  1. No, it was a minor back injury. He was swimming again an hour later.
  2. What is it they say about never believing anything a GM says leading up to the draft? Beane is playing poker. He's not showing his cards.
  3. At the time, it seemed like the right decision to move on from Peyton, who was an unknown commodity following his neck surgery, and draft "the next Peyton Manning." In hindsight, however, it didn't work out all that well for the Colts. Peyton went to Denver and won another SB, while the Colts didn't win big with Luck. In retrospect, they'd have been better off keeping Peyton and either trading the #1 pick for more picks that they could use to bolster their O-line or drafting Luck and trading him to a QB-needy team.
  4. So you're saying that more than one person on the Internet can use the same profile pic?
  5. If he's from Carolina, is that sort of hiring from within? 😉
  6. Jesus just left Chicago And he's bound for New Orleans. Well now, Jesus just left Chicago And he's bound for New Orleans. Workin' from one end to the other And all points in between.
  7. I was just at the age where I was starting to pay attention to football, and that's my first vivid memory of a particular play. I was already a fan of the team and the player, but that moment was huge.
  8. I hope it's something simple like that, but I'd still get it checked out. Many serious conditions are treatable if caught early, but often they aren't detected until it's too late because the early warning symptoms didn't seem that significant at the time. I've seen it go both ways with people I know - either someone got checked, found something, and treated it, or they didn't bother and it turned out to be too late to treat it. If nothing else, get checked for your own peace of mind. And because you're a dad. 🙂
  9. Maybe it was the paint fumes, but just in case it wasn't, I'd schedule a physical and tell the doctor about it. This could be an early warning sign of a bigger issue. Hopefully, it's just the paint fumes.
  10. I do, for two reasons: 1) if they're forced to change lanes aggressively, they put other drivers (like myself) in danger; and 2) by making someone else's day a little easier, that person might pay it forward to the next person, which generally makes the world a better place for me. If I let them in and they drive too slow, then I just pass them.

  18. "At home, with Ocho Cinco." Hmmm - has a nice ring to it.
  19. Different scenario, but one time we were on an I-90 on-ramp trying to merge. The car in the right lane refused to move over even though there was nobody in the left lane. I had to slow down and thread the needle between that car and the one behind it. Then I noticed the car that wouldn't let us in had a WWJD bumper sticker. My wife grumbled, "Jesus would have let us merge, you b****." I love that woman.
  20. In the situation shown above, where the other car is in the wrong lane and wants to quickly get into a turning lane, it depends whether the other driver is being polite or being an a-hole. (I voted "depends on my mood" because that was the closest option. I suppose my mood affects my interpretation of their actions, to an extent.) But when a lane is ending, say in a construction zone, I let the late mergers in because it's better for traffic flow to keep all available lanes occupied for as long as possible. https://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/13/us/why-last-second-lane-mergers-are-good-for-traffic.html
