  1. They bust at lower rate than Qbs taken in every other rd combined.
  2. I disagree. Eagles, Rams and Texans seem to have found franchise Qbs. So if the best prospects are going top 10 why wouldnt you use some of the assests gained to get one of those guys? Its not the Saints or Vikings trading the farm for 1 player. Buffalo could move up by packaging 21,22 and the 2nd from La to get a caliber and potenial at Qb that Buffalo has not had since Kelly. That may seem steep to you but that still leave Buffalo with a full compliment of picks for 2018 and 2019. Getting a franchise Qb should be the top focus this off season.
  3. Interesing debate but TD was first team all pro 3 times vs 1. Terrell Davis was more dominate than Craig. Believe a knee injury derailed his career. But he is in the hall the same way Gale Sawyers is.. Their best games and season were best ever category.
  4. If he doesnt show improvement in TC he will not make the final roster.
  5. Agreed. Its typical Fa speak. Mario Williams and Suh said the same thing when he entered FA. Imo The only way he sign with us or Denver is if his market isnt as hot as he thought or all his offers around 25 mil a year.
  6. Imo it is no less risky than paying Cousins 125 mil. He hasn't won but put up big numbers. It is high possible that Cousin never lives up to contract like the majority of the high priced FA.
  7. I want to trade up for a Qb. I want an adequate Qb who is a better passer than Taylor at Qb. Im hoping that they are the backup or play at a level the rookie cant beat them out. Bradford has the highest probability of being the later and if in week 3 or 4 Bradford goes down the rookie comes in and never looks back. That is Ideal imo. I mean be aggressive go get him on opening day of Fa offer him a little more than Taylor and starting spot on the roster. The rook beats him out thats on him. Im not massively over paying and I think Bradford knows his injuries hurts his market.
  8. As a Qb id prefer Bradford. His injury history is what it is. Also, the last few years when healthy he showed to be an above average Qb and healthy today is a better Qb than Taylor. I think that Bradford should be the target. Buffalo could sign Bradford and a starting DT for much less than the price tag for Cousin. Im for Buffalo using the Fa period to bring in guys to compete for spots at each of the weakness or holes on the roster. Use the Draft to get a Qb you think could become a Franchise Qb and spend the second and third round picks to find a starter or day 1 sub package starter on offense and defense. I think that is the best option Buffalo could go. Im not saying I wouldn't reach out to Cousins but if he wants 25 mil plus a year and a massive guarantee like I expect him to want I would move on to the next guy on my list. With Cousins being the hot commodity playing the averages and making a move for Bradford or which ever Qb they like first may be the smart move so you are not stuck with out a Qb when it all said and done. Id prefer Bridgewater but Imo he seems to be Zimmers guy. There was talk he would be the starter this year but Keenum went a run and didnt give Bridgewater a chance. I think the Op is using the logic that Minny keeps 2 and those two most likley are Keenum and Bridgewater.
  9. Right but I am not advocating going Redskins and spending a bunch of money and high priced FA. I look at what they did last year to sure up the secondary with a little more to spend this year Im looking for a similar approach to Dline and Linebaker. I expect a DT to be the equivalent to Hyde. Maybe not a household name and not a top 5 contract for the position. The way last season was handled with an emphasis on the front 7 instead of the back 4 and possible deap threat WR ie john Brown or Paul Richardson. Going all in on Cousins is overpaying and paying a premium for a guy who more likely than not will not match the production that contract would carry. Imo signing Cousins Buffalo is going almost full rebuild by relying on a significant amount of rookies and first year players. Even by trading up they will still be in position in round 2 and 3 to go BPA and add possibly an athletic linebaker, deep threat wr, Olineman, or dlineman. For alot less money they could go with which ever Qb leaves the Vikings, i think Buffalo would go hard at Bradford. Other possibilities would Macarron, Bortles, Alex smith all to compete with the rookie. Or the nightmare to many keeping Taylor. Cousin is going eat up a large amount of cap space and I do not think going rookie to fill every hole is the answer. IMO go after mid-level FA and young players with potential in FA to fill up the holes and draft impact players.
  10. Im on the other side. Who ever pays him highest guaranteed contract is the team he signs with. Sure with in a few mil he will go to the best team and fit. If Cleveland offers 100 mil guaranteed and a total of 125 or 130 hes a Brown.
  11. It comes down to philosophy to me. By signing Cousins you are filling the biggest need of the franchise through FA. You are going to sign him to a premium contract. You are going to be paying him more than the Elite Qbs are making. By doing so every hole on the team DT, 3 LBs, CB, Oline and Wr are going to be filled by a rookie going into next year. You may be able to get an old vetran at 1 or 2 of those positions but going into the 2018 season you are looking at starting 6 to 7 rookies. I know building through the draft is important but to me that is too much. This past year shows that there needs to be good balance and good competition. By not signing Cousins you can pretty much sign a starter in FA at each group listed including QB. The biggest contract handed out imo should be DT that is second largest hole to Qb. With Buffalo abundance of draft picks I realisticly believe Buffalo can move up on draft day and pay a high price. The actual number of picks im not sure of but it will be significant. Still what ever trade will still leave the Bills with 6 or 7 picks this year. After getting the first franchise Qb potential Qb since Kelly they will still have the ability to add 2 or 3 day 1 contributors. By filling holes in Fa they will not be desperate to find 4 to 5 starters but 1 or 2 starters and 3 to 4 depth players. Building a balanced and disciplined football you need a good balance of veteran leadership and young athleticism. The best success is to fill as many holes as you can in Fa. Look to add 2 impact players in the draft and allow time to develop the rest of the picks.
  12. No team works that way. With how inept Cleveland looks and is percieved it would look like they are scared to pick the wrong guy. Worst not good enough at their jobs to evaluate which QB will fit best in their system. Neither is a good perception for your first year. Its not a randsom. Its the reason you trade Darby and Watkins in traing camp. Get the ammunitions to get a Franchise Qb. You are not going to outbid anyone in FA and a good one isnt falling to 21. Use the cap space to sure up the defense and add speed at Wr. Get a Franchise Qb and 2 other day 1 contributors.
  13. That makes 0 sense. If you are going to draft a qb @ 4 take the one you want at 1. Im a big PSU and Barkley fan, but QB is more important and harder to find. If Buffalo doest draft a Qb they best traded for Luck or signed Cousins.
  14. Probably the richest Qb draft in some time. Buffalo has the most picks they have ever had. Move up get a top qb. Stil have a 2nd and 3rd to find two other positional starters. Buffalo cant keep punting on qbs. There are drafts when there are no clear first rd talents. This year there is 4. Buffalo needs to do what it takes to get one.
  15. In terms of last year. You are not picking a Qb in the first with a lame duck GM.
  16. Lawson was not worth his position where he was drafted, add in he had bad shoulder it is really a baffling selection. I think Beane would move him if a better pass rusher was brought in during Fa. He is a fine 1st down 2 down DE, I would expect him to be sub out and Lorax subed in on third downs. Whaley was a very good pro personal guy. I dont think he ever meshed with what his coaches wanted in terms of college athletes.
  17. Had the worst half of Qb football ever. He throws a td in the snow now hes the future? The Jacksonville situation showed he has not learned from his mistakes. He threw the same ball late to the far side vs Sandiego and the result was the same. Taylor is most likley gone. A vetran and a rookie are coming in. First offseason with new scouting and pro personal. Peterman is going to force Buffalo to keep 3 qbs or he is gone.
  18. Yes Peyton Manning threw picks so did many others. At no point did Manning look like he didnt belonged.
  19. Has any all-pro Qb ever have such disastrous results in meaningful football to start their career? The great Qbs show themselves pretty quickly and clearly when they enter games. Nathan Peterman is going to battle for a roster spot this offseason that is the reality of the situation. There is a 0% chance Peterman is the opening day starter.
  20. Marino and Farve are also the outliers. Neither passed for over 60% in college.
  21. This is the talk out of both sides of you mouth time of year. They will not show there hand. QB is the a top priority so if they really want a Qb they will have to go get one. Allen, Rosen, Darnold are not going to fall to 21.
  22. That one is on Obrien. He pulled the starter of halftime of the first game. Wataon should have been the starter. But really with Qbs you know what ya got from the first handful of games. Can you handle adversity? Win games you shouldnt? Move your team consistently. .
  23. 100% You are forced to pay them. Stafford, Tannehil, and Dalton are all examples as well. Buffalo is not forced to sign Cousins. Flacco had a great year when he won the Superbowl. He carried them into the Superbowl. Bortles has put up big numbers in the league. So i think they are comparable. They are in the next teir of Qbs. Cousins is not Brady, Brees, Rodgers. He is also not Wilson, Big Ben, Rivers and Ryan. Then the young guys like Wentz, Geoff, Prescott, and Watson have loads of potential. I put Cousins in with Dalton, Stafford, Flacco, Manning, and Tannehill. Do you want to pay Cousins as much or probably more than everyone I just said? I do not. 5 Years from now a Qb that was drafted here I think you have to sign him if he is in that range. I dont think Cousins is ever going to be in the conversation with Big Ben and Ryan.
  24. Imo the NFL has a hard time paying a guy that isnt physically impressive or a "Winner". With Mario and Daures they were physical marvels for their size and quickness plus they had a few years of top production. Is Cousins in year 5 going to better than Cousins the last 3 years? Its the chicken or the egg. Yes the Eagles, Jaguars, and Vikings made the conference Championship game with middle QBs. Bortles is still on his rookie deal, For the eagles and Vikins you can add up all of there Qbs respectively and you are sill much less than the cap hit would be for Cousins. By not paying top flight money on QB they were able to build up their rosters to an elite level. Cousins could win a Superbowl on any of those teams but after a year or two they will end up like Baltimore. Flawed roster over priced Qb that fight to slip into the playoffs because they will not be able to bring in FA to sure up the roster. If you are Buffalo you do not have a top flight roster or a Qb so you are stuck in the middle. Draft a Qb get a middle backup and use the money in FA to sure up soft spots on the roster and draft a few guys that can develop into strengths. Because of the way his teams were imo after they got a lead they went conservative. The bowl game is a big example first quarter he had 150 yards 3 tds. After that he only passed on 3rd down for much of game and they ran out the clock. The struggles vs Iowa and Oregon are not that massive to me. He made some great throws his wr had 0 seperation and 0 yards after the catch. Idc who or what qb you are if your wrs cant get open and the line is not giving you much time you are not going to will your offense to win.
  25. Prolific production in College isnt translatable to the NFL either. He didnt have a skill player on the roster this past year that will make it to the NFL. I like his potential that is the part that makes him go sooner is the QB he is today is not the Qb you expect him to be.
