tackle. He's good, but not great (PFF has him ranked 43rd). And with the way McBeane is running this team, those people getting big contracts are considered expendable. Good luck sir, and if your dreams come true, please put in a good word for me with Kate will ya?

The term "Redskins" isn't offensive to a large enough minority group for them to change it. If it was a derogatory term towards black people, sure, they'd be forced to change it. But since there isn't a huge population of Native Americans, and most Americans don't even know any personally, they just ignore it. Snyder just needs to change the name to something more contemporary-racist than what it is now lol Also, I like the name Redhawks. That's a pretty sweet name. C'mon... Is it really so hard to understand how that term could be considered derogatory to a group of people if you are part of that group? I mean it's a no-brainer to me. Could I make a team called the "Brooklyn Darkies" or "San Francisco Yellowskins?" Definitely not. It's just that most of us in this country don't really pay attention to Native Americans in general enough to care.

Uh no. His name is Teef & he's a muppet. How dare you slander his good name!
-
I like how they pretend they're going to keep Hue around for a long time. No, they absolutely won't. If he doesn't at least make the team competitive by the end of this year, he'll be out. If whatever QB they draft doesn't light it up, he'll be called a bust & benched. Cleveland is one of the few teams worse than us for head coaches & QB's. I swear, even if I was a young coach looking for any gig I'd be hesitant to ever take that job... It'd probably be a stain on my career forever.
-
Not true. I loved me some Teef. I'm old-school lovin' Teef. Don't you mess with my Teef!

Unless they win the division...which is 99.99999999999% impossible. But hey, some people on this board genuinely think we will somehow.

So does anyone BELIEVE we will make the Playoffs?

So winning the division? I'm generally an optimistic person, but there aren't enough drugs in the world to make me THAT optimistic -
But he put the team on his shoulders that day and executed like a truly great player should. Yes, every win or loss involves the whole team to some degree, but the great players step up in the moment & make plays. McCoy did that and deserves the bulk of the credit. Edit: Just wanted to clarify, the defense DOES deserve credit. I just want to make clear I believe McCoy should get all the praise in the world as he was the only way we were going to win that game in those conditions coming in, he knew it, and he delivered.
-
I really hope he gets a chance to start for someone next year just so all the media "experts" who talked him up as if he were some all-time great when he got benched can eat crow. The same people that watched none of our games, saw highlights and box scores, then threw out how awesome he is as if they actually have a clue will be forced to recognize what kind of player he really is.

Some love for Bills fans from out-of-town writer
BigDingus replied to merlin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's crazy that we keep getting rated at the bottom of "best/most supportive NFL fan bases" lists each year because of the stupid metrics they use. We're a team that hasn't made the playoffs going on 18 years, have horrible weather like this, and still sell out most games (or have far more people than we should willing to sit through crap like this past game). Yet somehow these lists keep popping up of Best Fan Bases and the Bills (along with most small market teams) are near the bottom. That just shows their requirements for basing these rankings are horribly flawed. Emory University Study - Bills ranked 16th (Top 5: Cowboys, Patriots, Eagles, Giants, Steelers) - https://scholarblogs.emory.edu/esma/2017/06/17/nfl-fan-base-and-brand-rankings-2017/ ^ That's the "official" study that was widely circulated and reported on by NFL.com, ESPN, CBS Sports, Yahoo! and every other outlet. -
2018 NFL Cap Projected to be Between $174M-$178M
BigDingus replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd be interested to see how much profit the Bills take in each year and where it comes from. As the cap keeps going up, it seems like smaller markets should find it harder & harder to compete, as they don't take in nearly as much revenue as the big city teams do. I know there's revenue sharing, and the TV deals are extremely lucrative, but how does a team like Buffalo with a small market & fanbase afford to spend so much money on players in the future when it hits $200 million and above? Once they spend that much, how much is there left over for all the other costs of operations, coaching staff, scouts, front office personnel, trainers, regular employees, upkeep costs, stadium maintenance, property tax, facilities, marketing, etc.? Maybe NFL teams like us, the Titans, the Jags, or New Orleans make more money than I realize, but it still seems like eventually we won't be able to keep pace. Edit: Well, I just looked into a tiny bit of it, and the Bills are dead last in terms of operating profit, and 2nd to last in total yearly revenue (we bring it $352 million yearly, netting $53 million in profit). Sadly, we're also valued at dead last at $1.6 billion, just under the Lions at $1.7 billion Increasing the cap $7-10 million a year is going to quickly eat into that, as I know there's a minimum you HAVE to spend towards the cap each season. Even teams with smaller markets are pulling in more than us. https://www.forbes.com/nfl-valuations/list/#tab:overall -
I really think by the end of next season you'll be thinking something completely different. Mahomes is going to be good. I can pretty much guarantee it from everything that he was in college, to be coached by Andy Reid, to having a year to sit behind Alex Smith & learn all he can, and from everything that's been reported about him in practice. The guy is legit. Not sure when he sees play as a starter, but once he has a full season under his belt, a lot of teams are going to wish they targeted him in the draft.

What's that supposed to mean? He's stated that somewhere before? I'm pretty sure 99% of owners WANT a dome, it's just a matter of affording the construction of a domed stadium. And just because it's an indoor stadium, doesn't necessarily mean it'll be one of those massive palaces that Jones, Blank & Kroenke like. Lucas Oil Stadium (Colts) cost $856 million (adjusted for inflation), Ford Field (Lions) cost $696 million, NRG Stadium (Texans) cost $490 million (Man...Texas is awesome), and University of Phoenix Stadium (Cardinals) cost $556 million. Problem is a lot of owners want to go ALL-OUT and put the nicest, most luxurious and absolute best of everything in these stadiums. The box seats are of huge importance, so they make them as flashy and prestigious looking as possible to attract as much money as possible. We could feasibly build a fixed or retractable roof stadium if they were smart with their money and didn't feel the need to one-up the last palace built. I know luxury suites are important, but New Era Field only has like 60 or so executive suites right? They wouldn't have to add a ton more, as they know their audience isn't primarily made up of a bunch of rich businessmen or upper-class white collar people. And I'd think the Pegula's would be financing the stadium privately (with possible small assistance from the county), so they'd want to make sure it was economical.

Taylor's set to make $18 million next year... I don't think the Bills want to be on the hook for that kind of money for the production we're getting. Very unlikely a team will trade for him anyway.

"Colts-Bills was the game of the year" - NFL in 90
BigDingus replied to BigDingus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Didn't they say he was 11 of 21 all time kicking in Buffalo? I believe they said that when he was lining up for the 43 yard extra point, but they were referring to FG's. So make it 11 of 22 now (as I assume they included the one he missed earlier). Adam Vinatieri being a 50% FG kicker in Buffalo is pretty nutty to think about. He either just has bad days playing here, or he just has the worst luck ever & always ends up playing us in terrible weather. Yeah, that's pretty much the gist of what the guy in the video is saying without specifically mentioning a dome. Basically saying the game looks too sterilized & perfect all the time, and the presentation is so doctored up it hardly resembles the game as it used to be. -

Considering the Chiefs gave up a 1st round pick for the following year, and the 27th pick + a 3rd rounder in that draft just to move up to #10, I'd assume we'd have to give up even move up to the 2nd or 3rd overall pick. As of now, Cleveland picks #1...and they're 50/50 on drafting a QB with that pick. The Giants are #2, and they're DEFINITELY going QB. Our best bet may be the Colts at #3, as Luck will be returning next year (I know there's rumors saying it's all mental & the Colts might not want him, but I don't believe them). Our next best shot would be the 49ers at #4 unless they keep winning more games and move up the charts with the Broncos or the Browns (again...they have two 1st round picks) in that spot. Buffalo is currently sitting at #15 and #21 (Chiefs spot). The #1 pick is worth 3000 points. The #2 pick is worth 2600 points. The #3 pick is worth 2200 points. The #4 pick is worth 1800 points. Lastly, the #5 pick is worth 1700 points. The Bills two picks are worth 1050 & 800 respectively, so 1850 combined. That's good enough to move up to #4 or #5, but not enough to move to the top 3. If we throw in the 47th pick in round 2, that's an additional 430, bumping the total to 2,280, just enough to snag the #3 pick. It all depends on what teams want to play ball, and how many want a QB, as well as what other teams may be offering them. We could send both 1st rounders, a 3rd, and a 2nd in 2019, and I believe that would get things done. -
https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl-90-colts-bills-game-023135073.html This feels like the most recognition the team has got in ages. Even when we're on win streaks to start off the season, the attention seem superficial. This time though people are still talking about this game like it's some all-time classic. I can't go online without seeing yet another meme made out of it, or another cool story that came from it (like Bills players helping fans who had cars stuck in the snow). Really entertaining to keep reading & watching more cool coverage of this game. Seems football fans around the country are just fascinated by it.

BigDingus replied to BigDingus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So really the easiest way would just be hoping that somehow the Ravens choke to one of those teams they should beat, and then whatever happens with the Chiefs & Chargers would determine the rest? -
But I don't get what the point is and even saying that... The best QB on this roster by what metric? That he's not a 5th round rookie who has a combined total of 1 game under his belt? Well I sure hope so...He's a 7 year veteran and 3 year starter... But what good does that say about him? We KNOW who Tyrod is. 100% up and down. We KNOW he won't try to win us any games if we ever fall behind. You act like you know the QB Peterman is when no matter what you say, we just don't. He was absolutely horrendous in 1 half of 1 game. We know he tries to get the ball to Benjamin as much as he can, has a quick release, and throws downfield. That's it. We are under no illusions that we're a SB contender. So why not try to go with the guy who clearly TRIES to play the QB position instead of the RB in disguise who will most certainly be nothing more than who he has always been?
-
I said the Fish game was better, as I confirmed you were right...it was his actual best game. But that's was it. You used his BEST game to one-up his SECOND BEST game. That's it. His two best games in a nutshell. So over the body of work we've seen, he has 1 performance in a loss that's pretty good, and another performance in a loss that's actually good. Do you know how laughable it is to hold up 1 game of 300 yards (that took OT to achieve) and say "See, he's good!" when you have career journeymen put up those numbers multiple times over their careers? And although Brady is a HOFer, he AVERAGES 300 yards a game at 40... Let that sink in for a moment. And 3 passing TD's one time in his life? How is that impressive again? JP Losman had multiple 300 yard games and multiple 3 TD games... Do we hold up those as if he was somehow a decent QB? Do we say "look at his best game ever, followed by his second best game ever!" and then try to pretend that's even semi-indicative of the kind of player he was? No. So to pretend Tyrod has a history of this, or some great track record is ridiculous. You are right, I'm done "acknowledging the good." It's too few and far between, and outliers aren't the norm. If you want, you can ignore his two sub-100 yard passing games this season as outliers too, but you're still left with a guy who averages 160 passing yards, and 1 TD a game. What's to acknowledge there?
-
I remember 2 things far more in that game. 1) The halftime FG kick debacle, and 2) Robert Woods making huge plays all game long, having a career defining game. I do remember Tyrod doing well, but when Russell Wilson is on the other side having an average day, yet still playing better than Tyrod, it doesn't stand out as much. He threw for only 7 less yards but otherwise played better across the board. He had 2 passing TDs, no interceptions, 11 YPA (as opposed to 7.6), also had a rushing TD, and took 1 less sack (4 instead of 5). He's a fantastic player, and Tyrod did his best Russell Wilson performance, but it just showed the disparity between the 2 when Wilson wasn't even at his best and still putting on a performance.

BigDingus replied to BigDingus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks, that makes far more sense now. It'd probably help if between CBS, NFL.com, ESPN, and NBC (and the other outlets) could get their playoff seating right & explain tiebreakers better. Half of them were still showing the Ravens this morning as the 6th seed, and even tonight on MNF they showed that as well. Super confusing. -
Oh, so another game they lost... And his one game throwing for 3 TDs in his career, as well as the only time he broke 300 due to having OT lol. I guess his 3-20 all-time record in games the Bills go down by even a single point in the 4th quarter shows how he just puts the team on his shoulders and wills them to victory right? It's still amusing you throw out his best game EVER, as a defense for his second best game EVER, and use that as if it proves anything about his play as a 7 year vet & 3 year starter. Josh McCown has had better games than those...Rookies new to the league have better games than those. But hey, don't let facts get in the way of your hopes & dreams. Dream on...
-
Yeah, we lost. And that was the BEST Tyrod has ever played before or since. 289 yards, 1 passing TD, 1 INT and 1 rushing TD. It's funny that stands out as some fantastic achievement on his resume, when that would be like an above average game for most any "good" QB. We put a whopping 25 points up, so yeah, I guess that's better than the 3 we've been getting.
