Bad planning to hold your pro day on first day of the league year. IE the opening of FA. So stupid.

Eh. Losing out on Mccarron means nothing. Hard to say thats even the case. Who knows who the Bills are targeting. If Buffalo wants Rosen he can start week. Then they may go Derek Anderson or Matt Moore. Players have changed there mind before. Who is to say that one of those Qbs isnt signed and they are just going for a visit.

MCcarron, Anderson, and Mccown in that order. I really dont like Mccown. Mccarron is interesting and Anderson would be a very good backup and can play in spot duty if needed.
-
He is the best quarterback on the open market besides Cousins but because of injuries he will come at a third the price. He is a better quarterback than Taylor. If the rookie isnt ready Bradford can win games and lead the way. Whenever he gets hurt makes for a perfect transition to the rookie.

There is not an impact LB in FA. If im Buffalo I get a franchise Qb and impact LB in the draft. Those are the 2 things you dont find in FA.
-
Makes complete sense. Biggest need. One of the best players available. Had the best years of his career while playing under Mcdermott.
-
Unlikley, but if they pick at 12 and its not a Qb they could nab the top lb.

If healthy Bradford is best option outside if cousins.

The only way he has a long career in the NFL at GM is if he finds a franchise Qb. Both Mcdermott and Beane know that is the key sustained success and tenure. That has been the goal all along. Create cap flexability, and the ability to manuever anywhere in the draft to get not only a franchise Qb but building blocks of the franchise.

Of the scouts and talking heads I listen to and actually watching them play, I see this class as being at the level of 04. Imo 3 of the top 5 guys could become elite. Ofcourse some will bust. I think a starter or 2 could be developed out of the 2nd and 3rd day.
12 would put them in a position for Mayfiled or Jackson. I feel Darnold and Rosen are the cream of the class with Rosen being the most polished. The x factor is Allen. He has that Farve, Marino type of arm. He also could bust terrible. If im going all the way for the Qb im going for the most ready. To me that is Rosen.
-
He looks like Eli Manning and Matt Ryan coming out of college. He is the least likley to bust imo. Add weight the size is ideal. The other guys have much larger red flags.

There is a better chance its Allen than it is Mayfeild. Still think its either Darnold or Rosen. Allen is the x factor. By getting Taylor Cleveland may be ok with him starting a year while Allen adjusts.

It's difficult for me to watch the front office make all these incredible moves, and then somehow think it culminates with signing Kirk Cousins.
The moves have been 2 fold. They added picks but also cleared a ton of cap space. Right now Buffalo can go whichever way they prefer. If Cousins is their guy they now have the cap space to do what it would take. They would also have a tremendous amount of picks to improve the overall roster. Similar to what Philly did they can now get all the way to 1,2, or 3 for the QB they want.

This puts Buffalo in the drivers seat. They now have the cap space to make a run at any FA Qb. If Cousins signs with Buffalo, they could draft the best LB at 12 and a top DT at 22. On the other hand they could plug all the holes on the roster in FA during the draft get the top QB they covet and still have 4 or 5 picks in the top 3 rounds. Beane is looking like a stud.

So clearing cap space for a FA Qb or adding capital for a a draft day trade.
-
These are not bridge QBs these are all glorified babysitters for the young starting qb. They would be here to help him not compete. They would only play barring injury.
-
Little "buzz" to me is that he has enough red flags that makes him risky for a team to trade up for him. I think teams would draft him if he slid but the cost of moving into the top 5 or top 10 is so high that doing so for Mayfield would be too much of a gamble.
-
If they traded up for Rosen I think a back up like Matt Moore would make alot of sense. Rosen imo is the most pro ready QB. He would come in a be the starter. Moore is a career back up and would be a more willing player coach than other Qbs brought in to compete for the job.
-
Yes. They have to get a Franchise Qb. Something every GM Headcoach combo has not done since Bledsoe.
-
Darnold and Rosen both look like successfull NFL Qbs. I would try to get one of them.
-
The Bills are the dark horse of FA and for the draft. They have the ammo to make a splash move in either area. Buffalo has enough money from Pegula and enough cap space to make a run after any player they choose. Clearing Taylor off the books points to them going hard at both area. I expect Buffalo to be a sleeper for Cousin. Fit as well as money are major concerns for him. The Bills are the best situation besides Minnestota looking at coaching, organization and recent success. Then draft day depending on what happened in FA they could move to any position infront of them. I expect Buffalo to bring in a Vet and draft a Qb. How much is spent in FA determines how much draft capital will need to be spent.

Just to make everybodys head explode. Sign Cutler and draft Rosen.

I believe the rumors and rumbling of Buffalo having an eye for a Qb and are willing to go them is heightened by this move. The only other option would be trading for Luck or signing Cousins. I think they thought Taylor was a competent NFL starter. In the playoff game his limitations were on full display but he did get them there. Getting rid of Taylor for picks to me was always the plan. I also feel that they would not pull the trigger unless they were very confident they will land an upgrade over him.

Sign Keenum or Bradford and keep all the picks needed to move up for a QB in the draft. Trading for Foles would mean you are committing long term to him. I dont see how you trade for Foles and trade for a rookie QB. One of the top guys will not last til 21. With the way Foles performed on the filed for much of his career he looks like a sytem QB to me. I would not invest alot into him long term. He is fools gold.
This is what the Bills QB Board looks like imo

Based off them not getting a starting Qb at the start of Fa and looking like they are going to bring in a vetran career back up, that points to me that they are going for Rosen. MaybeDarnold or Mayfield. Allen and Jackson have the most upside but will need the most work and probable should sit for a year or so while they develop.
