  1. I could see all of them making the roster. The longest shots are Joseph, and Johnson. There is a case to be made that their potential is worth more than then the veterans at the bottom. If they keep 6 LBs you got Lorax, Milano, Edmunds, Sanford, Thompson and who? Alexander/Lacey/Joseph. I like Joseph's athletic ability more. Saftey is tricky. McDermott likes him some safties. Whether its deep, robber, or in the slot. Locks are Hyde, Poyer, Neal, and Colman. Colman can play robber or deep. Neal slot or Robber. I think they keep 5. Do they go Merlow or Johnson. I think Johnson will be very good on teams, and adds another guy who can play deep saftey. Colman was good at it before, but hes lost a step and cant get to the same spots.
  2. Your getting what Texans assume would be a top 10 pick from a 6-10 franchise. A wr that would be better than everyone they have behind Hopkins and Fuller. Not a terrible offer for a guy who is not playing and coming back in 2020
  3. Imo they are putting ed in less then favorable positions to see how he reacts. His biggest question mark was his ability to hold up vs NFL double teams. He hasnt been terrible, and he has flashed here and there. Come gameplaning and scheming comes into play in 2 weeks, I'm excited to see how he is used. Pretty much Ed passed the test in preseason of looking like an NFL DT. He wasnt wide eyed our looked out of place.
  4. I think Foster is a larger part of the offense then the preseason has Indicated. The preseason means nothing. They are not running the offense they will run in the Meadowlands. Yes, Beasley and Allen need a level of chemistry. Beasley is the safety valve. Knowing when and where he will be is important. Hitting Brown, and Foster for chunk plays will not go away.
  5. No team is trading a starting tackle this close to the season. Lombardi said they are interested to adding a Wr behind Hopkins and Fuller. Now with the devastating injury to Miller they certainly are in need of a Rb. The last 2 you could add Buffalo. They could trade any a Wr or Rb. Go back to what Beane said after they were done spending in FA. Yes, they were done and onto the draft. With the remaining cap space they would be ready if and when an impact player became available. I would put Clowney in that class. Having Gaine in the building, would give them insight on what Clowney was asking. He is a 3 down De. A real difference maker for Buffalo. Will they end up with Idk. Has Buffalo had discussion with them? I bet yes. Are they offering what the Texans want? I dont know.
  6. Top 5 sure. When you discuss the best defenses last year Buffalo wasnt the top of many lists. They weren't a dominant Defense. The Bears Defense was in a similar place as ours. Enter Mack and they went to another level. Clowney isnt that, but he would have a similar impact for the overall team. The team is lacking a disrupter. Clowney is that. Run or Pass Clowney has the ability to blow up either one.
  7. He was top 5 in sacks here. Clowney is a guy who may never lead the league in sacks. That's fine with me. He impacts the game more than a sack artist. He f's up much more plays than his stats show. The defense doesn't have that guy on defense that consistently does that.
  8. That team was not anywhere near as talented. Clowney makes the Bill's a legit top 5 defense and contender for best defense in the NFL.
  9. If he can hit the short to intermediate passes. If his Wrs occassionally bail him out by catching footballs outside their frames he can be a 60% passer.
  10. Tyree Jackson is going to slip and slide his way through 4 quarters. Most likely an unbearable game to digest. Allen play the first first half or 2 td drives and that's a wrap.
  11. I dont think you consider rostering Wade with the expectation of an every down back. If he continues to make plays, and shows that same ability vs better competition you have to consider it. The 4th rb behind McCoy, Gore, and Singeltary is going to have slim pickings anyways. Having a guy who can run a gadget play ie designed swing passes and toss sweeps with big play ability, could make sense.
  12. With the Cap space. I would consider it. Throw in McCoy, make Zeke the highest paid back. Give him the majority of the money the first 2 to 3 years of the deal.
  13. There is 0% chance Gordan can make it through a season. Thomas was a shell of himself in Houston before the injury. My opinion of the team has little to do with preseason performances. Allen finished at just under .500, quarterbacking for a team with 0 run game, a putrid Oline, and a recieving corp that featured 2 street FAs picked up mid season. The talent on the Oline has improved. Allen has better weapons around him. The defense is returning 10 starters on their base and nickel defenses which a year ago was a top 10 unit. Basically, every team atop the AFC has regressed. This year is wide open.
  14. If Allen looks terrible and the team implodes? Probably. If Buffalo makes the playoffs and beats out NE for the AFCE he is also coach of the year.
  15. Imo they are playing and designing plays for players on the bubble. Wr is coming down to these couple of questions. 1. Can Roberts contribute as a regular wr? If yes, then it's a real possibility Buffalo keeps 5 wrs opening day. Brown, Beasley, Jones, Foster, and Roberts. Than it's on one of the other players to make some plays to warrant the spot. Right now I think they are fine keeping 5. 2. Do you want to keep a back up return man on the roster at all times? If you do, McKenzie is the next best punt returner behind Roberts. This is not a necessity. Hyde can field punts, and Singeltary could return kicks. 3. Has any wr outside the top 5 earned a roster spot? I think McKenzie and Williams have both helped themselves the most thus far. Williams brings a different dimension to the team. McKenzie fits in to what they already do and can spell multiple positions on offense. I dont think either has stamped their place on the 53 man roster.
  16. They have everything in place to be very good. I think a playoff run is real. The defense will be nasty. They dont play but a handful of top qbs. The defense has stymied alot of good offenses the last few years.
  17. That's a pretty good strategy. I think you can get creative with Zeke. 4 year 80 mil ext 40 guaranteed. Spread 35 over the next 2 years. Most likely trade him in 2 years. Basically a 2 year 40 mil deal for his prime than sell high. They have no choice but to sign Dak. But again front load it. If you need to move on you can by trading Zeke and drafting a guy high.
  18. Also, they play 5 games vs top QBs. 2 Brady, Baker, Wentz, and Big Ben. The Bils defense is pretty gnarly, and gives even the best QBs fits. If the offense plays like an improved version of the the last 5 games they will win alot of games and surprise alot of people.
  19. Beside the Cheifs offense being very good, the AFC is wide open. If Allen develops into a top 15 Qb Buffalo could win the division. The Steelers will be solid but less explosive. NE is NE but without anyone outside that is a tough matchup. Without Gronk that offense is manageable. McDermott has a pretty good record of giving them fits. If the Bill's reach their potential they are contenders.
  20. Zay is a fairly cheap player. Going into his third, in an offense that he certainly wont be focal point all bolds well for him. I think at seasons end his numbers will be pretty good. I expect a few really good games with multiple Tds and in totality may even end the season with the best numbers in terms of yards and Tds.
  21. Its preseason. I expect them to continue to utilize the vertical passing attack that was implemented last year. Brown and Foster will be huge peices of the offense. To me Daboll is just running basic concepts that NE has used for years. Working Beasley and the backs underneath to work Allen's consistency on those routes. I still think Zay will be a part of the offense. You cant read too much into preseason. They want to see imo if Roberts can be a legitimate Wr in rotation. Those reps come from someone. They are seeing if he can be the 5th Wr if not I expect them to keep 6 wrs. For the running backs, the last 2 games will be crucial. Yeldon has looked pretty good barring that fumble. Beane likes Gore way too much to bring him in just to cut him. I dont expect anyone trading for Shady worth anything. An expensive 30 yr old RB coming off the worst year of his career is bringing anything more than a late rd conditional pick. The wild card is still Wade. He made the 2 best plays of the Bill's preseason thus far. The whole mantra McDermott spouts that spots are earned in games, no one has made the most of their opportunities then Wade. I think Wade earned the reps after Singletary. Give him a larger role in preseason game 3. See what he does vs better competition.
  22. Why does he have to start? If its Mccloud, Perry, Yeldon, Williams, or McKenzie I think Wade is a legitimate conversation. He may have to play teams but those are areas the rules can be explained. On offense he only needs to know 10 to 20 plays. Have some gadgets plays to get him in space. Buffalo needs as many playmakers as they can. He has flashed. I think he makes plays no matter who is out there. Maybe not 60 and 40 yards but 20 plus are still explosive plays. Add in his spark plug ability for the team and I think its worth pondering.
