Not in this situation. McD/Beane sold Pegula on the trade of AJ on 2 pts: Peterman was as good as AJ and could hold down the store while Josh A comes along, who is clearly not ready. So now you think that because the first premise is wrong, you should give up your strategy on the second premise? That's a big gamble and I dont think McD will / nor should take it. If JA gets injured you then have only NP, and then the knives coming out for you

If you're McD, you know how much hell there will to be pay if Allen gets hurt and the world decided it was because he was inserted too early in his development. I think they start Peterman, because he's more expendable than their new toy. Truth is he's not actually, there's no other arm on the bench besides him and JA Whaley once complained about his QB purgatory...this might be worse and it was so self-inflicted

McD cant put a guy in next week that he has had to pull of the field twice for horrible play. Even if he believes in him, which at this point...he shouldn't. Whatever promise Peterman shows in practice, it doesn't make it to game day.

Not to make excuses for him but...he should NOT have been given the start against LAC last year, and I dont think he was actually 'over it', certainly not enough so that he could go into a game this week, with questionable assets around him, and have a chance. He's probably so shell-shocked now, even he knows his days are already over, after barely 5 1/2 quarters
