Ian Rapoport - Bills not going after 2nd pick
Mat68 replied to Ittakestime's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Since Whaley and the entire scouting dept left not one leak has happed. Glenn trade was Cinncy. Every other trade came from the league office. There is no leak. I feel the only thing worth listening to is the combine presser. Gettleman was letting the league know he will trade for the right price. Jets went to 3 for 3 2s. Imo giants want 3 1s. The Bills have collected the amount of picks for the purpose to find a franchise. If Buffalo can get to 2 that is why you talk to Darnold. Based off of Buffalos Qb offseason decisions. There are 2 guys ready to play day 1. Darnold and Rosen. Rosen is more likely. Buffalo would have to be Ballsy to move to 5 for Rosen. I think they fear NYJ too much to allow that and move to 2. -
I agree with you. People bring up this game as a knock but also like Darnold, who played much worst for longer stretches of the season.

Allen has more physical gifts than White. Wesern Kentucky is also a better football program right now then Wyoming. They have gone to 4 straight bowls games. Wyoming won 2 games the season before Allen arrived. Since Allen has been there they lost every game he didn't appear. Wyoming went to back to back bowl games for the first time since 1988-1989. To say Allen hasn't risen the team around him is totally inaccurate.

His 2017 stats hurts alot of peoples perception of him. Against Iowa and Oregon again he didnt put up good stats. He made plays in each game, he made great throws that resulted into in-completions. Imo Allen looked much better vs Iowa than Darnold looked vs OSU.

Josh Allen visiting the Bills today
Mat68 replied to Bag of Milk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Allen has the most ability. I would move up to 2 for him. -
As a prospect he has the most ability. As a passer his numbers are just as prolific as Rosen. Rosen is considered the best natural passer in the draft. He had a better career running the football than Saquan Barkley, more yards, TDs, higher ypc. Barkley is the consensus #1 player. The agent part is a concern. Though with the rookie wage scale I understand the thinking. Day 1 he will be electric. Will he put the time and personal investment into becoming great? Idk him and keeping 22 makes alot of sense to me.

Shaquem Griffin - Linebacker UCF
Mat68 replied to I'm Spartacus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If he had 2 hands there would be talk of him being a late first. I would draft him in the second and he would be my will. He was the best player on the field in the peach bowl vs Auburn. -
Bills Draft Day QB Worst Case Scenario
Mat68 replied to Zerovoltz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A much as I am wanting them to move up to 2 or 4, the closer we get to the draft more I think they move to 6 or 7. They keep 22 and get a qb. Which ever one falls they go for. If Rosen gets past Denver I think that he is the target and i think its likely it happens. I dont know if there has been any contact but Jackson around 9 wouldn't be terrible as well. Played in a similar design of offense so the reads and plays structure wouldn't be a big adjust for him. Exciting to see what they do. All the top guys have some issues. If they get 1 of the top 5 qbs I would be happy. I think it could make sense to get the Qb that makes it out of the top 5. The cost would much less and Buffalo could still get a good player at 22. -
Manziel plays Qb the same way Michael Vick did. The difference is every time Vick stepped onto the field he was the best or one of the best athletes on the field. Manziel is not special in any shape or form. Manziel doesnt miss football, he misses what football brought to him. He misses fame.

Seattle postpones Kaepernick workout b/c of kneeling?
Mat68 replied to Jobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Every game they play the camera will zoom on him kneeling. There will be national media fueling the story the beat writers will ask Football questions the CNN ESPN and other national media outlets will ask the non football questions and will as long as half the country doesnt like it. -

First and last sentence I said back up Qb. If Colin wants to play football ever again, he will need to sign onto a team and be a non story. He isnt good enough to carry the kneeling controversy everywhere he goes the rest of his career. -

Yes Kaepernic would not play a single snap. After every game Pete Carrol's first question will be, how do you feel about Colins kneeling? The media circus is not worth it for a player that is noting more than an insurance policy to Russell Wilson. -

Mat68 replied to Jobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why would Seattle want to answer questions after every game about the back up QB who didnt play? Does he want to be a justice warrior or play football? Personally, his kneeling has no affect on me. It does not bother me in the slightest. However, when you start something like that and has now cut down party lines there is some accountability and consequence for your media whirlwind that follows. Its a multi billion dollar industry that makes there living and money off advertisements and public viewership. If those actions results in 1 fan not watching or one advertiser to drop out that has now cost the organization money. No team wants to have a media circus following them to every city and every game because of there backup QB. -
Why Picking Josh Allen Would Be Disasterous
Mat68 replied to Domdab99's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So if Allen becomes a franchise Qb and Mayfield does not, does analytics in football die? -
No he is not. 3 of the Qbs in this class would be rated higher then anyone in last years class.
-
Sam Cowart, Pat Williams, Marcel Dareus, Takeo spikes, London Fletcher were all first or second team all pros where has that gotten Buffalo? Buffalo has never drafted a Qb inside of the top 10. I believe that is a strong correlation why Buffalo has had 1 franchise Qb in its history. There are 5 guys who are 90 plus rated Qb prospects. By most accounts this is the strongest Qb class in terms of Talent and production in some time. Buffalo has 6 picks in the first 3 rounds. At 12 they are in striking distance of getting their top rated Qb. Why would anyone be against doing so? The strength of this draft is in rds 2 and 3 an 4. By trading half or 2/3 of the picks they can get a franchise Qb for the first time since Kelly. Even if they dont turn out to be as good they are at that same level of potential. Plus add a starter in rd 2 and rd 3, while retain the remaining mid to late rd picks? It makes complete sense.
-
Could he bust? Sure as could Rosen, Darnold, Mayfield, or Jackson. Its pretty obvious to me why he is in consideration for 1. His strengths are higher than any other prospects. His weakness are there. Are those coach able areas where they could be limited. I do. Can Mayfield succeed in a dirty pocket and tight window throws? Can Rosen absorb NFL punishment with his injury history? Can Darnold improve his ball security? Can Jackson improve his lower body mechanics and pocket awareness. They all have some work to do. Who have the most room to grow? Who could become Great? Rare year.

I would really not like having Bill and Mcdaniels developing Jackson behind Brady for 2 years. Then Brady retires and they go all in on Jackson with the RPO offense.
