Current NFL Coaching Tree - Belicheck and Reid
OldTimeAFLGuy replied to JGMcD2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
...excellent work...thanks for sharing.....illustrates there are NO guarantees.....far more goes into it than roots......what if a "sapling doesn't take"?......for example, Daboll is from the "Belichick Tree" and there sure as hell is a dichotomy of opinions right here on TBD......he didn't come with a warranty or "money back guarantee"...... -

...keep in mind Henry went in the 2nd at #45......so isn't he a prime example of RB value later (somewhat)?......do not see McBeane offering up MAJOR FA dollars to a RB.....he and his "Gang of 17+ Staff" is in the league's top 5 IMO (sincere apologies to the TBD "Fire McBeane...Fire McDermott Gang").....they will find THAT GUY in the draft...... -
agree....it's such a crap shoot as to if, when and to what extent they develop to be formidable at the NFL level......the individual depends on a multiple of surrounding components INCLUDING coaching....anybody predict the quasi-resurgence of Tannehill?........how about the reemergence of Rich Gannon later in his career?.....OR....some Pats castoff named Plunkett going to Raiders and notching two Lombardis?............

....first, can't see Titans letting him go.....MAJOR component......hard to say if Henry is a "contract year fluke".....if I remember correctly, Murray arrived with Eagles after a 392 carry season and then to Titans......overload IMO.....if I remember correctly, the beginning of the end for KC's Larry Johnson was 336 carries followed by 416 carries......same for HotLanta's Dirty Bird Anderson with 290 carries followed by 410 (and then ACL)..... -

....kid is on a remarkable roll.................. Titans' Derrick Henry rushes for 195 yards in win, now has 377 in playoffs Turron Davenport ESPN BALTIMORE -- The Tennessee Titans' hopes of winning games in the playoffs rest squarely on the shoulders of running back Derrick Henry. The 6-foot-3, 247-pound back put together a historic performance to fuel his team to a 28-12 playoff win. To put things in perspective, Henry's 195-yard rushing performance against the Ravens was his third consecutive game (including the playoffs) with 180 or more yards. No other player has done that. "They handed me a sheet that said, 'the only player in NFL history ...' Whatever comes after that is pretty much self-explanatory when it's the only player in NFL history. It's fun to get to coach him," Titans coach Mike Vrabel said. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/28468030/titans-derrick-henry-rushes-195-yards-win-now-377-playoffs -

Bill Cowher elected to Pro Football Hall of Fame's centennial class Jeff Legwold ESPN Senior Writer Former Pittsburgh Steelers coach Bill Cowher was formally named the first member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame's centennial class on Saturday, when the Hall's president, David Baker, informed Cowher of his selection to be enshrined during CBS' "NFL Today" program. The Hall's centennial class was selected by a blue-ribbon panel this past week. The remainder of the 15-member class will be revealed Wednesday morning. Cowher, a Crafton, Pennsylvania, native who coached the Steelers for 15 seasons, was visibly moved by the announcement. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/28465916/bill-cowher-elected-pro-football-hall-fame-centennial-class -

...the anointing drool for the rook Jackson being the "greatest invention since beer" appears to be a bit premature (yes the kid does have talent)......similar to the "RG II 1/8" hype...or...better yet, the prolific (COUGH) Jaws saying, "Kaep has the potential to be one of the top 10 greatest QB's"........the Henry kid is remarkable and the EXACT component our backfield is missing...."Thunder 'n Lightning" with Singeltary?....uh oh..... -

...ideal illustration of a "career politician"......NEVER had a private sector job in his life......ALWAYS been employed in politics and has owned the state of Delaware.....continually reelected by their fickle electorate no matter what he does or does NOT.....hell even his late son was elected AG......reminds me of South Carolina and Strom Thurmond.....98 years old (dead now), STILL in the Senate, propped up in the corner on a hat rack eating No-Doz, yet still legislating?.....seriously?.....and he was a REPUBLICAN (with the worst hair dye job).....these are just TWO of the 535 "doing the people's business".....we're screwed......... -
