  1. 50 carries a game isn't what you want either, though I understand your point. Our problem is we have no balance - and when I say balance I mean from a touches standpoint from our skill players. Our offense runs through Josh and Diggs - that's it. If we spread the ball around more it would alleviate a lot of the pressure on those two guys and make us a hell of a lot more efficient as an offense and forces defenses to defend the entire field. We will never be a dominant run offense - we're not built for it - so game plan around that. Use the screen game as an extension of the run game. It seems we're extremely reluctant to do so even though we have two guys who should be really good at it in Diggs and McKenzie with how twitchy they are. One of my favorite Mike Leach quotes about balanced football: "Now, what is balanced is when you have five skill positions ... if all five of them are contributing to the offensive effort in a somewhat equal fashion, then that's balanced, but this notion that, if you hand it to one guy 50 percent of the time and then you throw it to a combination of two guys the other 50 percent, that you're really balanced ... you probably pat yourself on the back and tell yourself that, and people have been doing that for decades. Well, you're delusional."
  2. I know based on the other routes in the concept. Football is not complicated.
  3. It’s not backyard ball. You can’t just make stuff up on the fly. The concept was double post. Gabe ran a post. It’s okay to admit Josh threw a bad ball.
  4. My point was to show you we do have misdirection in our offense since you said you’ve never seen it. Glad I could open your eyes for you my guy!
  5. Bro, he was behind the receiver!!! By definition this is out of phase! 🤣
  6. Come on man… people are that lazy? ”Many people mistakenly called this face guarding, but there is no rule against face guarding in the NFL. The defender doesn't really have to turn and look for the ball as long as he doesn't forcibly contact the receiver.” it’s the first thing that pops up if you Google it… and he was out of phase - this conversation is pointless though.
  7. A missed tackle, but that’s not something that you can adjust in-game like I said. It’s taught over a period of time. I don’t know how to make it any more clear to you that if a DB is out of phase with a receiver they are taught to play through the receivers hands. If you don’t want to agree with me then that’s fine, but that’s literally what they are taught. Also faceguarding is not a thing.
  8. Oh good you do. Now Google how RPOs work, or Power Read, or go to the 4th and 2 thread and watch the highlight of the tight end screen I described.
  9. With that type of response I’m unsure if you even know what misdirection is.
  10. It's more so that the end was lined up in a 9 tech. If he'd have been a 6 or a 5 Knox could have just chipped a down block and then release and the end probably wouldn't have re-directed.
  11. He read the screen, yeah. All comes down to block recognition. Bills ran Long Trap action up front. Dawkins blocked down - if it were truly Long Trap Knox would have hinged the defensive end to that side, but instead he shows pass set which leaves the end unblocked. Most teams teach those guys to squat and squeeze because of all the QB read game now so that's what he does. Pretty easy for him to dissect from that point.
  12. It's 1 Rat.
  13. Just watched the highlight on here. Looks like Allen tried to adjust the throw to Gabe and just threw a dud… that was awful.
  14. It’s possible. The play is set up to get McKenzie open, but Josh may have very well been trying to thread one to Gabe. Need the endzone shot to know for sure.
  15. Every RPO we run. There’s been quite a few. Plus a lot of our QB run game stuff has misdirection. The Tight End screen on the 2nd down call is pretty much exactly what you described the Vikings did - ours just didn’t work because they were in man. It’s there if you look for it.
  16. Better tackling fundamentals is not an adjustment you can make in game. Putting a Safety in the box is completely dependent on the offensive formation. And if you are out of phase with a receiver - meaning your shoulder is not on top of his DBs are taught to play the hands.
  17. They should have ran on 2nd down. I have no issues with the 3rd down call.
  18. I agree. Have to look at the All-22 - can't see how close the defender is in that broadcast view. Regardless though - the design of the play was not the issue - there was a play to be had there.
  19. This required no precision as far as route running - just run to the green grass. He has zero field awareness. I'd much rather see Shakir in the role at this point. Shakir needs to be utilized more.
  20. They were atrocious because they didn't work. The play designs were fine.
  21. This is what pisses me off. McKenzie is in on the play and just watches Peterson return it. He made absolutely zero attempt to try and tackle him. Inexcusable.
  22. The third down play to Lil Dirty was there if he just flattens the route instead of drifting - which is why Josh double clutched it.
  23. This is simply not true.
  24. Hold a team to 23 and create two turnovers in the process. In this day and age that's a solid defensive outing. The issue was we turned the ball over 4 times.
  25. Their a zone team - we'll be fine. We've struggled against gap scheme teams. Take away the big run and we held the Vikings to under well under 3 yards a carry yesterday.
