  1. That's about 21 wings/minute, less than 3 seconds per wing. Using the strip method, you'd have to insert, strip, and swallow without chewing while reaching for the next wing. I'll bet his gastroenterologist has a really nice boat. And someday, his cardiologist will too.
  2. Little boy sittin' on the corner cryin' Big man come and ask him why Says "I can't do what the big boys do" The man sat down and he cried too [edit: This verse is from the Grateful Dead's cover, but the original version of the song was written and recorded by Harry Belafonte. About an hour after I posted it, I saw the news of his death.]
  3. Agreed. The ones I get are a little bigger than the ideal size, but they're a great price and they still turn out good.
  4. In my younger days, I could eat a double order (24) and wash it down with a pitcher of beer. These days, I make my own (grill or air fry), and the wings we get from the store are pretty meaty, so I'm good with about six. And just one 12oz beer.
  5. Getting strong now Won't be long now Getting strong now Gonna fly now Flying high now Gonna fly, fly, fly (If that didn't make you cue up the horn section in your brain, then you're probably under 50.)
  6. Someday, I hope most people will realize that every act of altruism is self-serving in one way or another. And I mean that in an entirely secular sense, as in the bolded part of your comment. Pay it forward, and eventually, it'll come back.
  7. Several years ago we opened a high-yield savings account with Citizen's Access, a fully-online bank. (It's affiliated with a brick-and-mortar bank, though, and it's FDIC insured.) At the time, the rate was 2.5%. We put most of our savings there, and then bought two five-year CDs at 3.5%. Over the first couple of years, the savings interest rate kept decreasing, reaching a low of 0.4% before rebounding. (Still a ton better than our credit union, but disappointing.) The current rate on the savings account is 4.75%. Our Chase Visa card has 1% cash back on every purchase, and 5% on select purchases. The "select" category rotates every three months. In the summer, it's gasoline purchases. If you take your refund in form other than cash (Amazon gift card, etc.), then you get more money than the points would indicate. If you're interested in safe long-term investments, think about an I-Bond. https://keilfp.com/blogpodcast/i-bond-rate-november-2022-may-2023/
  8. "Christ was preaching peace and love and humanity. Then for 2,000 years we've had people torturing and killing each other because they don't agree about exactly how he said it." - Terry Jones (from Monty Python)
  9. And I'll climb The hill in my own way Just wait a while, for the right day And as I rise above the treeline and the clouds I look down, hearing the sound of the things you said today
  10. Say the word and you'll be free Say the word and be like me Say the word I'm thinking of Have you heard the word is love?
  11. Down with disease And I'm up before the dawn A thousand barefoot children outside Dancing on my lawn
  12. ... that's just like, you know, your opinion, man.
  13. Apples and beer cans work well for that too. Cut the top part of the apple like you were coring it, but leave the bottom intact. Poke another hole at a 90-degree angle so it meets with the hole on top. Put a little aluminum foil into the hole on top, poke some small holes in it, and inhale through the side hole. For the can, make a dent in the side and poke some holes there. Turn it sideways and inhale through the spout.
  14. Eventually, you'd get tired of it. 😉
  15. Fun fact: the actress who said that was Estelle Reiner, the wife of Carl Reiner and mother of Rob Reiner, who directed the film.
  16. Slit skirts Jeanie never wears those slit skirts I don't ever wear no ripped shirts Can't pretend that growing older never hurts.
  17. It's getting late, have you seen my mates? Ma, tell me when the boys get here It's seven o'clock and I wanna rock Wanna get a belly full of beer
  18. Barnacle Bill reminded me of - well, some interesting times, but also - The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill.
