OAK planning to suspend AB (edit: apologized, playing)
Mat68 replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A head case, diva Wr paired with a rookie GM. What could go wrong? -
I understand they had Marshawn Lynch. Who was Seatles playmaker the year they won? The Patriots never have a "playmaker" but take what the defense/ matchups dictate. I'm curious to see how defenses react to Foster, Beasley, Brown. That puts a lot of stress on the corners and safties. They may not have a number 1 playmaker but either Brown or Foster can run by anybody. That leaves a lot of room for Beasley, TE d'jour, Zay or Robert's, and a Rb. McDermott and Daboll are following the NE model. Matchups more than one guy all the time. On paper the offense doesnt scare anybody. With the Oline they have assembled, paired with the speed and quickness added outside, their offense on the field is going to create problems.

THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - Let the Games Begin

They put the fan base through 1 poor season, while breaking in a rookie Qb. Year 1 he made the playoffs. He's shown tha ability to create a team, and on defense get the absolute best out of his personal. Going into year 2 the team lacked franchise players. They went super talented and young. Allen and Edmunds are set up to be the cornerstones of the franchise. Last year was a step backwards with the hope of taking 2 steps forward. This year you can see the offense being shaped around Allen. The Defense looks poised to go from under the radar to tops of the league. Hope's are high. I like what Allen's shown in December. He expands on that Buffalo is a contender. -
Darnold has not impressed me since that 4 game stretch in 2016. A year from hitting holes and NFL speed will be a factor for Bell. The Jets oline is bottom third, the Steelers were top 5. Offseason champs dont live up to the hype.

GW defenses are susceptible to Big plays. Allen hits a few deep passes, shows more maturity and takes the check down Buffalo wins. 28-17.

Over 90 million dollars next year......what to do
Mat68 replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think you watch ATL with a watchful eye. Julio was on the verge of holdout goin into OTA's. After a conversation with Arthur Blank he reported. Jones stated the owner gave him his word he would be signed. Last week Blank seemed to pull back on the situation. A more we'll see and alot less optimistic. The Falcons start slow they may be willing to part with Julio. -

Josina Anderson saying they are visiting today? So were they in town yesterday or today? With the open P.S. spot I am going to assume one of these players are signing. The 10th Olineman is being cut and placed on the P.S. -

6 years. There are 2 years left on the deal. They are adding those 2 years to the overall money aswell. I've been telling a friend of mine for weeks who is a big cowboys fan to just give him a larger bonus up front. Structure it so he has a large total number he will never see and move along. 3 to 4 years from now restructure or trade. -
THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - Let the Games Begin

With the cap space they have I dont see money being the deciding factor. Imo, they want to Singletary a larger role. How would McCoy react to recieving at best a third of the reps. The offense is more efficient with Gore vs McCoy. Singletary, more explosive and fresher legs. Gore is a better mentor, and fits the style of play at this point more than McCoy. After all that yes saving 6 mil is the cherry on top. -

I don't expect but 50 mil guaranteed. Imo it will be a 3 to 4 year deal. The last 2 years are fluff to make the contract alot larger than it really is imo. -
THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - Let the Games Begin

The start of the season always breeds optimism even in the most dire of times. I agree, this season feels, looks, and smells different. They will have a top 5 defense. The offense was a complete mess a year ago. They have nowhere to go but up. Allen the last month of the season seemed to figure it out. With an improved oline and pass catchers, I'm confident the offense will be much improved. The X-factor is the running game, and more importantly Singletary. The cutting of McCoy was shocking but shows the confidence the coaching staff and organization has in Singeltary. Wanting to give him a larger role in the offense is the only reason to release McCoy. If it was a money move it would have taken place in March or June. If Singletary has a Hunt, or Kamara type impact, the offense is now alot more explosive. This year Buffalo challenges NE. Do they beat them for the division? Idk. Buffalo makes the playoffs. They have 10 plus wins. -

One thing you cant teach is speed. Pretty good production for an undrafted guy aswell. What Buffalo is looking to do on offense, I think having a guy on PS behind Foster, and Brown is important. When you have a Qb with the arm of Allen you have to keep a guy on the field that stretches the coverage. -

The Tampa D has been a dumpster fire. I believe he has had 3 d Co Ordinators in each of his first 3 years. I could see a Hughes type turnaround. Start off as a pass rush specialist and go from there. -

Do they like any of them to sign them over a guy they had for 6 months? Idk. I like bringing in underachieving talent over, try hard guys with alot less talent. It's the job of the coaches and locker room to get them to put forth the required effort. Buy low, low risk. -

The top height weight speed guys surely are. That's why all 3 of those guys were top 2 rounds picks. -

Josh Jackson, Noah Spence, and Laquan Treadwell will not make to Weds unsigned. They are too physically gifted as athletes. As much as I like the depth at Wr, De, and Db its very hard to find athletes this talented to add to the bottom of your roster. Whether you get the potential out of them, or find a role. That's up to coaching. -

Want a Wr with size? There you go. He was a victim of a numbers game imo. Theilan, Diggs, and Rudolph are 75 % of the target share. Throw in Cook and now he really doesnt have a role. If hes motivated to earn a spot I would do it. Noah Spence? Him as a backup to Hughes? Makes alot of sense. As a rushed hes pretty talented as well. -

I like his natural abilities. After the last game he does need to learn alot of nuance. Simple things as how to run behind your pads, when and how to get down. The overall aspects of game his game he now gets to hone. Hopefully, t generate a role going into next season. Learning to field punts and kicks could be an area to concentrate. -
