  1. I never saw the "it" factor some people seem to have seen in Edwards, but I totally thought J.P. Losman was the next franchise QB. There's part of me that still thinks that with better coaching, he'd have at least been a decent NFL starter.

I'm happy with JRAD and DSO carrying on the music - JRAD for their own spin on it and DSO for a more authentic Dead show experience.
  5. Well, not based on actual evidence. But some people can speculate on every possibility based on their own insightful interpretation of anecdotal data and circumstantial evidence. And they'll be right. (Just ask them.)
  6. I know people say, "Don't knock it until you've tried it," but I'm quite certain that that rule of thumb is wrong more often than it's right. This is one of those cases.
  7. "Well, I met this tree ... yadda yadda yadda ... the next thing I know, I'm in a jail cell pulling splinters out of my junk."
  8. I won't give props to someone for being very good at something that's very bad for journalism in particular and, as an extension, bad for society in general. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for investigative journalism and asking tough questions, but not just throwing $#!+ against the wall to see what sticks. The same principle that propels a rocket is also used to make a bomb, but one is designed to move something forward while the other is designed to cause destruction. An investigative journalist does the former; a gossip columnist - the latter. Any idiot can blow $#!+ up, but that doesn't make him a rocket scientist.
  9. Tell me how long do I have to wait? Can I get you now, I said, must I hesitate?

  11. I fly it on Memorial Day and Veterans Day to honor my Dad (WWII vet) and others who served. But I stopped flying it on other national holidays around the same time you did, and probably for the same reason.
  12. Josh threw a red zone pick-six to our backup safety? Welp ... season's over folks. No wonder Di... (oops - not supposed to go there. Sorry.)
  13. Then somewhere near Salinas, Lord, I let her slip away Lookin' for the home I hope she'll find And I'd trade all my tomorrows for a single yesterday Holdin' Bobby's body next to mine

We saw two nights of Joe Russo's Almost Dead (JRAD) at Red Rocks last week. Night one, near the end of the second set, the band broke into the Grateful Dead staple “I Know You Rider.” During the song, the band was joined on stage by Katie Jacoby. She’s a classical violinist who’s been touring with The Who for their symphony orchestra gigs – a tour we saw twice in 2019. She played a killer solo during IKYR, and they ended the song with the violin solo from The Who’s “Baba O’Riley.” Very cool! Night two was even better. What looked to be a very wet evening (based on early forecasts) turned into a nice night without a single raindrop. Heck, the clouds even opened up and showed a few stars by the end of the show! And what a show! The venue was only about half full. The Nuggets were playing that night, which may have contributed to the low turnout. Worked out great for us, as we found nice seats about halfway up, right in the center – great sound and plenty of room to dance. And they put on an outstanding show! The previous night’s setlist had about a 60/40 rocker-to-ballad ratio, while night two was more like 80/20. The show started at 6:30 this time, which almost bit us in the @$$, as I hadn't noticed it on the ticket. I just assumed it would start at 7:30 like the Saturday show. Good thing we went in early to find good seats. As we approached the venue around 6:40, we began to hear what we thought was a soundcheck - a jazzy, blues jam. Once we got inside, the jam evolved into "Truckin'" and we realized the show had started. They played a lot of my favorites, including "Eyes of the World," "Shakedown Street," "New Speedway Boogie," "Me and My Uncle," "Deal," "Bertha," and "Sugar Magnolia." They even busted out Pink Floyd's "Hey You."
  16. I'm not trying to earn a hug or anything, but you know that right underneath the subject line it tells when the thread was created:
  17. One of them cowboys, he starts to draw And I shot him down, Lord, he never saw Shot me another, hot damn, he won't grow old In the confusion, my uncle grabbed the gold And we hightailed it down to Mexico
  18. The Packers. Like the Bills, they're in a small TV market with rabid fans who travel well. And unlike any other NFL team, they're owned by the fans, not a billionaire.
  19. I can't stay here much longer, Melinda The sun is getting high I can't help you with your troubles If you won't help with mine
  20. Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world The heart has its beaches, its homeland, and thoughts of its own Wake now, discover that you are the song that the morning brings But the heart has its seasons, its evenings, and songs of its own
  21. Trying to make a woman match your moves And I'm sharing in the Weekapaug groove
