So Keenum wouldnt lead us back in tbe 4th quarter of a playoff game. We need to draft a guy like Brees to win in the playoffs?

At what point do we say Antonio Brown is the GOAT?

10 time all pro. 10 not 5 seasons. Brown doesnt score tds like rice or have his yards per catch like prime rice. Rice has the most ridiculous records. Even now in a pass happy league rices numbers are still unobtainable. -

You must not have seen rice play or know how ridiculous his overall numbers are. -
I'll be first to ask: Would you fire Mike Tomlin?
Mat68 replied to Ennjay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No. I think both coordinators are on the hotseat. -
I think he would be able to build around Tyrods strengths. I think the Tyrod decision was already made when Mcdermott went to Peterman. I can see Buffalo holding on to Taylor until they find a better option.

I like it. Has the ability to build a scheme around players strengths. I feel comfortable with him and mcdermott devlopng a young qb.

16th scoring defense. A more efficent offense would improve the defense aswell. Bigger picture for me is that the team actually looks equipped to find and or develop a qb. This is not cleveland or a complete rebuild. This team reminds be a little bit of the steelers before Roethlisberger.

Buffalo has a fair amount of cap space and loads of draft picks. The team is not without faults but a Qb with potential and at minimum average play should allow Buffalo to play in this weekend next year and possibly beyond. For a change I am watching games and watching coaches and teams make mistakes the Bills would not.

Yes he looks pretty good but unless you are extremely athletic you dont fet away with that in the NFL. -
It is only the first half, but after Tennessee getting smacked by NE and Jacksonville running all over Pittsburgh my conclusion is that Buffalo's defense is good enough. Give Mcdermott and that defense a 21st century offense and Buffalo can become one of the best teams in the conference quickly.

I think Cleveland signs cousins to the first fully guaranteed contract 5 years 115 to 120 all guaranteed half up front. They have over 100 mil in cap space. They trade out of 1 for a ransom and they hope Barkley is there at 4. With later picks in the first rd they take a qb maybe mayfield to develop behind cousins and add some weapons outside. Depending on what Cleveland does in FA and Beane's relationship with Gettleman, I think Buffalo has a chance at either 1 or 2. As long as neither Beane or Mcdermott are put off by Rosen they will move mountains for a chance at either.

Accurate small Qbs without elite athletism or arm strength go day 3 of the draft. His ceiling is Keenum and its taken Keenum 5 years to work his way into a starter. Im not saying Mayfeild cant or wont be a successful Qb. What I am saying based off his physical limitations and coming from a spread offense he is going to take years to develop into a starter imo. -

Those guys all graded out off charts athletic for Qb. Mayfeild is not. Thats where im hesitant. -

Yes in the Big12 Baker made plays all over the field. Not being an above average athlete I dont see him having that kind of success outside the pcoket vs NFL defense. He is not going to run away from too many defenders if any in the NFL. -

Height. and thats it. Crazy to believe that he was considered too small. For Mayfield its more than just height for me. Can he make throws into tight coverage. Can he make throws in small windows. A bigger question for is is will be be able to buy time and make plays after the play breaks down. Wilson played and performed fantastically in a pro style offense at Wisconsin. They are not a Qb freindly team in terms of concepts and play design. Wilson's efficiency running that offense is nothing Wisconsin had seen before or after him. To me the hardest thing to gauge with Mayfield is will he be able to work inside the pocket and inside the confines of an NFL offense. I have serious doubts he can or if he does it will take time. As much time it took Brees. Every Qb has questions but while they are learning on the job who have the easiest routes for success. Arm talent or Athleticism or both allows for more growing pains because while they are learning they are going to do things from sheer talent alone. -

I dont have any problem with maturity of leadership from him. At the pro level leadership is aliitle over rated in my eyes. Can you make the throws on time or by time to hit your guys on big plays. Thats really it. Early on and going forward i think those are going to be big issues for Mayfield. Tight coverage, small window throws are going to difficault for him. The ability he shown to extend plays at oklahoma was from a pretty clean pocket. i dont see him being able to extend a play at the NFL level. -
To me if there is any doubt I feel they had to make the move. One way or another there is going to be a young Qb with loads of potential on the roster next year. You do not want to start changing Oc on young Qbs. Get a guy that can mold an offense around their strengths. Seems that was what Deenison had trouble doing with Taylor. If Jackson is the best Qb in the teams eyes which is not far fetch Dennison would seem to have no ability to create an offense around him.

As much as Mayfield supporters dont want the Manziel comparison I dont think the Russel Wilson comparison is close to accurate either. Wilson was a high draft pick in Baseball. He is an incredible athlete and his A level athletism is what allows him to evade the NFL rush and make plays with his legs. Mayfield is an average athlete at best and is not the dynamic runner like Wilson. The closet endoresment would be Brees but I will argue Brees is more athletic and the hardest thing to quantify is the work ethic. Brees is at the Brady level. Brees took 3 years before he looked like he could be a starter and 4 before he looked like a franchise Qb. The benefit of going second rd Brees was able to develop. If Mayfield goes early he will not be given the time to develop and I think the sooner he plays the worst he will be. He doesnt have an elite arm or athletism to fall back on and use to help him while he learns the NFL game. -

Im not a mayfield fan. If Buffalo drafted i would support him but wouldnt have high expectations. Only thing similar to Wilson is height imo. Maybe he is brees just as likely hes manziel. -
I would 100% feel more confident with Allen at Qb week 1 than I would with Baker Mayfield week 1. Allen has made more pro level passes in his bowl game than Mayfield made his whole career. Looking at a guy coming out with similar arm talent and surrounding casts. Farve, Marino and Cutler all have similar completition %. Its hard to compare his stats nowadays with so many spread qbs and offenses. Those qbs are not as accurate as their % says. They pass in bigger windows and are asked to make easier throws that are far and few between in the NFL. I like the moxy on the field of Allen and his ability to make throws no one else can. If Im a great coach I can teach him the nuances. I can't teach the positives that Allen has. He can pin point a skinny post over a linebaker, before the saftey and inside the corner.

This franchise has no ambition to win if they keep Dennison

its a passing league and we all know that there are huge plays left on the field this year. Last year When Taylor was making those plays its a little different. For whatever reason he was not able to make those plays. -
Lets see what Beane is made of. There are about 6 Qbs that have potential to go first rd. My order would be 1. Rosen 2. Darnold 3. Allen 4. jackson 5. Mayfield 6. Rudolph. Also, you have an intersting situation in Minnestoa. Bradford when healthy is very good. Keenum is playing out of his mind and everyone in Minnesota thought Bridgewater was the guy. Add in Cousins has put up consistent top 10 number the last 3 years and he will hit the open market. I will even add in what is going on with Luck? Cousins will cost the most money and Rosen, Darnold, and Allen will cost the most in terms of trade value. What way does Beane go. This year has some of the most Qb options than any year in recent memory. This is going to define the current regime they ge the right guy they get statues if they pick the wrong one they are gone. if they dont pick any they are gone sooner.

All-22 of Bills-Jags from Cover1
Mat68 replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its tough when you work on plays designed specifically to beat certain coverages. The kid from Alabama did something to win the game that I have never seen Taylor do. Cover 2 defense all goes with the inside man to the wide side run a post. By the book the pass goes to the in the inside man running the post. A true freshman 18 year old Qb stares down the traditional place the ball should go. Knowing all well the saftey knows the same thing hes going to catch him cheating and make the pass that theoretically the coverage takes away. He did it to perfection put the ball on the money and won the game. Late in the game vs Quarters coverage. jaguars go to coverage. Quarters meaning the outside corners and saftey each have the deepest guy in their quarter of the field. Taylor's tendency is to throw the ball over the middle short all year. Thompson outside runs a deep post. As the Te breaks over the middle both safties stop or slow there depth expecting the pass short. If Taylor rips it to the post the Bills score a Td. NFL teams self scout and know their own tendencies I would almost guarantee that play was called multiple times and the post is there. Taylor never adjusts and the Bills lose the game. -
You are paying him all the money and he hasnt really won anything in the NFL. Matthew Stafford and Carr will be bench marks but I would argue both those guys have way more potential. Cousins to me is who he is. He is kind of an enigma. Why wouldn't Washington commit long term? It would have cost them mush less money against the cap? Keenum reminds me an awful lot like Fitzpatrick. Those are both legitmate FA that will be expensive. Imo I would put money into the defense front 7 and make a move to the top 3 for a Qb.
