[Vague Title]Raiders let promising get away, signed by Bills
Mat68 replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mabin looked the part of a corner until he was abused by AJ Green this year. Looks like he could fit the defense but time will tell. This is a move for next year not now. -
2018 Trade partners moving up the board

I agree. Buffalo has too much ammo not to use it for a qb. If they dont get a qb in the draft or fa my patients will be out with the new regime. -
Before anything else they need a Qb. You can find a starter at every level of the defense and offense in Fa.

You are right. Taking a Qb because you have to leaves you with EJ, That draft was ultra thin at Qb. The first place they will need to look is in Fa and Vetran Qbs. There will be a handful available. I think you find an improvement over Taylor first. if that doesn't happen you keep Tyrod to limit a desperation pick. After free agency but starting at the combine you try to gauge interest in the top 2 spots. Picks player nothing is off the table if Both Darnold and Rosen come out. In there own right they are very talented and both high level Qb prospect. Then from there work your way down the board if you have high marks on the remaining 3 Allen, Jackson, or Mayfield. For me personally the first conversation I have at the end of the year is with the Colts. They will have a desirable pick but also have a Qb that who appears to be some doubts with and a player who has moved more and more away from the organization. I believe he has refused treatment with Indy after being placed on Ir and has been getting treatment in Europe on his shoulder. That would be the guy I would go after. Healthy, he is one of the top 5 Qb in the league and has succeeded without alot of weapons or a run game in the league. Still young for a Qb. Probably can give up less for than a complete trade up with Indy. -
Tyler Dunne Article on Sammy Watkins' Maturation

The exact reason why Mcermott didn't pick up his option and oked the the trade. Buffalo needs a tremendous amount of character and leadership to turn around the 17 year old fiasco. Stat me guys do nothing to change the culture and expectations of the team moving forward. On a winning team Watkins would be little to no problem. for a franchise trying to climb out of the gutter Watkins is a monkey on your back. -
Its the first option that is available. Cousins and a qb they value above Taylor. At the combine i would have alot of discussions with Indy. For the possibility of making a draft day trade with them and also the trade availability of Andrew Luck. A trade up will be required to get the top guys. Idk if I would be comfortable with Mayfield. He is not the athlete that Wilson or Brees were. Those are the only shorter guys with alot of success. Allen is going to be the most scrutinized prospect and teams will either love or hate him. His size arm and athleticism will guarantee a team in the top 10 will fall in love with him.

We beat the KC and Oakland. We want SD to win the west.

Who will be playing their last home game a Bill on Sunday?

A good portion of the Vetran leadership will be gone imo. I would guess have of them are gone. -
Lets just go for Kirk Cousins in the offseason

If im bringing in any vet i am calling up indy and offering 2 first for Luck. He is a franchise Qb. -

I dont believe Allen makes is out of the top 10. His athleticism, size and arm are off the charts. Prospects with that combination do not fall in the draft. I dont think you can bring in Cousins and trade up for a Qb the same year. To get Allen Buffalo will need to leap in front of the Broncos, and Jets at minimum. -
Buffalo need to get a Qb.
-
Im ok with Bradford if Buffalo takes Allen or Jackson. If its Bradford over a first rd qb there would be no interest from me.

Does Cousins make Buffalo a Superbowl contender? You are paying him like he does. i think he makes us better but I wouldnt feel comfortable paying him as the highest paid player in the league. I like the talent in this draft and would rather have any of the following Rosen, Darnaold, Jackson or Allen before Cousins. -
Armchair OC question....

Taylor keeps the team a float. Last offseason I said the same thing. He is an above replace Qb. Not the next level of premier starter or Franchise qb. However, he is not a fringe starter or backup quality. He is solidly average. Buffalo over the past 17 years have had much worst Qb play. His contract is not terrible. They wont be able to find similar production for similar money on the open market. if they Get Cousin i think they can trade Taylor for a Defensive player or mid rd pick. If they miss out on Darnold or Rosen they have a vetran that can lead the team until Allen, Jackson or whatever Qb they pick is ready to go. If the rookie starts pushing him in camp they could pull the eagles and ship off Taylor mid camp to a team that lost there Qb or whos Qb wont be ready week 1. IE Houston or Philly. -

See i put put Rudolph and Mayfield in the Locker, ponder, Gabbert category. Tannehill has been servicable to good and earn a big second contract. imo he has reached his potential and the Dolphins made the right pick. Allen and Lamar Jackson are much better prospects than those 4 guys. Their are 4 big time prospects and a few others that will get over drafted by need and the amount of old Qbs in the NFL. No, Ne, Gb, Pittsburg are all in the find the the next guy market. -

By not blitzing and rushing the passer heavy he is forced to go through his progressing and find the holes in the zones. He struggles with that part of the game. i think forming a traditonal pocket around Taylor doesnt make alot of sense. Gb and Seatle almost block straight unless the edge rusher tries to go around than they get pushed behind the qb. He struggles with anticipation throws and tight windows. 3rd and long he struggles thrid and medium or less he is very good at. With Mccoy it is easy to always run on first down I thinki they should get Taylor in rythem and pass more on first and second down. -

Allen and Rosen have the best arm talent. I think Jackson is a sleeper top 10 pick. Say all you want about accuracy and what not, they said the same things about Cunningham, Vick, Newton, RG3 and Watson. He is electric and I think he wins rookie of the year in 18. -

True Value? Maybe not but Allen will be the most impressive prospect NFL teams have seen in some time when it comes to workouts. Jackson could be the right handed more dedicated Mike Vick. To think no one will take a gamble on either of those guys is naive imo. Rudolfph and Mayfield have the longest road to travel to be a first rd pick imo. Imo with you 100% There will not be another year in some time with as many first rd talent Qbs that are there this year and Buffalo wont have the same amount of assets to make a move to get one. I think they could realistically back up the brinks truck to whatever team is considering Rosen and that team may buckle. NYG maybe go all in on one last run with Eli. -

I do not believe you have to move up to 3 for Mayfield or Rudolph. Imo both will be available in the middle of the first maybe late first. Outside of Rosen or Darnold the other Qbs you would need to trade up for Allen or Jackson. Both have and can do things on the football field Mayfield and Rudolph can not. Their potential and athletic abilities will make them top 10 or even top 5 consideration. All 4 of the guys after Rosen and Darnold have their warts but Jackson and Allen strengths translate to NFL better and both have top 5 potential to justify the pick. If Allen or Jackson turn into what you think they can be than you just hit a grandslam. -
Paying a QB 30 mil a year, you are saying he is good enough to win you a superbowl. I dont see that with Cousins. I think he would give us the best chance to make the Playoffs and if the Brady and Big ben retire he may get us to a Superbowl. I dont see him beating any of the guys in the NFC. There are 5 guys that really intrigue me that could come out this year. Rosen and Darnold are the cream of the crop. Rosen is best thrower of the Football and can make any throw you want with accuracy. My #1 priority would be to go after which ever one of those guys dont go #1. With the recent success of the 49ers I expect the top two teams to be both QB needy. Plan B I would first kick the tires on Andrew Luck. If he is available for trade I would roll the dice to get him. He is a better Qb than anything available. I would hope for a Drew Brees type recovery. If he is not attainable I would shift my attention to whoever I determine is the next guy below Rosen or Darnoald. I think that could be any of the following Jackson, Mayfieled, or Jackson. This is really personal preference and who do you trust more. I think of the 3 trade possibilities the 3rd option would cost the least but another Qb would need to be on the roster to remove any forced action if the guy isn't ready week 1.

True. What is not looked at is what would be the economical impact of the region if the Bills leave. Sure the State and county are not getting their money back for paying for a new stadium. They will take a loss if the franchise leave. Would you rather take a loss and have the Bills or take a loss when the Bills leave. Keeping the Bills and having a better game day experience inside the stadium for the fans would be a net gain for anyone that likes the Bills or wants the city to thrive.
-
I dont believe anyone is debating the economical impact a NFL stadium has. Its a fact that Buffalo would have the ability to host events with a Domed stadium that currently is not available with an open stadium, and probably more importantly a stadium that is a few decades behind in areas. For the Buffalo Bills to stay in the area a new Stadium is needed to be built or the process approved with in 5 years. With the game yesterday it would make the most sense as a business to make the last quarter of their homes games more enjoyable so they will have higher attendance totals. Improving the product on the field sure helps yes, but even if Buffalo was undefeated that game would be hard to sell out.

Hard to demote him when he will be starting with Thompson if Benjamin cant go.
