Jets just traded with Colts for #3 pick in first round

No reason for Cleveland to do that. If Buffalo trade to 2 and the jets at 3 Barkley will be there at 4. -

They dont have the fire power for 2. They went as far as they could go. Until proven other wise I believe Beane has an agreement in place with Gettleman if his Qb is there. Something the Jets couldn't beat or they would be at 2 today not 3. -
I think It comes down to who the Bills have targeted and will they be there at 2. No reason to pull the trigger untill you are certain of the intentions of cleveland. With the trade for Taylor maybe they go Allen and Buffalo wants Darnold. It is hard to tell. Maybe they want Rosen but think in the end Cleveland will take him. If you are going to pay the price to move up you better be sure your guy will be there. Trading to 3 ensures nothing.

I do not know why you would trade to 3rd 6 weeks out. The jets are making desperate moves. I am not sure they even have a Qb in mind they just want one. Buffalo has to assume Darnold or Allen is 1. No reason to move to 2 until you know your QB will be there. -
Comes down to Cleveland which I think wont trade because they need a Qb. Gettleman I believe will trade but will be costly. 12-22-56 next years 1st and probaly a mid rder. I know Buffalo has an eye for a Qb. If its Jackson they are probably safe, if its any of the there others they will need to move way up. Interesting times. Beane said he wasn't comfortable with any of the prospects yet. Lets see how true that is.

Imo 3 was always fools gold. NYG now has the leverage. It will take nothing short than 3 firsts and 65. I dont think Beane wanted to do that if he didnt have to. Imo now he has to. But he also knows he needs to leap frog The jets and Broncos. The giants will walk away with a kings ransom now and Beane has to make the move if he covets one of those guys. -
Watch UCLA vs USC from this past year. UCLA lost but Rosen was the best Qb on the field.

I think Buffalo will sign 1 or 2 vetran bakers with speed but not alot of starting experience to compete for a spot similar to last year. I think they draft 2 early I could see 2 of the top 3 picks a LB.
-
I agree. Mayfiled, Allen, and Jackson I would not trade up into the top 5 for. To ensure you get one of them I could see flipping a 2nd for a 3rd but to burn 2 firsts on any of them would be to rich for me.

Bills GM: Not certain we move up to take QB
Mat68 replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pre draft speak. They were keeping Taylor until a better player was on the roster. Trade Taylor for a the 65th pick. Not going to be busy during Fa concentrate on the draft. Spent 80 mil on 2 d lineman. He is not going to show his hand. He will be happy picking at 12 until the deal they want comes about to move up into the top 5. Buffalo having 12 and 22 is a better conversation starter than any other QB needy team can offer. Add in 2 seconds and 2 thirds this year Buffalo hold all the cards. I assume they want to spend 12-22-65 and a mid rounder in 19. Once that gets it done they will pull the trigger. -
Josh Rosen: will he want to play here? ESPN discusses
Mat68 replied to K D's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Two years ago he would be right. With that playoff drought anvil around their neck Buffalo would not have been a promising destination. Now freshly off a playoff berth with subpar Qb play they are a legitimate contender in a conference where the traditional powers are aging. If Buffalo can get the QB right they will be in position to contend for a long time. Listening to Rosen when asked about cold weather he said it reminds him of family because he would spend the holidays at his grandmothers in the NE. Listening to his press conference at the combine he would be fine in Buffalo. After the season til the spring he doesn't have to stay in Buffalo. -
The NFL is structured to protect the QB inside the pocket more so than college. But at the same time you know what you are getting. If he doesnt get hurt he most likely will have a very good career. Anyone can get hurt in the NFL so thats not really an issue for me. The cost of moving up would be 12-22 and some combination of 2 or 3 and mid rd picks. With that price I think Rosen has the least weakness and adding some weight I would not be worried about his durability. Rosen has the as similar frame to alot of successful Qbs Mannings, Rayn, and Geoff to name a few. He is only 21 has room to grow and has the best footwork and mechanics than any Qb in the draft. I could see them targeting any of the top 5 but for me if Im going all the way up I would be targeting Rosen.
-
I think Mayfield is just as risky a prospect as Allen for completely different reasons. If I trade into the top 5 it would be for Rosen or Darnold. I could see them moving up to 9 for Mayfield or Allen. Out of all the Qbs projected to go in the 1st rd I am unsure what I would be getting with Mayfield. The cost of moving up to the top 5 would be substantial enough to where I would want the surest thing. To me that is Rosen or Darnold.

Playoff team last year, I think he would be delighted about it. Only has to live in Buffalo half the year. We are a better situation then anyone in the top 10. -
Josh Allen one of the most overrated QB prospects this decade
Mat68 replied to Yeezus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The superstar potential is why he will go top 10. He needs to go somewhere that will let him sit a year. -
Rosen does well today. How could he not its his pro day, I expect Buffalo to lock up a top pick during the owners meeting. When the Eagles and Rams moved it was fairly early on in the process. Once there minds where made up it happened quick. Comes down to what they feel comfortable with spending.

Go to 1 or 2 if you have a guy your dead set on. It will be costly but they have plenty to offer. The sooner you do it you can than concentrate on the rest of the draft. If the price is right the other team can than work on how their draft works.

Rookie QB starting vs sitting. Does it matter?
Mat68 replied to Zerovoltz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Mahomes plays well whats the data say about that? Who to say he wouldnt have looked like Kizer? Granted Kizer didnt have the players around him KC does. Some guys are better prepared to play learning the position and how its done at the NFL then winging it on the Fly. The KC Chief would not have gone as far or been as successful with Mahomes playing qb. -
They trade up for their Qb. Bottom part of rd 1 Buffalo moves up for a linebaker. Those are the biggest needs. Both filled with big time players on the first night.

Checker vs chess. The Jets signing Mccown and Bridgewater after missing out on Cousins checkers. Waiting for the market to shrink and getting a guy 50 cents on the dollar compared to like deals is chess. Still can fill needs of the team through FA still have a crest of picks to get your guys in the draft chess.

Browns offered a 2nd and 3rd round pick for McCarron

They made a trade because after 0-16 what qb is freely going there? -

They should play when they are ready. You dont want to force the rookie on the feild. When they are the best Qb on the team they play. Mccarron adds a bit of a competion element and also time to let the rookie adjust. I expect whoever is drafted if Buffalo trades up will surpass Mccarron some point during the rookie season. When? Idk could be OTAs could be TC could be mid season. Heck maybe Mccarron comes out of nowhere and kills it like Jon Kitna when Palmer was a rookie.
