I think having a great work out in the rain sealed the deal for Cleveland picking Darnold. I don't see them moving out of #1. If the Bills love Darnold way above the others then why would you trade away all of our assets for pick #2? I say let the draft play out.  Maybe Allen or Mayfied fall down to pick #6 or #7. A trade up then would cost a whole lot less.

    Thats the most likely possibility.

If they want to take Allen anyways there's a very good chance he's there at 4. They would then also have the Bills 2x firsts, 2nd, 3rd. They could use the 2nd and 3rd to move back in to the first round and come away with 4 first round picks. If they are dumb enough to take Allen at 1 then at least be smart about it and collect more picks

I think the talke with Cleveland is the fact Beane and Gettleman want the same guy.  If that Qb goes 1 they would trade down.  Buffalo could trade to 1.  Cleveland could trade to 2 and give the giants 2 or 3 2nds. The Giants would than get Barkley, Chubb, or Nelson.  All very improbable but not impossible.  I think in the end Buffalo over pays for a QB b/c they have to.  Whether that is for pick 1,2,4, or 6,7,8,9.

A really bad example since Wilson was a third round pick.

No its not that its point.  They got Russell Wilson in the third.  If they knew he was going to be that good they would have trade up for him like Washington did for RG3.  Because Brees went the end of the first, Wilson went rd 3, and Brady was drafted in the 6th doesnt mean buffalo should target there franchise QB in the middle rounds.  The Seahawks gave Flynn a Brock Oswiller type deal and had Tavaris Jackson on a Tyrod Taylor type deal.  Wilson wasnt expected to play.  They got lucky.

Great, we give the NYG the potential foundation to turnover that roster,  to win a couple more Lombardi trophies, while we suffer with a Leaf, Smith, Russell or worse.  Dramatic I know, but look at the QB track record here.  not quite Cleveland, but that's not saying much.  I want to give a kid the best shot possible and not have to have them carry a team before they're ready.  What Carroll did with Wilson should be a blue print.  That whole team carried them in their SB runs.

I promise you Seattle would trade 3 firsts for Russel Wilson.  Comes down to who and what they want at Qb.  Personally, if I like a guy I would do that.  Buffalo still would have a 2nd and 3rd.  They also would have draft a caliber Qb with the potential that they have never had in my life time.

So, you move up, draft a QB with a very thin roster, and less then a stellar receiving group and a 29 yr old RB and an offensive line that's needs some fortification.

Then watch him fail to produce at the level of last years team, injuries occur and because we traded our draft capital we have diminished depth, finish 6-10 and in your scenario don't have our first pick in 2019.

Now, read my assessment and tell me the how yours will lead to improvement in 2018.

You get a linebaker in rd 2 and a speed wr rd 3.  The rest of the picks fill out the roster.  QB is more important than any other hole.

I could see the draft starting out with a QB frenzy:

    1)      Cleveland – Darnold

    2)      Giants -  S Barkley

    3)      Jets – Rosen

    4)      Arizona – Mayfield

    5)      Denver – Allen

Then we can take the best ILB available at 12 and then grab Mason Rudolph at 22.

    Let's Go Buffalo!!!!!

With the amount of picks Buffalo can and will throw at NYG imo there is no way you stay at 2 unless you pick a Qb.  IMO Buffalo will throw 3 first a second and third.  You dont turn that down for a RB or DE.  The only way they stay at 2 is if they want the Qb that is on the board.  With Beane and Gettlemans connection I worry that they target the same guy.  NYG could still get Davenport at 12 and Giese at 22 fill 2 needs and adding 2 more picks this year and a first next year they can use on Mannings replacement when fewer teams are in the market.  Buffalo worries about perception and I dont believe they make NYG the 3 first offer until they know who will be there at 2.  During the owners meeting I think they will have a strong Idea into what Cleveland will do and they will at that point make the offer to the Giants.  That allows the Giants to set up their board and figure out who they are targeting, with their 2 first, second, and third rounders.

  7. The draft is about value.  A solid starting Qb is more valuable to a team than another position by a wide margin.  If you redo the the 2016 draft Zeke doesnt go 1, 2,, or 3.  The draft would go Wentz, Geoff, and Preskott.  Brooks is wrong and is just trying to give the draftknicks a break because it is so hard to determine what QB will improve in the NFL and which ones cant.  Its easy to watch Barkley run and see barring an injury he will be special.  Watching Bradley Chubb dominating the LOS and wrecking havoc in the backfield that he will be good on the edge in the NFL.  Determining out of Allen, Rosen, DArnold, Mayfield, and Jackson who will have the best career?  Goodluck with that.  But whatever team gets the best one will have the most success that is why they go high.

Everyone knew he'd have a good pro day & combine before either happened!

It's rarer for a QB to NOT have a good pro day than to have one, considering they control & setup all the entire event. It's all a well choreographed show, and not even close to representative of being in-game.

On the field, he's nowhere close to that good.

Why don't you go back & look at what teams are in his division, and who he played against.

Here's a hint, the other teams in his conference had the same types of players on their roster too, yet he still couldn't beat them or put up monster numbers!

When all your competition has the same level of players, your excuse can't be "I have nobody around me to work with, that's why I'm bad!" The response to that is "well so did everyone else!"

To be completely fair here, Wyoming was and has been a cellar dweller of the NCAA and mountain West.  The first time in 30 years Wyoming made back to back bowl games was the 2 years Allen was the starting QB.  Hes a polarizing prospect.  Some believe he has fatal flaws that will never allow him to be a good QB in the NFL.  Some people see a raw young to football prospect that with coaching and proper technique could become special.  Personally, I am a risk taker.  The ceiling of Allen would intrigue me.  If I was a coach I would be cocky maybe arrogant enough in my own ability that I would be able to coach him to an ability to get all that potential out of him.   You have to be naive notto believe that when NFL coaches and minds watch him throw they all believe they are 1 who could get him to meet his potential.

Comparing college QB production from the early 80s to today is not smart.

In 1982, ONE college QB passed for more than 3,500 yards.

In 2017, NINETEEN guys did it.

I get it.  People in NFL see that kind of arm.  If he goes top 5 that is why  He has a high probabilty of busting.  If he doesnt hes incredible.  He is 50/50 great subpar.  His ceiling is what I said.  Because his probabilty of Busting i wont trade up for him, i do understand why a team would take a chance on him.

    Allen can be Marino?

Wow, please step away from the computer.

Marino and Farve in an arm talent and 3 years of college exp are the outliers why he is going top 10 5.  You may not think he has a special arm.  Again, jeff george would be a bust as well.  So idk what made you so upset, but before his senior year Mario was sup 60% as well.

  11. Hes going to be Jeff Goerge or Farve, Marino.  Hes unique in the way that Joel Embid has not play basketball that long but can do things most guys cant.  Allen wasnt an elite 11 recruite.  He was playing baseball.   Now that he is with Qb coach, same one as Darnold, he has improved his footwork in a way your mind wanders to what will he look like in 12 months with NFL coaching, training, and talent around him.  If he has the fortitude and the drive he could be great.  He could be ehhhh.. with that arm ehhhhhh is a 10 year career starting and back up.

I'm hoping they get up to #2 to get Rosen.

I would like that.  IMO he wants Darnold the one guy he has no link to.  Allen may go 1.  If Darnold is there Beane pays.  Obviously, their is concern on Beanes part about who will be at 2.  They have the capital, but Beane wont trade til he knows his guy will be there.  He may contact cleveland about 4 and gain info at who they take at 1.  If their guy is there they may complete it at the owners meeting.  I think NYGs intrest in Darnold is hype.  He wants to rebuild the giants like Beane rebuolds the Bills.  If their is no trade Gettleman and Beane want the same guy.  That happens Beane goes after Jackson and keeps 90% of their picks.

Ok so Buddy put the Bills back on track by going 16-32 over three season?  Explain how three losing season puts the team back on track, when they failed the make the playoffs with a team that had few hold overs from the Nix era.

As far as Mario - yes the numbers were good.  But can you name me one memorable game where Mario completely took over and made the play of the game?  You really can’t.  In comparison I can name multiple games with JJ Watt or even a Khalil Mack has.

Also take a look at the Bills defenses with Mario on the team.  They basically had one good year in 2014, right after Buddy left.  That’s why I don’t think he was worth that huge deal Buddy signed him to.

Who’s living in a fantasy world now, Chester?

Well according to @GunnerBill the Bills didn’t need a player like Mack because Mario Williams was such a difference maker

No Mack and Williams is imposing.  3rd down move Mario insiden and have hughes and mack off the edge.  Gunner is a probably a cool smart guy.  Whaley stays at 10 drafts Beckham or trades up for Mack he is still employed.

  14. Whaley was better in every way.  He couldnt find a franchise qb but made the roster 100% better.  His down fall was inhertiting Ej  2014 sammy trade.  ODB Jr was picked later and best wr in the draft.  Him landry and allen robinson were all more prolific than sammy.  That was a mistake or take Mack the best player in the draft and from their back yard.

  15. Shows a good coach can do in the NFL.  Made the playoffs and traded the best Wr on the roster, starting Cb, and former All Pro Dt.  They were old and in cap trouble.  Beane cleaned the slate and has a bunch of picks.  Idk what you consider tanking but trading players that currently contribute for cap releif and future picks would fall under that umbrella.

Looking at the way the draft is lining up, I am curious to see this organizations approach.  I think to get any of Darnold, Rosen, Allen, Mayfield or Jackson Buffalo will need to trade up.  Comes down to the difference of Jackson and who will be at 2.  I do not think it will be massive.  Not 3 first rders massive.  I think Beane trades to 6,7,8 range get Jackson and keeps 22.

If Peguala forces the issues for someone at 2 I think a Buffalo will pay a big price to move.  The million dollar question is will NYG think a Qb is worth 3 first rders and a 2nd and 3rd. Thats what Buffalos 12th hr offer will be if they want to move.  I think Buffalo will want Allen or Darnold and will pay to land them.  Option 2 is Jackson for a third the price.  Swap picks and 65.

  16. My best guess is 12,22,56,65 2019 1st rd pick.  Maybe flip our 5th rder for their 4th.  Imo 3 1s will be the price and thats an offer NYG cant say no to that.  Its hefty and substantial.  Beane is going to take his time deciding is there qb at 2 better than 1 at 4 or 6 plus considering the price moving to 2, 4, 6 plus.  With the blantant disregard for the FA class they need to make splash and go get a Qb.
