We have a team in the playoffs. The Bears and Titans will be watching from home. I'll take that deal.

Agreed. We're much thinner at safety than we are at DE. That said, I'd still like to have Von in there.

Can we take a moment and appreciate the front office
WhoTom replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
^ This. Remember a few years ago when three key players (Milano, Feliciano, and Dawkins) were hitting free agency. We were here discussing which one we could keep, maybe two if Beane were a genius. All three signed team-friendly deals. And his trades range from "so-so" on the low end to "Wow, did he fleece those guys" on the high end. -
I suppose that would depend on how you define "big name." If you mean someone whose name would be recognized by a casual non-Bills fan, then we've got Allen, Diggs, and Miller. In that case, I'd agree with you. But that doesn't mean his value is overestimated, just that our defense was decent even without him, while our offense would be SOL without Allen or Diggs.

Kyler Murray: How did the Cardinals fall for it?
WhoTom replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
The first three are needy enough, but are they that inept? The Colts, on the other hand - you might be right about them. -

Outside of the Browns, who else would do a trade like that? Raiders? Commanders? -
The returning champ referred to the 2011 upset against NE. Let's hope his late father has some "influence" this year.

Correction - we lost the opportunity to keep the #1 seed. If we had lost to the Bengals, and there's a 50/50 chance that we would have, then we'd be the #3 seed and our road to the Super Bowl would once again go through KC. So one could argue that we weren't screwed, but we may have dodged a bullet. Either way, why would anyone have bitterness toward Damar?

I think it's somewhere in between: Dorsey calls plays that Josh can modify as needed. I see a lot of option plays, whether they're run-pass options or QB options where he might hand off or he might run it himself, depending on how the D looks at the time of the snap. I also notice Josh calling quite a few audibles. Josh is an improviser - that's part of his style, so any OC who wants to be successful had better run an offense that allows him to wing it.

The telephone was ringing That's when I handed it to Liz She said, "This isn't who it would be If it wasn't who it is"

Notable Nexflix / Amazon / Premium Channel Series & Movies
WhoTom replied to Heitz's topic in Off the Wall
The series is supposed to be set a thousand years before LoTR, yet, both have the exact same technologies. They're still lighting with torches and fighting with broadswords. I guess Middle Earth is full of Luddites. -
Was a sunny day Not a cloud was in the sky Not a negative word was heard From the people passing by

I was being facetious. People keep complaining about Dorsey not committing to the run, yet, we have the #2 offense in the league.

Detroit Lions knock Pack out of playoffs; gratz Geno
WhoTom replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agreed, but let's think about the implications of that. Packers: no playoffs, no cap space, mid-round drafting next year, ten draft picks total Texans: no playoffs, lots of cap space, two first-round picks (including #2 overall), twelve draft picks total Situationally, at least, the Texans are better off. -

I blame him for demanding such an exorbitant contract that they couldn't put any talent around him. I agree with you that he's not as good as he used to be, but if they had Davante Adams in the lineup, they wouldn't be cleaning out their lockers today. -
That problem goes far beyond football fandom.

Do we see an end of QB Mega Deals?
WhoTom replied to WhitewalkerInPhilly's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah, there were in a bind, but when he demanded so much money that they couldn't keep Davante Adams - which means they had no shot at attracting a good FA replacement - then they really should have let him go. They could have traded him to a QB-hungry AFC team, gotten a 1st-round pick, and had enough money to rebuild. -
#4 defense even though about half of the key starters were injured. #2 offense even though we can't/won't commit to the run. Man, we need new coordinators.

What's The Likelihood That Gabe Davis Will Get A Contract Extension?
WhoTom replied to Kangaxx's topic in The Stadium Wall
If he's as bad as some are making him out to be, then why would he command a lot in the open market? I'd defer on any extensions at this point and see how he does in the playoffs and early next season. Maybe by then, he earns an extension. -
I’m kind of Over the Hines Experiment
WhoTom replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm not the one who dug it up and I wasn't trying to pile on - I was just making a lighthearted joke based on some game-time dialog. As for the bold, a lot of people predicted JA's rise, starting with Beane and McDermott. And quite a few posters here too. -

During the game, Nantz was talking about him having more yards than the offense, and Romo pointed out that kickoff returns keep the offense off the field, which contributed to their low numbers. I was just playing off of that comment.
