Very simple, the last time Wyoming was bowl eligible in back to back seasons prior to the 2 seasons Josh Allen quarterbacked was 88 89 season. They are a bottom feeder program in the Mountain West Conference and ranked in 120's in NCAA rank prior to the 2016 season. His Sophomore season the majority of the offense were Seniors and he put up good numbers. Wyoming does not recruit well so they rely on players getting on the field and improving before they would at other schools. This past year he played with mainly Sophomores and it has showed. However, the offense he played in did not help him as a passer in regards to his passing efficiency. He played in an offense out of the mid 90s to early 2000's big ten. Not much creativity and alot of the big plays were on Allen to make with his arm and ability. He has the most impressive tape by having the most NFL caliber throws. There is no doubt if he can translate to an NFL offense because he has made the prerequisite passes already. Imo a lot of his accuracy issues is when he tries too much. With his arm strength he would attempt throws from horrible platforms. He could be Kyle Boller but the game has changed so much since then. If he continues to utilize a personal Qb coach and improves his mechanics to a point where its automatic sky is the limit. High end his ceiling is Brett Farve. I see him very similar in terms of football IQ and natural ability. He will throw interceptions because of his arm will get him into trouble at times. Low end jeff george. If he does not master the mechanics of throwing his accuracy concern will pop up through his career. Imo if he doesn't develop a substance abuse problem he will have a long career do to his immense ability and athleticism, but a what if story. With the level of Qbs in the NFL at worst he will be on a roster for as long as he wants to play similar to Jeff George.

I disagree. Leaks this time of year is to increase the take imo. If they wanted Darnold why let Cleveland know? They may think he falls to 4... Imo Gettleman knows Beane enough to know his guy. Imo its 12,22,53,65 and 2019 2nd. What the rumor is Beane already offered. Gettleman wants 2019 1st. I wont be surprised that happpens but expect the giants 3rd and a 2019 4th to off set it. January, everyone would be estatic if Buffalo gets the pick of Darnold or Rosen. I fimrly believe that is the case. Im torn. Rosens injury history concens me, so does Darnolds fumbles and ints. Fun times. Either guy is the best Qb prospect Buffalo has ever had.

The Bills have never picked a Qb in the top 10 in the franchises history. The 5th rated qb this year will be higher rated than the top Qb next year. They collected the extra, first, extra second, extra third to go get the one they want. That is what needs to happen. Rounds 2 and 3 get a pass catcher and linebaker, than fill out the roster with whats left. There are literly 5 Qbs rated higher than Ej was. Maybe 6 depends how you feel about Rudolph.

USC EDGE Uchenna Nwosu visiting Bills

I think thats his position to be honest. Kinda poor mans Barr or Reddick. I think he would be a SAM. More an athlete than natural pass rusher. Highschool saftey so he has range. -

I see him similar to Anthony Barr. i think you stand him up and he is a sam in a 4-3 -
Buffalo needs, not wants in the draft

How is Qb below Lb, guard, and a complimentary Wr? How? After last year I want no part of Peterman on the field. McCarron is a career back who has not showed that he is anything more than that. In my eyes Qb is by far the most glaring need. Yes, Lb and Wr are a need. They can be filled in rds 2 and 3. I think a linebaker many are high on will be available in Rd 2 and they can find a complimentary Wr in rd 3 or later same with the remaining depth concerns. Go where the the best players are a, 90 plus rated Qb prospect is the highest ranked players on the board especially for a team that doesn't have a starting Qb. Who is to say Roquan Smith isnt Aaron Curry? He was cant miss top 5, the saftest player in the draft. Look at the Browns. The past 20 years since they drafted Tim Couch they picked the safer player first than the Qb at 22.. That has never worked out in their favor. -
They have holes. IMO the largest holes are still QB, Linebaker, Wr , than Depth on the oline, linbaker, and secondary. Top priority has to be QB. Last year Mcdermott showed he is an adequate game day coach that can win games he shouldn't and have his team ready and prepared. Even with Mccarron playing 16 games I think Buffalo still wins 7 or more games. If that happens Buffalo is sitting right where they are now but without 22,56, and 65th picks. Next year there will not be 5 Qbs rated 90 or higher in terms of quality prospects. Buffalo must use their created pick surplus to move them into position to obtain one of those prospects. The higher rated the better, Bufflao has never drafted a high quality prospect at Qb in over 35 years. They never drafted a qb inside of the top 10 picks in the franchises history. I would offer 12,22,56,65 and 2019 1st for 2. Get Rosen who imo is the most pro ready. Use the second and third to find 2 positional starters, and the remaining picks fill the depth. Maybe they can get Rosen at 4 or later but that would be taking on a large risk, he could end up in the division at the Jets. Of the Qbs whoever they value highly this need to be the mindset. Next year Buffalo has tremendous cap space and can really add players to the roster to move them into a perennial contender if they have a Qb that looks like a Franchise guy. if that happens they will attract better players on the outside. Build your foundation through the draft, that foundation is a franchise Qb.

Agree, but i don't think Hasslam is risk averse. Imo Wentz sits in his mind today. He does not want to make that mistake twice. Both Darnold and Allen should sit a year. Its not a surprise that Allen could go one. If Darnold was as polished as Rosen sure, but Darnold is not as clean a prospect as the media perceives him to be. With the age of the QB pool Imo you are going to see QBs drafted on potenial in a more of a NBA way than the NFL has normally operated. They are not drafting 20-21 year old Qbs on what they were in January but what they think they will be in next year and the year following.

He took Mahomes over Watson and Newton over Gabbert (which was actually thing back in that draft). It is def a possibility. Allen has made more NFL throws than Darnold this past year. Darnold led the NCAA in turnovers. Allen's Oregon and Iowa games are on par with Darnold's performance vs Ohio St. They are much closer than some talking heads would have you believe. I 100% believe Allen is in consideration and wont be surprised that he goes 1. If both guys reach their potential who end up being better? Do I think Darnold has a higher probability of being successful? I do but I also see Allen as a bit of a unicorn who with proper coaching could be special. Ive said this for a while now. Do not forget how arrogant coaches are. They all believe they are the best and will be able to get all that potential out of him. Yes, to stash a guy and let them learn, possibly developing to a future replacement or trade-able asset. However, that is not the first place you go to find a starter. That is what you do after you have one. right now Buffalo does not have one. Even Russell Wilson wasn't suppose to start. Seatlle gave Flynn a massive deal and expected him to be the starter.

Will the 2018 Bills be better then the 2017 Bills???
Mat68 replied to Scorp83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the QB position improves from last year to this year yes. -
In the age of spread offenses, o step drops, and quick screens, Allen played his college career without any of that. Allen is obviously a risk. If he is able to sit and develop he can be special. Cleveland traded for Taylor so they can compete this year. Whoever they pick will have a difficult time beating out Taylor because of everything he bring to the team. Allen has made the most pro level throws and has the most impressive tape than any other prospects. He makes 3 to 4 throws a game only 1 or 2 Qbs in the NFL could make. That is what is going to get him drafted and early. The NFL is filled with cocky/ arrogant coaches and they all believe they are the guys who can get all that potential out of him. For Allen this is where having an agent paid off. Without getting coached by a team he already started working on his inconsistencies that lead to inaccuracy. Apparently, he is a smart kid who knows football and killed the interviews. Reason I bring up the agents and off the field stuff with him is because I believe Allen and Jackson have the most potential. Seems like Allen is willing and listening to the right people that are putting him in position to reach his potential. With Jackson I am highly concerned. If he went to a combine prep academy and hitched onto a QB guru to fix some of his short coming he would have the hype of Allen but with superior production. He would have been a no doubter. The only things about Jackson since Christmas has been negative. Any Qb or first rd pick is risky. Picking #1 who has the most ability to become great? Allen is in that conversation.

PURE SPECULATION: Is Beane Forcing Jackson Onto McDermott?
Mat68 replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jackson turned himself into an enigma. If he was in consideration in January I dont believe he is the preferred option at this point. Since the combine they traded Taylor for a third and moved up to 12. They signed AJ McCarron to a modest deal. Looks like a prove it deal more likley a back up deal. So they are left with him and Nate as the only Qbs. No other team in the NFL has as large of a glarring need for a Qb. I assume they target the most pro ready which is Rosen, possibly Darnold. -
Baker Mayfield and Johnny Manziel
Mat68 replied to PrimeTime101's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Both are cocky, short, white Qbs from Texas. Both made news by getting into trouble at another University before there final seasons. Both played in a spread offense and would run around to make plays. Neither tested out as premier athletes. Manziel in the end had an addiction problem. That was accelerated by not being able to start for a poor football team. Mayfield has good qualities but ingoring the similarities to Manziel is not wise either. -
I cannot see a scenerio where NYG stays at 2 for anything other than qb. Is Barkley better 3 other first rd picks for a team with a lot of holes? 12 and 22 they can get oline and which ever rb they rate 2. I think Darnold is who Buffalo rates 1. Hes there at 2 Buffalo and NYG trade. I dont see Buffalo risking the Qb they covet going to the Jets.
-
I like Rosen and think he can walk in and be the starter day 1. I think Gettlman and Beane will have the Qbs broken down in a similar fashion. NYG may just be leveraging Buffalo to pull the trigger.

I have not played top collegiate football or basketball so I can only go off a player who has lived it. His perception and experience is more viable and relevant to me than a SEC media guide. Multi Billion dollar business model artificially design to keep the money in the pockets of a few over the individuals that create the product themselves. Ballsy for a 21 year old to throw some shade at it. An entitled rich kid doesn't show empathy for less fortunate teammates. Being smart is not red flag to me.

Those Qbs highlighted were not expected to play early or compete for the starting position. Buffalo has a 5th rder who played horrible his rookie year and a career back up. Any qb drafted will be the most talented QB on the roster and expected to play early. Extremely risky and probably stupid to assume you are smarter than 32 other franchises to rate a 6-10 rated QB in this class a franchise Qb.
