I did too. Happy we got the McDerminator though.

Crazy they are firing him too. Sherman, Kam missed significant time, and Earl missed a cpl games.

Rumor is Kam may be forced to retire and wouldnt be surprised if Sherman is traded.  They have alot personalites paid well and are getting older and less impactful.

Comparing a 7 year veteran with a rookie with 1 start.  Very Hot take.

Taylor was benched because he was not very productive.  My point is it is not like Peterman had to beat out Brees, Brady, or Rodgers here.  The level of competency they where hoping to see out of Peterman was not a very high bar to clear.  Peterman came up extremely short of that bar.  Going forward he is not part of the quarterback decussion or future plans reguarding the starting spot.  He had multiple oppurtunities to earn the job and he failed to do so in a way that his place on the roster will be questioned.

  3. He at no point showed that he is ready or capable of handling meaningful snaps in the NFL.  I get it he is your guy, but he is making the same mistakes over, and over again.  Franchise Qbs dont wet themselves repeatedly their rookie season than meracilusly become great.  You got it or you dont.  He doesnt got it.  A completely average qb out played him by a wide margin.

    Here's the thing.

If you really want a franchise QB, now's the time to do it. Smith has proven he isn't a franchise QB, so trading for him isn't the long-term answer. You either grab one in FA (Cousins is about as close as you can get to that), or you grab one in the draft.

If you're not sold on Cousins, then this is your opportunity to draft one. Not next year, this year. Why? Because this is the year you have the draft capital to grab the guy you want. If all goes as planned, they won't be anywhere near the top of the draft next year, and they won't have the same draft capital to move up. So unless Cousins is the man, then it's time to draft a franchise QB.

The real question is: do you think a guy will be there at #21 who can fill that role, or do you need to move up to get him? To me, it's now or never.

I agree with your assessment.  Its unanimous that Buffalo needs improved Qb play.  This year Buffalo has the cap flexability and draft capital to sign, trade or draft a franchise caliber QB.  If Buffalo does not do 1 or 2 of the options I suggested to obtain a Franchise caliber or potential Qb I would call this offseason a complete failure.

  5. I could see Hughes, Glenn, Taylor, Incognito, all gone next year.  The biggest contracts on the books will all be gone.  I expect gaines, Brown, and Thompson offered extensions with P brown ending up walking.  Last year the team was strapped against the cap.  The shedding of contracts will see the defensive front 7 seeing the most change and most money dumped into.  I think they will make a competitive offer to Cousins as well.

  6. Seems like after listening to Mcdermott he is not against bringing in a new OC.  i think he has a style he want to incorperate on offense by the problem offensively seemed to be play calling and that has never been Dennison's forte.   Depending on who he could bring in Imo he would replace him.  If a rookie Qb is most likley I think you make the change now if you have any worry about Dennison.  You dont want to change Oc's on a rookie if you dont have to.

    You're trying to hard.

The Browns are going to pick Darnold or Rosen, and then the Giants are going to draft the other guy.

Who else are we trading up for?

Again as i stated idk why a team would trade out of taking a Qb when it appears they need one.  That also has not stopped franchises in the past from doing so completely disregarding it is not accurate.  Allen or Jackson I would still trade up for if Darnold or Rosen are not obtainable.  Both are the most gifted prospect and neither will be there at 21.  With the top guys gone the price wouldn't be as high but Indy and Cleveland imo would listen for offers.  Outside of those four no other Qb in the draft has franchise caliber potential you essentially are hoping to hit the lottery that one of these other guys play much better than anyone projected them to.

Why would either of those teams trade down, and not take a QB?

    That's great.

Doesn't mean a lot though considering the top 2 QBs will be long gone by then.

Idk but that does not mean they wont.  Cleveland has the 4th so I think that either pick could be in play.  Cleveland may like Allen the best but dont want to pick him over Darnold or Rosen so they trade 1.  Or they get there Qb at 1 and pick up 3 first rounder for 4.  The Giants may think that with the return of Beckham they are much closer to winning with Eli than without him and push hard to build around him.  Lineman are not as high this year they pick up our picks this year and sure up their line and use our pick next year for the Qb of the future.  Maybe no one trades out of the top 10 but recent history tells you otherwise.  3 first rounders will have any organizations attention add in 2 this year allows poor rosters to get 2 starters for this year.

I'm very skeptical of pundits pre-draft, ever since the days when I heard Kiper extolling Jimmy Clausen and promising to quit if he didn't become a successful NFL QB, and various pundits extolling Blaine Gabbert (Mizzou is about the only college football I see occasionally - blech) as the #1 pick over Newton.

Claussen was taken much later than kiper was pushing and Mcshay called him on it from the beginning.

Sam Darnold is garbage, Josh Rosen is a West Coast guy and will be drafted 1 or 2, Baker Mayfield = Manziel, Jackson = Tyrod.

And Rudolph is not in the conversation as being better than any of them.  You also left off Allen who has the highest potential of any qb in the draft.  Rudolph has a chance to be the 6th best prospect this year with, faulk and white from WK.  That does not offer optimism or confidence that the position is set up for the next 10 years because we got maybe the 6th best guy at 21 or 22.

  11. There are 4 potential Franchise Qbs.  The most polished is Rosen, best attributes Darnold,  best arm Allen and most athletic and productive is Jackson.  Im not super picky about any of the four guys, but Buffalo needs to leave the draft with one of them.  Stop being cute, stop trying to be the smartest guy in the room just go get a Qb with legitimate franchise potential.  Only way would I would be ok not getting one of those guys is if Buffalo signed Cousins and they build the roster around him.  i think the odds of landing Cousins are long and the price is going to be rich.  Over 25 mil a year and in the neighborhood of 80% guaranteed.

  12. The team on a whole exceeded expectations from many.  Off a successful year and still implementing his system I think for the most part Mcdermott's staff remains the same.  If Wrs were not running open than i could see a change.  After Sunday I think the issue was with Qb play.  That is going to be the biggest change this off-season Imo.  I think Buffalo is first going to target Cousins, than a vikings Qb, after that they will go all in for a Qb early in the draft.  Outside of Cousins or Keenum or even Bridgewater the rest of Qb market would be bridge Qbs.  If Buffalo doesnt get the interest from the aforementioned Qb I could see them picking up Taylors option and trading him on draft day.

No thanks on Matthews. His skillset is redundant here. Spend that money on a Paul Richardson or Taylor Gabriel and it'll be better put to use.

After the trade for Benjamin Matthews doesnt really add anything to the roster that is not their already.  The team needs speed at Wr.  Slot or wide doesnt matter they need a guy to get deep.

From the limited reading I have done on this it seems that none of the guys in this year's draft are considered as good as the guys in last year's draft (Watson especially).  So giving up a ton of picks on guys like a Rosen or Darnold seems unlikely.  You do that when there is a can't miss type guy, and none of the guys in this year's draft fit that description.

Thus, my bet is that they go out and get a guy in free agency.  And looking at those potentially available, to me there is one obvious choice:

Cousins.  I say that based on a recent SI article about him.  He is all about process, and he is a film rat.  Studies hard all the time.  His approach to the game would fit perfectly with what McDermott and Beane are trying to build as far as the team mentality.  And he has performed pretty well in Washington.

McDermott and Beane know they need better QB play.  One of the first things Beane said when he was hired is that you have to have a QB to win in the league.  Is Cousins that guy?  Maybe, maybe not.    But unless they are really sold on one of the guys in the draft, I think it'll be Cousins.  And then they'll draft a guy with their second first round pick or one of the second round picks, someone they feel has the physical tools (maybe a Rudolph or a Falk or the kid from Western KY).

Depending who you listen to.  Alot of what I have read and listened to rank Darnold and def Rosen above Geoff and Wentz coming out.  This is a very good Qb class.  Allen and Jackson are the most gifted in a long time.  Allen has the best arm since Rodgers and Jackson is the most dynamic Qb since Vick.  There is a little bit for everyone in terms of what you want at Qb.  Mayfield is in the mid tier with Mason Rudolph.  Both have the lowest in terms of potential.  Top 4 Qbs will be Rosen Darnold, Allen, and Jackson.  Imo with 2 first rounders and all the capital the team has aquired they need to walk out of the draft with 1 of those 4 Qbs.  Rosen is best fit for the team and is the most pro ready.

    A trade up for who?

Darnold and Rosen will probably wind up going 1-2 in some order. To move up from our spot to the top two would probably cost four 1st round draft picks which is an insane amount of compensation for a prospect who might not even work out.

I think Buffalo would make a massive offer to NYG or Cleveland for either.  Do what it takes to get one of them.  If they can they have the best Qb prospect since Kelly.

I have no idea who is going to be there yet...Way too early to tell...

But I do think I know this...

The Bills will LOVE Vea...I doubt he will last that long...But...Take it to the bank, they are going to love that kid...

As for the QB's...I actually think it's going to be a little...a little... more simple than most feel...I think you can forget about Darnold, Rosen, and Allen...They will be gone, and even though I think the Bills will be willing to move up, I don't think they will be willing to give up what it will take to get in a spot for any of those 3...And I'm not necessarily saying those three are the best three...I am saying I think they will be the first three taken and all in the top 10...Maybe even in the top 5...

The next two figure to be Mayfield and Jackson...These two will get pushed down a bit due to size and skill set...Not much mind you...But there are teams that will not take either due to factors outside of actual performance...So because Darnold, Rosen, and Allen are already going to go higher, I think both go somewhere in the 8-20 area...But either could possibly slide to the Bills at #21 if things fall right...And I think, despite some of the off-field things we've heard about Mayfield, and the knocks on Jackson, the Bills will be VERY interested both...

I think there is at least a 50/50 chance (right now) the Bills can just sit where they pick and Draft Mason Rudolph...I know most folks don't grade Rudolph as high as the others...But his stock will rise...He's 6-5, threw for almost 5000 yds as a Sr, 65% completions, with a 4-1 TD/INT ratio...He's going to need some time and seasoning for sure...So the Bills would be well advised to grab a vet if TT is gone (which I expect)...

If somehow...Someway...They can come out of the 1st with one of the top 6 QB's, and a top D-Lineman,  I'm not sure Bills fans can ask for much more than that...

    So...My way-too-early guess is Rudolph and a D-Lineman in the 1st...B-)

Qb is the most important position right?  Why just hope your guy falls?  Go get your guy and let the chips fall as they may.
