  1. Yeah, that's a large part of the discovery process. A lot of these cases aren't even really about the money, and more about forcing thr issue to find out what exactly happened. There's logical reasons to not volunteer a blood sample, which typically requires a warrant to take. One is simple protection of personal freedoms, even if innocent. Another could be policy from the trucking company to not voluntarily interact with police or other third parties without the insurance company's lawyers' presence or instructions. These companies tend to carry a LOT of liability, so their insurance companies tend to have a lot of say in their operations.
  2. I've watched a lot of Attorney Tom, a catastrophic injury lawyer on YouTube. Basically rule #1 of understanding catastrophic injury cases is that EVERYONE even loosely related to the case gets sued. It's not personal, or even greed in the majority of cases, that's just how they're forced to operate to do right by their clients in the current system. The lawyer can literally be sued by their client afterwards if it comes to light that there were involved parties that didn't get included in the initial lawsuit.
  3. If I recall correctly, he said WR1 was his ceiling, which it still is. His sideline swag and deep threat ability are still largely untapped.
  4. Would like, but how in our cap?
  5. (tip of the hat for a job well done) Damn right, Spam (when properly cooked) is a god damned delicacy.
  6. Of course, but the truck company isn't suing the Haskins estate lol. If they were, they'd be throwing a similarly wide net. Not disagreeing with you there. But if you'll permit me being a snarky bish for a moment, it's redundant to add "he found out" to FAFO. 😝
  7. I agree, but that's just how the system works. "Don't hate the playa, hate the game" and all that. But in the example you mentioned of the brakes missing a week's service, that is far from "likely 0 to do with" the hypothetical. Industrial trucks are strictly regulated for a reason, and missed regular checkups DO get people killed.
  8. I do hear it snows in California sometimes, so it's indeed basically the same as Buffalo.
  9. Just heard a guy on the radio (who played QB in college and had a close relative who was a 10 year NFL QB) tell a story the other day about how his NFL brother/cousin/whateveridontremember chastising him for being too focused on strength training, and had him cut out like 80% of the weight lifting in favor of yoga and other flexibility stuff. Came from a fun talk about some meme QB in this draft who got absolutely jacked and ripped as hell for the combine rather than work on things that would actually make him a better QB.
  10. I like to hate on Tua and the Phish as much as the next guy, but a few extra pounds in April in the depths of the offseason is a big ole nothing burger.
  11. I'm looking forward to seeing the golden child of his rookie class (Sauce) start racking up illegal contact penalties this year now the league has gotten their year of novelty out of him. It's going to be glorious when the diva in New York City's media goes apecrap publicly over all the penalties.
  12. That's literally just how catastrophic injury cases work. It's not malice or a targeted grift/harassment, no lawyer worth their weight wouldn't include EVERYONE even tangentially related to the incident in the lawsuit. To not do so would be failing to act in the best interests of their client. You never know what discovery might turn up. (Hypothetical extreme examples of course) Sold him a pack of gum earlier in the day? You're getting sued. Why? Well discovery might expose that the newsstand you work at was being investigated after customers kept winding up in the hospital after lax health and safety measures led to rats peeing on the gum giving people a rare obscure condition that yadda yadda yadda... You're a new junior assistant air filter technician at the truck company? You're getting sued. Discovery might expose that your recent hiring was because of someone else retiring, and incompetent management misfiled some paperwork leading to the retired hydraulics/brakes technician accidentally being replaced with an untrained air filter jockey, leading to the truck having it's regularly scheduled brake service delayed another week... When you get one throw of a net to catch some fish, you throw as large a net as possible.
  13. Gotta steal these stats now, thanks.
  14. Good I guess heh. I was just working off what I've been told, don't really know the player.
  15. Yeah, our safeties are getting older and have shown to not be immune to injury, and our new depth was a starter for a Super Bowl team before a down year on a collapsing cap-crunch team? Sign me up.
  16. If only we had a coach known for taking DBs who "failed" with other teams, and getting production out of them...
  17. Josh could be MVP with an elite RB, competent blocking, and every WR running out routes. Can't stop our toe drag swag.
  18. "The meeting broke into fisticuffs, voodoo blood curses, and a released a zombie plague that threatens all of humanity. Other than that, it went well."
  19. It was objectively by the rules a legal lateral, and people are just too blinded by emotional homerism to accept it.
  20. Ok I didn't pick the best example but my point more or less stands. See if anyone can name the OTHER two starters lol.
  21. I bet of all the people making fun of this guy for being unknown couldn't name any of the players who teamed with Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. Hard to get attention for a "speed WR" stuck on a team with the highest profile WR duo in the league, and Tua/whatever backup at QB.
  22. Lol, about that... I don't understand why some people are so obsessed with the idea of comp picks, or the notion of believing Beane actively wants them. Must be closet Patriot fans.
  23. The rookie QB is the only way this makes any kind of sense. But even with the cheap(ish) QB, $20m/year guaranteed $25m/year overall for a not best in the league non-QB is how you stay bad/mediocre. I know LT and Edge are the marquee non-QB positions, but they're not worth starting QB money unless they're the unquestioned #1 in the league unanimous 1st Team All Pro. *edit* Just realized I misread the title, it's only $50m guaranteed not $60m. Oh well, point mostly still stands and I will leave my original idiocy intact for posterity.
  24. I guess I'm going against the tide with all the negative emote responses to this, but I wouldn't hate it? I'm told the value at our pick is loaded on IOL and WR, but if "our guys" aren't there, the mocks with RT or TE sound good too.
  25. Better yards per carry than Derrick Henry, in an offense not geared for the run with a weak rush blocking O-line. Blows my mind how people think he sucks when that objectively isn't true. He's been running people over and greatly improved in the pass game this last year. *edit* I should also add that although I don't see it much here, the concensus on Twitter is that he's a fumble machine? He had all of 3 fumbles this past season which could have been 0 or 6 based on which butterfly flapped its wings on any given week (aka small sample size, flukes happen either way). You don't see people calling Derrick Henry a fumble machine, who had 6 fumbles on double the touches for about the same fumble rate.
