They needed 5 new guys. Only Dawkins is a probable return from last to start. The line was terrible. They added the best center and without paying through the nose brought in guys who all showed flashes of good play when given opportunities. If they find 2 or 3 out of 4 they are better for it. Still better than the island of misfit toys the they trotted out last year.

It's simple, Buffalo are in the market for offensive talent when their wasnt much to choose from in FA. All the guys brought in are on 1 year deals with team options beside Morse. At wr Buffalo added the top available deep threat and arguably the top availabe slot wr. The slot was a position of need and Allen throws a good deep ball. In terms of trades. I think Brown's personality and contract demands were too rich for them. Beane values the draft and the top 10 pick this year too much to include it for Beckham. Gettleman made a call to Beane probably out of some relationship and professional courtesy and Beane didn't pony up or call back. I think Beane values their pick. They will get the pick of the best offensive skill player, Olineman, Db, Lb and a highly rated d lineman. The first time in a long time their are not pressing need. They have 10 picks, I bet they use 7 or 8.

I dont see a LT prospect in the draft that is better week 1 at LT than Dawkins. Unless I'm missing something Williams is projecting better as a guard, Taylor is a RT, and Risner is good but didn't face elite competition. Those dont sound like top 10 picks to me. If Buffalo trades down or trades back into the first I understand the picks more.

Not having Gronk will take alot away from their passing attack. He was the reason you could double Edelman. He was the guy who won outside against single coverage.

Depends who they take in rd 1. If they go Sweat or Burns I dont think Polite makes that much sense. I really think Buffalo needs to add more weapons on offense. Zay Jones, Robert Foster, Jon Brown, and Cole Beasly are role players. They need to add something more. If they dont go pass catcher in rd 1 I'm out on polite. If they go Hockenson or Metcalf I would be all for it.

He doesn't look like a top tackle prospect to me. I dont see any of the top rated lineman in this class as upgrades over Dawkins. If they are not the best guy available and are not a significant upgrade at the position why do it?

Bills sign TE Jake Fisher to 1-year deal

The end of the day, he is a possible blocking te. Short yardage, goalline, and special teams all need a TE like that. -

He might be one of those guys who struggles with keeping weight on to play tackle. Dropping 15 pds in 3 months is pretty quick if he can slim down to 265 to 270 he might make the roster. -

Should the NFL eliminate the onside kick?
Mat68 replied to Buffalo03's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The change of possession after a score needs to be re-evaluated. The move for saftey has caused the kickoff to the verge of extinction. Makes the on side kick half as likely as it once was. It also has completely removed the suprise on side kick. That play imo won the Saints the superbowl. Anything involving the offense making 1 play to retain possession becomes to gimmicky and takes away from the game. Remove the tee and move the kickoff up another 10 yards. Let the return stand where they want. Kicking off the ground will limit the hang time and make the play happen quicker. -
FA OT Jake Fisher converting to TE, will work out for Bills
Mat68 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The question is, does he have enough athletism to be anything more than a blocking te? His combine numbers were not super freaky for a OT let alone a TE. -

A solid blocking Te possibly. If he can show some athleticism maybe it's not a bad move. Still need a blocking te on the roster. So low end blocker Te with potential to be more. -
3, possibly 4 QBs taken in the 1st rd before the Bills pick?
Mat68 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I could see 3 QBs. I think it is more likely 2 or 1 are taken. -
Watching him play and not expect this kind of speed is astonishing. There is a reason why you never see him break long td runs. That for me is a red flag. In college on a team that is vastly superior vs the majority of their competition and you cant break a long run? Give me Miles Sanders rd 2 all day over Jacobs.

ASU WR K’Neal Harry is projected as a 2nd rd prospect.
Mat68 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If want a Tyreek Hill type of deep threat why are you so down on Metcalf? He gives Buffalo that same ability but instead of 5'10 195 it's coming from 6'3 230 -
Full Intelligent Breakdown of DK Metcalf

The reason his production is less were due to injury. When on the field he was productive at a level expected from a prospect of his caliber. With another wr prospect on his team defenses choose to double team Metcalf over Brown. His total stats not reaching plateaus of your liking doesnt make him any less a prospect. Like it or not Metcalf's physical attributes are in the rare category of Calvin Johnson, Julio Jones. His style of play resembles that of Randy Moss. The only reason he should not be strongly considered at 9 is if he has any lingering issues medically. -
Allows for line fluidity. At minimum he appears to be an improvement over Mills. The move doesnt prohibite them from drafting a OT early in the draft. It fills a hole and opens up who they can take at 9.

Hockenson at #9 Change My Mind
Mat68 replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You determine this by the players you have on the roster. If your Te consistently gets open and makes plays you build your passing attack around his strengths. -
His knees are shot. Why the Dolphins traded him.

I think it comes down to what your personal philosophy is. Personally, give me the most athletic freaks and put it on coaching to get all of it out of them. As an outside Wr in the offense utilized down the stretch he will be scary. A couple shots a game paired with crosses and comebacks makes him a problem. Why I think he is top 10 worthy is you dont find guys that size with his acceleration and top end speed often. If you have a chance at one you take if you have a guy who can get him the ball. -
What am I missing about Jared Cook?
Mat68 replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's why he is not signed. That's what makes the good ones such match up nightmares. One play they are inline blocking, split him out vs a linebaker. They switch a safety or corner on him. Motion in and run at the saftey or corner. Easier than when he is in it's a pass. -

Gronk and Olsen are. Kelce and Ertz are average. -
If your tanking why pay Tate all that money? Why not tag Collins and trade him? If someone is willing to pay him 50 plus they would trade a day 2 pick for him. It looks like they dont know what they want. Are they contending or tanking? They are in the former Buffalo cycle of middling.
