I've been pretty vocal the last couple years not believing in Elam. But I just saw this Twitter post bragging about how Benford was better than Elam, and how Benford may be a top 3 CB in the league right now. Here's the post - Which has me wonder, how do the biggest Bills homers in the world feel about Elam's position right now? We're all Bills nerds here, so we're bound to be more optimistic than the average person. Do you guys think he's still a great talent that just doesn't fit the scheme? Do you think he'd shine if given more opportunities? Or like me, did you already think last year that he was a bust? And if this is a repeat of some of other old post (since I know we've all talked about Elam a ton), please mods feel free to merge, thanks!

Hell no. I'd rather see Miami in the playoffs than the Bengals. Even at their best, we have Miami's number. The Bengals are a bad match up for the Bills. ******** Also, Chiefs start is more impressive. Don't lie - If the Bills started the season by beating both Lamar Jackson & Joe Burrow, we'd say that's far more impressive than beating Kyler Murray & Tua/Thompson. I don't care about their records. The Bengals & Ravens are better wins than Cardinals & Dolphins.

Well if you went just a BIT further, you'd find Ken Stabler on that list at #42 and Joe Namath at #44, so HAH! Also, I'd say Jalen Hurts is pretty good. Not elite, but good.

Dirk Nowitzki. But aside from Dirk, my favorite unheralded/under-the-radar players would be: - Corey Dillon (never gets enough credit for how good he was) - Zach Thomas (Texas Tech guy, unfortunate he played for the Dolphins) - Chad Pennington (Also from the Jets/Dolphins, dude was extremely smart & could've been great if he stayed healthy - despite the arm strength) And even though he's a Bills player, Terrence McGee. I don't think he gets talked about enough as one of the greats of the Bills drought era, as his best years were fairly early on. But he was great on ST & a very good CB. He holds all the Bills kickoff return records (yards, TDs, longest return, etc.) and even most passes defended.

Does Buffalo still have a lot of unused buildings downtown or nearby? Been a while since I've visited, but I always wondered why they're left to decay & not demolished. I think I read somewhere that some of those structures on the water front area (silos I believe?) are still hanging around because people want it designated a landmark. I know it costs money to demolish buildings, but if they're in super bad shape it would just be nice to clear out & plant some trees if need be 😅

But what happens if he suffers a life-altering final concussion on national television? What if the next one kills him or makes him a vegetable? Are fans ready for what comes next when the NFL goes scorched earth changing all the rules & turning football into something unrecognizable from the current product? With all the heat they'd face for having that happen to an athlete we all KNEW had severe concussion risks, I believe they'd go all out trying to prove they'll never allow something like that to happen again. I don't want the league to change more than it already has. Allowing Tua to keep playing risks more than just his own health imo.

I know people are saying "it's his choice, let Tua decide!" but I don't think they're thinking ahead at how detrimental this could be to the ENTIRE SPORT. Let's just say he chooses to play knowing the risks of more terrible concussions. It's a violent game after all, he's an adult, knows the risks, and feels it's worth it to provide for his family. We all know it's risky, but the worst that could happen is he suffers another one, right? But what if his brain is already severely damaged, and the next one potentially kills him? What do you think the league will look like after a player actually dies on the field on national TV? Look how scary it was for Damar, only this time it's permanent. The league who's more concerned with its image anything else... there will be DRAMATIC rule changes that may actually kill the sport the way it is today. They'll need to appear like they're making a dramatic overhaul right? Better helmets, more penalties & more armor won't be enough. They've done that before. Maybe we remove all that & go back to a more rugby style of football. Maybe they make it so tackling in general is gone. Flag football will be in the Olympics, so maybe they think it's time to reboot. Does anyone want that? We already get mad about kickoff being changed every single year, the crazy protection QBs get (and Tua is a QB, yet this still happened to him), the banning of helmet to helmet/horse collar/hip drop/etc tackles, and all these rules meant to protect players. None of it helped Tua. We don't know how bad CTE is until these athletes die & have their brains examined. What if Tua has smaller collisions that don't appear as concussions, then gets hit with another severe one? His brain is not going to magically heal & undo all this. You might be thinking about this in isolation to ONE player, but look at it on a wider scale. It won't just be the Dolphins or their doctors that get punished. The entire league will be negatively affected if Tua suffers another concussion. And if there's even a tiny possibility he could potentially die, the league NEEDS to step in for all our sakes. Tua may say "it's worth the risk," but is it worth the risk to every NFL fan that the game they live could be irreversibly changed forever? I say no.

Doubtful. Waddle gets banged up quite a bit, Hill is their real number 1, and McDaniel is an offensive-minded guy... He's going to keep all the offensive firepower he can. They can try the 49ers route & just surround whoever is back there with every weapon possible. Shanahan is a better coach, but I could see McDaniel thinking he's capable of that.

So they could technically still have this record if they lose out, as long as they lose within 1 score! Sweet!

I'm more interested in how many coaches have even MADE a Super Bowl after 7 years of none. Several coaches have won a Super Bowl after 7 years, but they also had already been to & lost SBs prior to that.

This could end up one of the all time dumbest overreaction threads ever. If this ends up being only one of like 2 or 3 sacks all year, it'll keep getting bumped for the memes. If he keeps showing out, getting pressure & racking up sacks consistently, there will a lot of crow to go around!

I really think this segment was the most interesting First Thing's First Bills segment I've ever seen - The whole thing is about the Bills, but I started at the 8:00 minute mark because that's where they ask how concerning Allen's injury is. And the way the discussion unfolds talking about what Allen's asked to do & how he plays was very fascinating to listen to. Everyone gives him tons of praise, but they bounce around ideas on why he's more physical than some other running QBs, how he may be going into the season thinking "I'm going to take over," or even bring up that Mahomes has Reid dialing up plays that can protect him, while Josh may not. As much as we all dislike Nick Wright, I make it a point to listen to people I don't agree with. But I've always respected Broussard, and it's interesting to hear all 3 of them discuss Allen in this way.

To be fair, wasn't it even longer that the Bills had won the division pre-Josh?
