All 22: Evaluating Teller pass blocking 1st half v Jets
Mat68 replied to Bocephuz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He is more than serviceable. Imo the issue with NFL o line is trying to move LTs to other OL positions as If its madden. Dawkins wasnt able to beat out Mills last year at RT. At LT his natural position he has performed much better. Enough to warrant a trade of often injured Glenn. In the middle rounds find a RT. Bring in a veteran a center and guard and Buffalos line will be much improved. -
Do you think Robert Foster can develop to into a #1 receiver?
Mat68 replied to BBills88's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Foster is a keeper. #1? No. I say that because you cant scheme away a true #1. Now I will say he will dictate coverage. He could become a very good deep threat. -
Your never gonna get that out of him. That's what allows to make that attempt to Clay in Miami. His wr dont have the ability to make catches on one-one coverage that's on the Wr corp. Back shoulder fades he throws well. He just doesnt have anyone who can make those plays. Those plays you see Wrs make all over the league every week.
-
I agree with that assessment. I think his ability he showed gives me promise that he can do that. Similar to Geoff and Trubisky. Buffalo will need an improvement to the run game to match those other offenses.
-
No differant than Farve. He had some terrible Ints. He would argue that it worked out more than not. Now Allen has 1000% faith in his arm. He thinks he can fit the ball in any window. That gets him in trouble. His pick was no better or worse than Russell Wilson last night. Imo Allen gets a little cocky with the cross body throws. This will tone him down a bit. The one that ended the game I dont hate. He threw a 1 on 1 ball when they needed a chunk play.
-
I would argue the drops may not be significantly more, but they are not making tough catches either. If the ball is not placed on the numbers the passes are not caught. Allen's completion % is the result of his play. He has more air yardage per attempt than any other rookie. He will routinely give up 5 to get 20. I dont know how much of that I would change. He is not perfect and I dont want him playing this way in years 2 and 3. I'm excited to see how he performs with better pass catchers and a more dynamic rushing attack. To me his strengths out way his weaknesses.
-
I disagree get the ball outside the numbers as quick as possible. Seperation is there, the ball gets to him with time to gather and make a move to break a tackle. If he we are debating If he is throwing the ball too hard on a curl Buffalo needs better Wrs outside.

So after this year Gm Jrober is trading or cutting Allen and doing what?
-
That has to be the model. Philly, LAR, and Chicago. Buffalo has an above average and cheap defensive unit. This offseason Buffalo has the money and potential to make runs at top FA. Allen right now is an underground king. Not getting national attention but he really is balling. That paired with the new field house could be the cherry on top. I would go hard at Bell, Lawrence, and who ever they deem the top OT, OG, and C. Explore a trade for any pass catcher entering the last year of a deal.
-
Funny, remember all the commercials and the hype surrounding Vick? Allen has rushed for more yards in a 3 game stretch than Vick did for any stretch of his career. Allen is the best athlete on the field when he plays. I dont know why he isnt getting more attention. Remember last year with Deshaun Watson? Allen is getting 0 love. Allen doesnt have the weapons Watson has or had. The Bill's have a guy to build around. He cleans up some small things Buffalo will be a darkhorse next year.

Has a WR made a great catch this season????
Mat68 replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. I'm not talking 6 year journeyman, 25 to 26 years old off there rookie deals. Maybe in a poor offense, or caught up in a numbers game. Having a guy who drives the ball down the field and who gives his wr chances at big plays will be enticing to FA. Just show a lowlight video of the all the drops this year when they are in for visits. -

If the ball isn't placed inside the wrs frame they wont catch it. When the ball is on the money it is still questionable. Foster looks like a decent deep threat. Jones has flashes of being a solid possession wr but drops too many passes. Besides them McKenzie is the only guy who could make the roster next year. They need to draft a pass catcher early and bring in quite a few vets. -
He is carrying the offense. I dont remember how long it's been since that was case. Fitz still had Fredex and Spiller. Maybe Bledsoe was the last qb who really carried the unit. For a rookie to do that says alot. Scale to 10 I'm an 8.

Bills have released Kelvin Benjamin and Andre Holmes

It was a risk but was needed. -
Brandon Beane Gives Blueprint to Critical 2019 Offseason
Mat68 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think that is most likely the way. Pay in FA for O lineman. Draft 2 to grow. Early pass rusher or catcher. Buffalo needs to try and add the best possible players. I would take runs at all the top tier players. Bell and Lawrence come to mind. Cover all holes in FA use the draft to add talent. -
What it would take? A first? Depending on where Buffalo picks I wouldn't hate it? Biggest need is offense skill positions. Those may or may not be worth drafting that early. Most of the time takes a few years to develop. With the new rules I could see the kid from Oklamaha getting a look if he blazes the combine. Buffalo needs to be aggressive if they are high on Edmunds and Allen.

OK. I'll Say It-Allen will be best Bills QB ever
Mat68 replied to beacon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm a Josh Allen nut hugger and I even say this is too far. I think pure talent stand point gives him the potential to be, but he still has to produce on the field to be that, and continue improving. -
Week 14: Jets Game Preparation - Inactives Announced
Mat68 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hear the clip with Pennington and come away with the notion that he has not watched either Jacksonville or Miami game. Missing 1 or 2 throws a game is no differant than what Rodgers or any other top Qb does. Allen has not shown himself as a first read and run player. He has made big time throws in bigtime windows. Allen's biggest thing is he needs his teammates to better understand how to handle the scramble. When to sit down your route when to come back towards him and when to slip out deep. Buffalo would be wise this offseason to consult with Arians. He had his hand in young big ben and scheming the scramble. If the scramble is controlled chaos the defense is put at a severe disadvantage. They do that sky is the limit. As long as Allen stay humble and continues to grind he will be special. -
He was 2 plays away from 350 and 4 TDs. First, the play to Clay everyone saw and talked about. The top offenses have players that routinely make the type of plays. Half of Mahomes TDs are guys making the play on the other end. Secondly, the bomb to Foster. I thought Allen threw a bad ball too much on it. If you watch Foster drifts toward the center of the field. If he runs that route straight he catches it and walks in.

Allen's Last Pass (12/2): Bad Pass or Drop?
Mat68 replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Under perfect circumstances Taylor made a poor throw. Allen reversed feild twice and threw a crossed his body for 40 plus yards. The fact the ball was even catchable defies physics. The pass before to Jones would be a similar pass. 3 steps boom Allen put it on the money. Those are plays Mahomes, Brees, Brady and Rodgers routinely have guys making. When its caught it's great. When its dropped he is inaccurate. -
Allen's Last Pass (12/2): Bad Pass or Drop?
Mat68 replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The pass is a super freaky play. The ball traveled well over 50 yards. Clay needs to gather himself and make the play. Only Mahomes or Rodgers could have made that pass. Clay was surprised by the pass coming to him and wasnt in good position to catch it. Mahomes get 5 passes caught like this a game. If Buffalo pass catchers dont get the ball on the numbers they dont catch it. -
Out of the current crop of Wrs I think they need a whole new crop with Jones, and Foster the only true hold overs. A combo of rookies and FA, with 4 new ones sticking.
